"Ah..."
The little girl's panicked scream, accompanied by the screeching of brakes, reached Shouya's ears. The girl, with a slightly pale face, stumbled in front of the car, at a loss for what to do.
Shouya was startled and quickly got out of the car to check on the little girl. Her belongings had fallen to the ground, and he bent down to pick them up and handed them back to her. Then he asked, "Little sister, are you okay? Did you get hurt anywhere?"
Just moments ago, he had been driving when the girl suddenly dashed into the road. If he hadn't braked in time, who knows what might have happened...
"I'm fine, I'm fine." The girl's pale face improved slightly as she shook her head shyly and took her things from him.
Shouya furrowed his brow, still feeling uneasy as he asked, "Are you really okay? Are you sure you didn't get hurt? Do you want to go to the hospital for a check-up?"
The little girl paused for a moment, staring blankly at this young and handsome uncle in front of her. How could she describe him? His face was like jade, strikingly handsome like Pan An. Especially with the noble aura he exuded, he resembled an ancient aristocrat, carrying an otherworldly beauty that seemed untouched by the dust of the mortal world.
"Little sister, are you really okay?!" Seeing the young girl staring at him in a daze, Shouya waved his hand in front of her eyes and asked.
"Ah, I'm... I'm fine." The girl snapped back to reality, realizing she had lost her composure. She lowered her head shyly, her cheeks flushing lightly. Although she was still young and had seen many handsome boys, she had never encountered someone so beautiful; he looked like he had stepped out of a comic book.
Suddenly remembering something, she realized that she had been so focused on looking at the handsome uncle that she almost forgot she needed to hurry to her piano class! Glancing at her watch anxiously, she exclaimed, "What should I do? I'm going to be late! I need to get back to my piano class!"
As the girl dashed across the street again to catch the bus at the stop on the other side, Shouya quickly called out to her, saying, "How about I drive you there instead?"
He had almost hit her earlier; although she wasn't injured and had refused to go to the hospital for a check-up, Shouya still felt a bit guilty and decided to give her a ride.
Before she could respond, Shouya had already opened the car door and asked, "Tell me, which training center are you taking piano lessons at?"
The girl looked at him; there were still more than ten minutes until class started. If she took the bus, she would likely be late. But if she rode with him, she believed they would definitely arrive on time.
She hummed in agreement and nodded, then told him that she was at Maria Music Academy, where she happened to have a piano lesson today. She quickly sat in the passenger seat.
Shouya swiftly circled around the front of the car, got into the driver's seat, started the engine, and drove off.
As Shouya drove, he noticed the girl furrowing her brows, a hint of anxiety crossing her face. The young girl looked to be only about twelve or thirteen years old, at a flower-like age.
With her delicate and beautiful face, thick black eyelashes slightly curled upwards like a butterfly, and a pair of bright black eyes beneath a high nose and a small mouth, she was indeed very beautiful in a fresh way. However, there were faint freckles on her face that slightly marred her beauty.
On the way, Shouya learned from the girl that her name was Yuga.
The road was clear, and they soon arrived at Maria Music Academy.
The car stopped in front of the entrance to the training center. Yuga opened the car door, got out, walked around the front of the car, looked at Shouya sitting in the driver's seat, rolled her eyes playfully, and smiled as she said, "Uncle Shouya, why don't we go in together?"
Shouya glanced at the fairly nice training center and thought for a moment. He was extremely busy today; right after finishing surgery, he received a call from Rafas and rushed to Mokani. It was only now that he had time to rest. However, since he was already here, he wanted to go in and take a look. He remembered how much he loved music when he was young and dreamed of becoming a famous pianist, but that was just a fleeting thought.
"Alright!" Shouya opened the car door, got out, and walked into Maria Music Academy with Yuga.
His arrival caused the female students in the training center to gasp! Meanwhile, Yuga's lips curled up slightly as a sense of happiness and pride welled up within her.
On their way to the piano room, Yuga kept trying to find topics to chat with Shouya about.
However, as they passed by the piano room, a very beautiful melody floated over from afar, gentle and graceful like flowing water, imbued with a hint of sadness. It felt as if the whole world was raining for a moment, with all sorrow surging forth like tides.
Shouya couldn't help but stop in his tracks; this piece seemed familiar to him, but he couldn't recall where he had heard it before. He then followed the sound of the music.
Yuga followed him over.
In a spacious and bright piano room, Shouya looked through the window. A girl dressed in a white sheer dress sat in front of a grand piano, her long black hair cascading down her back like a waterfall, shimmering with an alluring glow. Her skin was as white as snow, with elegant eyebrows, watery eyes, and full, moist lips—she was truly a rare beauty!
Her long, fair fingers danced skillfully across the black and white keys, resembling a ballet dancer performing a graceful dance on the keys.
Standing beside him, Yuga noticed how entranced Shouya was and glanced at the girl playing the piano. With a hint of sympathy in her eyes, she told him, "She is Sister Anxi, a blind girl who has been visually impaired since childhood and lives with her grandmother. However, she is a strong girl; even though she cannot see, her heart is filled with light, and she is very optimistic! She comes here to play the piano every day..."
At Maria Music Academy, everyone knew An Xin Ya. Despite being blind and passionate about music, she had an exceptional ability to comprehend and learn. With the careful guidance of her teachers and classmates, she was able to play such beautiful pieces with her hands after just a few lessons.
She was gentle and beautiful, warm-hearted towards others, and everyone liked her and was willing to help her. She was a thoughtful listener; sometimes younger girls would confide their troubles to her, and she would listen faithfully.
Listening to Yuga's simple introduction, Shouya felt deeply shocked by An Xin Ya's background and couldn't help but feel sympathy for her. Such a beautiful girl yet blind—Heaven was too cruel!
Turning back to look at her closely, he felt a subtle affection in his eyes. Her sweet and pure demeanor resembled someone he knew—Yan Wushuang. Thinking of Wushuang, the woman with an enchanting fragrance who was breathtakingly beautiful. From the first moment he saw her, he was captivated by her beauty...
During her recovery, he had always been by her side taking care of her, gradually developing an inexplicable affection for her and admiring her greatly.
Unfortunately, Wushuang was now truly Mrs. Lei, the woman of Lefas—a fact that could not be erased.
He and Lefas were brothers who had gone through thick and thin together. Moreover, Wushuang truly loved Rafas now; thus, "a friend's wife should not be wronged"!
"Uncle Shouya, I won't keep you company any longer; I have to go back to class," Yuga said as she saw Shouya gazing intently at An Xin Ya. His deep black eyes had softened like water. Not wanting to disturb his appreciation of the moment, she headed straight back to her classroom.
Shouya stood quietly outside the window, watching An Xin Ya play the piano as her beautiful hands produced lovely notes that formed a captivating melody that kept him rooted in place for a long time.
Shouya smiled lightly, his lips curving into an elegant smile because of her music.
Just then, his phone in his pocket rang, pulling him back to reality. He snapped back to attention and took out his phone to see that it was his good friend Felsa calling. He stepped away to answer the call from Felsa.
Felsa didn't have anything urgent to discuss; he was simply inviting him to hang out at the "club" tonight. Now that Felsa had found the woman he loved, he was busy managing everything related to Solomon and also spending time with his beloved Ieyako. It was said that he and Ieyako would hold their engagement party next month.
So Felsa wanted to take the opportunity before the wedding to invite them out for drinks and conversation.
After ending the call, Shouya returned to the window of the piano room, only to be astonished to find that An Xin Ya had vanished. He looked around and searched again; in just a few minutes, she had disappeared without a trace.
With no choice, Shouya left Maria Music Academy. As he walked out the door, he couldn't help but glance back. The piece An Xin Ya had played still echoed in his ears, but her sweet and pure image had already been etched in his mind.
According to Yuga, she would come to school every day to play the piano, so Shouya planned to return tomorrow to listen to her play. After all, he had plenty of time; the project he had been researching in New York had been successful, and aside from being on the operating table, he didn't have much else going on.
"Grandma, I'm back!" An Xin Ya walked home step by step along the familiar path. She had been walking this route from her music training class to her home for several years now and knew it like the back of her hand. Although it was dark ahead, her heart was filled with light; this road was clear in her mind.
She lived with her grandmother now, who was over seventy years old. Her appearance seemed frozen at sixteen, but she could imagine that her grandmother hadn't changed much—a kind and gentle old woman.
"Xinya, you're back! Grandma just returned from the market with some vegetables and is busy in the kitchen!" The white-haired Grandma An, wearing an apron in the kitchen, leaned out when she heard her granddaughter's voice and called out cheerfully.
"I'll help you!" An Xin Ya said as she stepped into the kitchen.
"No need, Grandma can manage alone. You just sit in the living room," her grandmother quickly stopped her from entering.
