Hearing this, An Xin Ya felt much more at ease. She had truly been scared to death just now, but she believed that Wushuang would definitely get better.
Shouya was somewhat worried about Rafas. How could he pull out the needle? He was so reckless with his own body, so willful. Then Shouya helped her sit on the sofa and walked into Wushuang's hospital room. He said something to him, but instead, he impatiently yelled at him, telling him to take his woman and leave.
He knew that right now, he wouldn't listen to anyone and had a terrible temper.
Sitting on the sofa, An Xin Ya vaguely heard their conversation, which seemed to be filled with tension.
Not long after, she heard the light footsteps of a nurse, and then the nurse pushed open the door and walked in. Her heart tightened; she didn't know if something had happened to Wushuang.
Soon after, Shouya came out wearing a suit. Seeing An Xin Ya's worried expression, he looked calm as he walked up to her, placed his hands on her shoulders, and said, "Xinya, you don't need to worry about Wushuang anymore. It's already afternoon; your grandmother must be looking for you and worrying. Let me take you back!"
With her husband taking care of her, Xinya felt much more at ease. She walked out of the hospital with Brother Shouya and got into the car as he drove her back to the town.
In the car, An Xin Ya furrowed her brows with a sorrowful expression and suddenly spoke up, "I really feel useless; I couldn't protect Wushuang and let her get hurt because of me."
Her voice was hoarse, and as she spoke, her swollen eyes filled with tears again, which fell like rain.
Shouya, driving the car, looked at An Xin Ya with concern and said, "You don't need to blame yourself; this isn't your fault. It was an accident—something no one could have anticipated."
"If only my eyes could see, then Wushuang wouldn't have been hurt, and we could have avoided this car accident..." An Xin Ya trembled as she spoke.
Her brows knitted tighter in distress. As Xinya cried like this, Shouya found it hard to concentrate on driving and pulled over to the side. He reached out his hand to wrap around her shoulders and pulled her into his embrace, saying, "Fool! What's done is done. Besides, isn't Wushuang fine now?!"
"Woo woo woo..." An Xin Ya's tears flowed out like a flood, soaking his jacket.
"Don't cry anymore, Xinya. I will do everything I can to help you heal your eyes."
Hearing this, An Xin Ya's crying gradually stopped. She left Shouya's embrace, her tear-filled eyes staring straight ahead as she asked, "Really?"
"Really, please believe me, I will definitely heal your eyes," Shouya said affectionately, reaching out to wipe the tears from her face. This woman truly tugged at his heartstrings, constantly affecting him.
Xinya felt moved again and began to cry once more, collapsing into Shouya's arms, feeling his warmth and the sound of his heartbeat...
After a long while, Xinya's emotions gradually calmed down. Only then did Shouya drive her back to the town, helping her get out of the car and up to the second floor.
Grandma An was anxiously pacing at home. Not long ago, she had heard some bad news about a sports car that had injured two girls, namely Wushuang and Xinya, who had already been taken to the hospital. However, she did not know which hospital it was or how to find them, nor had she received any calls from the hospital...
At that moment, the door opened.
Seeing Shouya helping Xinya return home, Grandma An felt relieved and hurriedly stepped forward to grasp Xinya's hands, asking anxiously, "Xinya, my granddaughter, you’re finally back! Are you alright? What happened? Why did this happen? I heard from the neighbors that you were in a car accident..."
Noticing the bloodstains on her white dress, she froze for a moment and looked up at her again, asking where she was hurt.
"Grandma, I'm fine. Wushuang saved me," Xinya reassured her knowing that Grandma was worried.
"That's good to hear! But what about Wushuang? How is she?" Grandma An asked urgently as she did not see Wushuang anywhere.
"Grandma, don't worry. Wushuang is fine; she only has some superficial injuries. She's resting in the hospital and will be observed for a few days," Shouya said with a smile to calm Grandma An's anxious heart.
"That's good! That's good!" Grandma An said as she patted her chest; she was almost scared to death.
Shouya felt some concern for An Xin Ya. Although she appeared calm on the surface, inside she was struggling with guilt over Wushuang's injury. No matter how he insisted it wasn't her fault, she took all the responsibility upon herself.
An Xin Ya said she was tired and wanted to rest. She got up and stumbled into the room, but as she walked in, it seemed she remembered something. She turned around, and in her hollow gaze, a hint of sorrow was faintly visible. She said, "Brother Shouya, can you take me to the hospital tomorrow to visit Wushuang? I want to see her."
Shouya's dark eyes softened, and he smiled gently, saying, "Sure! I'll come by tomorrow to take you to the hospital to see Wushuang."
An Xin Ya didn't say anything else and turned back to walk into the room.
Shouya stood there silently, watching her slender figure. He felt an impulse to protect her, a desire to love her well for a lifetime, but she seemed intent on avoiding any feelings for him.
"Let her have some time alone," Grandma An said, looking at the two of them with concern. She walked over to Shouya and kindly said, "You should go back now; you're tired too. Go rest."
"Yes, Grandma." Shouya lifted his eyes again and took a deep look at An Xin Ya's door before turning to leave her home.
During dinner, An Xin Ya remained in her room. Grandma An approached the door and gently knocked, calling out to Xinya inside, "Xinya, it's time to come out for dinner!"
"I know, Grandma!" Shortly after, An Xin Ya stepped out.
Grandma An was startled by the sight of her red and swollen eyes, with traces of tears still on her face. She took An Xin Ya's hand and softly asked, "What happened? Why were you crying?"
"Grandma, I feel so useless. If it weren't for me, Wushuang wouldn't have been hurt because of me." As she spoke, An Xin Ya began to cry again.
"Silly child, it's not your fault at all. It was just an accident—something no one could have predicted. Don't blame yourself," Grandma An said with a furrowed brow as she comforted her.
"Grandma, I..." An Xin Ya didn't know what to say and suddenly hugged her grandmother tightly as she cried.
"Alright, alright, stop crying! Wushuang is now safe and sound in the hospital, and Shouya said she only has superficial injuries, you should be happy!" Grandma An patted her trembling back and said.
Yes, Wushuang is fine now; she should be happy. But thinking about how Wushuang got hurt while saving her made her feel very guilty.
The next morning at ten o'clock, Shouya drove to An Xin Ya's house. She was in her room at the time, and Grandma An told him that she had cried last night because of Wushuang's injury and was still feeling guilty.
Hearing that Xinya had cried made Shouya very worried.
At that moment, Grandma An went to knock on her door and told her that Brother Shouya had arrived.
Not long after, An Xin Ya finally opened the door and walked out of her room.
Shouya saw that her complexion was not good, and her eyes were red and swollen; it was obvious she had been crying. He really wished he could have been by her side last night, offering his shoulder or embrace to comfort her.
When An Xin Ya heard that Shouya was there, a smile appeared on her face as she said, "Brother Shouya, you’re here!"
"Yeah, did you sleep well last night?" Shouya asked with concern, but seeing her haggard appearance made him realize she hadn’t slept well due to feeling guilty about Wushuang.
"It was okay!" An Xin Ya replied dismissively and quickly changed the subject. "Brother Shouya, can we go to the hospital now?"
"Yes, we can." Shouya's expression remained serious, his deep gaze gentle yet filled with worry.
"Grandma, we're leaving," An Xin Ya said to her grandmother who was busy in the kitchen.
"Wait a moment." Grandma An came out of the kitchen with a thermos and said to Shouya, "This is the bone soup I made for Wushuang this morning. Make sure to give it to her. Also, please send my regards to her."
Shouya took the thermos from her hand and smiled slightly, saying, "Yeah, I will."
As they stepped out of the house, Grandma An stood at the door, watching their figures and reminding them to be careful on the road.
Shouya supported An Xin Ya as they walked down the stairs, then opened the car door for her and helped her into the passenger seat. He glanced at her again and felt a bit worried about her condition.
Walking around to the driver's seat, he noticed that she seemed a bit dazed and had forgotten to buckle her seatbelt. He took the initiative to help her with it, and she hoarsely thanked him.
On the way to the hospital, An Xin Ya didn't say a word, sitting there lost in thought.
Seeing her like this made Shouya anxious; he felt that the atmosphere in the car was somewhat oppressive. Suddenly, he spoke up, "You know? The man who injured Wushuang yesterday is Josen Doug, the young master of Puston Group. He was driving under the influence, and Lefas has already sent Mike to deal with him."
"Did they kill him?" An Xin Ya asked upon hearing the word "deal," recalling how tense Rafas had been about Wushuang's injuries. She remembered being present when he furiously ordered someone to catch the person who hurt Wushuang.
She didn't understand Rafas, but hearing his domineering tone made it clear that he was a ruthless man.
"No, he's currently detained at the police station. And Josen's father is Majef, a relatively mild-mannered person. However, no one expected that because of his wayward son, he would provoke someone as fierce as Rafas, leading to a whole mess of legal troubles." This information came from Mike, and he looked down on such people.
An Xin Ya listened carefully; the relationships among these characters seemed quite complex. But she didn't care about that; she only cared about Wushuang's condition. As for whether that guy named Josen would end up dead, she didn't want to know.
Upon arriving at the hospital, Shouya helped An Xin Ya out of the car, and they slowly walked into the hospital towards Wushuang's ward. However, before they could enter, the door opened, revealing Rafas.
"What are you two doing here?" Rafas looked at Shouya with sharp eyes like an eagle, also sizing up the woman beside him, An Xin Ya. This woman bore some resemblance to Wushuang, indicating that Shouya still had traces of Wushuang in his heart.
