"Zhang Zhenghao, you are talking nonsense..." Bai Jingsong exploded again, gritting his teeth and shouting. If it weren't for the police holding him back, he might have rushed forward to hit someone.
Both sides presented their arguments fiercely. Lawyer Luo Zhanpeng demanded evidence to prove that An Xin Ya was Bai Jingyan's daughter, but the prosecution could not provide any evidence at that moment. The case was halted for deliberation, and the judge needed to retreat with the jury to discuss, postponing the case until the third day. As everyone rose to leave the courtroom, they all filed out through the court doors.
All witnesses were protected by the police around the clock, as Shouya had requested.
Fuming, Bai Jingsong stepped outside, glaring at Shouya and An Xin Ya beside him. He did not expect Shouya's wife to be his elder brother's illegitimate daughter; it turned out their approach was all part of a plan. After living most of his life, he was caught off guard by his brother's daughter!
An Xin Ya was not afraid of Bai Jingsong; she calmly looked at her malicious uncle, determined to reclaim everything that belonged to her.
Bai Jingsong was furious and got into his car to leave. He would not let this go easily. That day he called his wife, hoping she could help him since her family had some influence in Beijing.
"Wife, you have to help me this time; otherwise, I'm done for." As soon as he returned home, Bai Jingsong knelt at his wife's feet, pleading desperately.
His wife, Shang Ruxue, was the vice director of Shang Group Co., Ltd. in Beijing. She already knew about her husband's legal troubles.
Shang Ruxue frowned tightly, glaring angrily at her useless husband. How had she ever fallen for him and married him? But no matter what, he was still her husband, and they had two children together; if she didn't help him, who would?
"You... you..." Shang Ruxue angrily poked his forehead with her finger and asked indignantly, "How many more things are you hiding from me?"
"I..." At this point, Bai Jingsong had no choice but to confess about the huge debts he had incurred in the past and how he had set his sights on his brother Bai Jingyan's inheritance. However, he never expected that his brother had a daughter outside whom he brought back to raise, leaving all the inheritance to her. Fortunately, both he and his sister-in-law had been involved in an accident that year; he secretly sought out Lawyer Zhang who handled the will and threatened him to modify it before sending his brother's illegitimate child to an orphanage.
Hearing Bai Jingsong recount his actions from that night filled Shang Ruxue with anger and despair. She couldn't believe her husband would scheme against his own brother's inheritance; it truly tarnished her reputation as his wife.
"Wife, you have to help me this time; otherwise, I will end up in prison." Bai Jingsong pleaded again; apart from his wife, no one else was willing to help him.
"I want to help you too, but do you know who you've messed with? It's Mokani Group from Las Vegas. No one dares provoke that group; even the British Third Prince serves them by managing Halsen Group in England. Shouya is one of Mokani's shareholders and has a close relationship with Rafas. I'm powerless in this situation." Shang Ruxue felt helpless and overwhelmed; she supported her head with her hand and sighed deeply before leaving without saying another word.
"Wife! Please don't go! Help me..." Bai Jingsong grabbed Shang Ruxue's arm as she stood up, furrowing his brow in desperation. Suddenly an idea struck him; he brightened up and said, "Isn't your father a chairman? Everyone in business or law enforcement gives him some respect. Why not ask him to intervene on my behalf? Otherwise, I really will end up in prison! Can you bear to see me spend my life behind bars?"
"Our family does have some influence, but don't forget that we're up against a giant like Monica Group. I've also found out that your brother's daughter has support from the British Royal Family behind her. No matter how rich or powerful we are, we have no choice but to bow down; I'm truly powerless here. I need to return to my parents' house for a few days; take care of yourself." Shang Ruxue pushed Bai Jingsong away and walked straight out of the Bai Family home, getting into a car to return to her parents' house. She had already arranged for someone to bring their two children back there.
Despite saying this, Shang Ruxue still pleaded with her father Shang Tianxiong on behalf of Bai Jingsong. However, no matter what he said, Shang Tianxiong refused to help him out. He declared that he did not consider Bai Jingsong a son-in-law at all and called a lawyer to draft a divorce agreement requiring his daughter to divorce Bai Jingsong. The two grandchildren would be raised by the mother while the father would have no rights or obligations regarding them and would have no visitation rights whatsoever; thus severing all ties with the Shang family.
Shang Ruxue was unwilling to divorce Bai Jingsong no matter what. After all, he was her husband and the father of their two children; she did not agree with her father's actions.
That evening, An Xin Ya sat in the living room with a furrowed brow when Shouya approached her, wrapping his arms around her and gently asking what she was thinking.
She said, "Isn't this too extreme?"
Hearing her words, Shouya paused for a moment before gently pushing her away. His dark eyes looked at her tenderly as he said, "Xinya, you can't think like that. Someone like him deserves to be punished by the law, and the law does not consider personal feelings. He broke the law, and no one can help him; this is his own doing. So you must not feel any sympathy. Sometimes, being kind-hearted can lead to your own suffering in the end!"
An Xin Ya looked at Brother Shouya with a conflicted expression. She didn't speak but gently leaned into his embrace, lost in thought.
The next day, Shouya sent someone to search Bai Jingsong's home and company for any belongings related to Bai Jingyan.
Bai Jingsong ordered his people to stop them, but they presented a search warrant from the prosecutor's office. At that moment, Bai Jingsong was stunned, collapsing onto the sofa.
They finally found some of Bai Jingyan's belongings and obtained a sample of his hair to take to the hospital for DNA testing. The results confirmed that An Xin Ya was indeed Bai Jingyan's daughter, also known as Bai Huixin.
On the third day of the trial, Bai Jingsong appeared much older in just two days; his hair had turned noticeably gray, and he had developed a thick stubble around his mouth, indicating he hadn't slept well during that time.
Xinya remained silent in the plaintiff's seat as she had been two days prior. Bai Jingsong glared at everyone in the courtroom, his gaze lingering on An Xin Ya before he took his seat at the defendant's table. Last night, he had consulted with his private lawyer, Lawyer Luo Zhanpeng, who informed him that all evidence was against him and that he could face imprisonment at any moment.
As the court session began, prosecutor Annie presented An Xin Ya's DNA report along with Bai Jingyan's report for the judge to review. After examination by a doctor, it was confirmed that their DNA matched perfectly, proving that An Xin Ya was indeed Bai Jingyan's daughter.
Upon hearing this news, Bai Jingsong felt as if he had fallen into an abyss, utterly crushed as he sat there in shock. An Xin Ya was truly his brother's daughter—the child he had sent to an orphanage years ago. Why hadn't he sent her further away or eliminated her back then?
Later on, the prosecutor called forth the person responsible for taking Xinya to the orphanage. After some statements were made, all evidence pointed towards Bai Jingsong.
Finally, the judge declared: "I hereby announce that Defendant Bai Jingsong is guilty of bribery and inheritance theft and will be sentenced to life imprisonment. The properties and inheritance obtained by the defendant shall be returned entirely to Ms. An Xin Ya."
Bai Jingsong trembled all over as he slumped weakly in his chair. Two police officers handcuffed him and dragged him away.
An Xin Ya watched calmly as Bai Jingsong was taken out of the courtroom. Shouya approached her and placed a comforting hand on her shoulder without saying a word as they both walked out of the courtroom together. Outside the main entrance, they saw Bai Jingsong being pushed into a police car before it drove away.
After everything that had happened, An Xin Ya felt a bit tired, but she finally reclaimed everything her father had. It was a way to comfort his spirit in the afterlife.
With everything settled, the Bai Family returned to Xinya's hands.
That day, Shouya gathered all the shareholders of the Bai Family in the conference room and revealed An Xin Ya's true identity to them. Everyone applauded enthusiastically, showing their respect.
An Xin Ya maintained a smile, but she felt somewhat nervous facing these senior uncles. The Bai Family had finally been reclaimed, yet she didn't know how to manage it, so she left it to Shouya.
Shouya instructed Rowe to check the previous accounts of the Bai Family while he took this opportunity to accompany An Xin Ya to West Quiet Cemetery to pay respects to her father, bringing Bai Baihe and chrysanthemums. She spoke a lot at her father's grave while Shouya quietly stood by her side.
That day, it suddenly started pouring rain. They hurriedly left West Quiet Cemetery in the rain and got into the car, driving back to Millennium Hotel.
As soon as they returned to the hotel, the rain stopped, and a beautiful rainbow appeared in the sky! This was what they called sunshine after rain.
That evening, Shouya took Xinya out for a candlelight dinner with no lights except for candles. Dressed in a white shirt and dark suit, Shouya raised his glass, his eyes sparkling with brilliance, and with an elegant smile said, "Congratulations, you have finally reclaimed the Bai Family."
Under the dim light, An Xin Ya looked beautiful and pure with a sweet smile. She raised her glass and said, "I owe this all to you, Brother Shouya. If it weren't for you, I think I would never have been able to reclaim the Bai Family and would have watched my father's company fall into the hands of bad people. Thank you!"
An Xin Ya sincerely thanked Shouya. Since she met him, he had always been by her side, silently supporting her with meticulous care and tenderness, loving her, protecting her, and pampering her...
Shouya gently clinked his crystal glass against An Xin Ya's wine glass, producing a clear sound. He then lifted it up and drank deeply; the rich flavor filled his mouth and brought a refreshing sensation to his stomach!
