In the year 2020, City A was filled with bright lights and a bustling nightlife. Lin Feng dragged his heavy suitcase back home, eager to surprise his wife and daughter. After five years, he was finally back.
However, when he pushed open the bedroom door, he was met with a chilling scene.
" Liu Liuwen, is this how you've treated me all these years?!" Lin Feng spoke coldly, his voice devoid of any emotion, as if he were discussing someone else's affairs.
She jumped up from the bed in a panic, while the man beside her wore a calm expression, even sporting a hint of mockery. He leisurely put on his clothes and, before leaving, patted Lin Feng on the shoulder with a victorious demeanor and softly said, "She's mine now."
Lin Feng watched everything expressionlessly, feeling no anger or sadness—only an absurd calmness, as if he were watching a farce and was merely an inconsequential spectator.
Lin Feng turned and left the room, ignoring Liu Liuwen's cries and explanations. Years of patience and sacrifice had resulted in betrayal; his heart had already died. The cold air rushed into his nostrils as he took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down. At the end of the corridor came the sweet voice of his daughter, Lin Keke: "Daddy, you're back!" Lin Feng forced himself to perk up, managing a faint smile as he walked toward his daughter's room.
"Keke, Daddy is back." Lin Feng picked up his daughter and kissed her little face; her smile was like a ray of sunshine that illuminated his gloomy heart.
"Daddy, what's wrong? Are you too tired from work?" Keke noticed something was off with him, her big eyes filled with concern.
"I'm fine; just a bit tired. I'll be okay after some rest," Lin Feng said as he stroked his daughter's soft hair, filled with guilt. He didn't want her to see him in such disarray; he still needed to provide for her.
After settling Keke down, Lin Feng dialed his lawyer's number: "Lawyer Wang, I need your help. I want a divorce." His tone was firm and resolute.
"Mr. Lin, what happened? You need to calm down; can we talk about this later?" Lawyer Wang's voice on the other end was filled with worry.
"I've made my decision. I'll come to your office tomorrow to discuss the details in person," Lin Feng replied before hanging up. He didn't want to waste any more time; he needed to end this quickly.
After putting down the phone, Lin Feng began investigating that man—Chen Qiang. He opened his computer and typed in Chen Qiang's name; an overwhelming amount of news articles flooded the screen. He was a wealthy second-generation heir, a typical playboy who took pleasure in manipulating women. Lin Feng clenched his fists as a fierce glint flashed in his eyes. He vowed to reclaim everything that belonged to him—his dignity and his daughter!
A cold light flashed in Lin Feng's eyes. He took a deep breath, turned off the computer screen, and walked to the window, overlooking the dazzling night view of City A, yet his heart was devoid of any waves. Five years of experience abroad had instilled in him the habit of keeping his emotions in check. Chen Qiang, do you think you've won? The things belonging to me, Lin Feng, are not so easily taken!
Early the next morning, Lin Feng, dressed in a suit, drove to Lawyer Wang's office. Lawyer Wang was a long-time friend of Lin Feng and a well-known divorce attorney in the industry. He understood Lin Feng's character well and felt great sympathy for his situation, while also being confident about the divorce case.
"Lawyer Wang, I need you to help me fight for custody of my daughter; I can give up everything else," Lin Feng said as he pushed a document folder in front of Lawyer Wang, his tone firm and unwavering.
Lawyer Wang took the folder, opened it for a glance, and frowned slightly. "Lin Feng, have you thought this through? This agreement is not very favorable for you."
