Liu Liuwen tightly clutched the divorce agreement, her fingertips turning white as tears blurred the words on the document. She wanted to explain, but found no words to say, ultimately only able to weakly nod.
A few days later, Lin Feng held a press conference where he publicly revealed that Chen Qiang had used illegal means to embezzle company assets and had conspired with Liu Liuwen to deceive him. He also announced his resignation from all company positions and stated that he would devote himself entirely to a new career to create a better life for his daughter.
After the press conference, Lin Feng's situation caused a huge uproar. Reporters flocked to him, thrusting microphones in his face as camera flashes went off continuously.
"Mr. Lin, how do you plan to hold Chen Qiang accountable for his actions?" one reporter asked eagerly.
Lin Feng took a deep breath, his tone calm yet firm: "I have submitted all evidence to the police and trust that the law will give him a fair trial."
"And what about Ms. Liu? Will you forgive her?" another reporter pressed.
Upon hearing this question, a flicker of pain crossed Lin Feng's face. He remained silent for a moment before slowly responding: "We have parted ways amicably, and I hope everyone will stop bothering her. As for forgiveness, I believe that is a matter of time and something between the two of us."
The press conference lasted nearly two hours, during which Lin Feng maintained his composure and restraint, answering all questions posed by the reporters. Finally, he stood up, bowed to everyone, and turned to leave the venue.
Public opinion overwhelmingly supported Lin Feng while condemning Liu Liuwen and Chen Qiang for their betrayal. The flood of news reports and online comments turned Chen Qiang into a pariah, with everyone calling for his downfall.
"Damn Lin Feng! How dare he do this to me!" Chen Qiang angrily smashed his phone onto the ground, shattering the screen into a spiderweb of cracks.
He had originally thought that with his family background and financial power, he could easily trample Lin Feng underfoot; however, he never expected that in the end, he would end up shooting himself in the foot.
Under pressure from public opinion, Chen Qiang had no choice but to sell off assets to repay part of the losses incurred by Lin Feng's company and publicly apologize.
"I'm sorry, I was wrong. I shouldn't have let greed blind me and done things that hurt Lin Feng and the company..." Chen Qiang lowered his head, his tone filled with regret and unwillingness.
However, none of this could make up for the harm he caused Lin Feng, nor could it quell the hatred he felt towards him.
Meanwhile, far away in a foreign land, Liu Liuwen was collapsing under immense pressure and ultimately chose to leave City A to start anew in a place where no one knew her.
Before leaving, she sent Lin Feng a text message: "I'm sorry, I let you down. I hope you can be happy."
Looking at the message, Lin Feng felt a mix of emotions. He knew that Liu Liuwen's choice might be the best outcome, but there remained a trace of regret in his heart.
Time is the best medicine; it can dull all pain.
With his exceptional talent and determination, Lin Feng led the company back on track and achieved even greater success. He devoted all his time and energy to work and caring for his daughter, striving to forget the past and start a new life.
Su Qing had always been by Lin Feng's side, silently supporting him. She admired Lin Feng's abilities and character, but was even more moved by his love and sense of responsibility towards his daughter.
"Lin Feng, you look very tired today. You should go home and rest early; I'm here for you," Su Qing said as she handed him a cup of coffee with concern.
Lin Feng took the coffee and smiled gratefully, "Thank you, Su Qing. You've worked hard during this time."
"We're friends; it's what I should do," Su Qing replied with a hint of shyness on her face.
Lin Feng took a sip of coffee, a warm current surging in his heart. He knew that Su Qing's feelings for him had surpassed those of ordinary friends, but he was not yet ready to start a new relationship.
"It's getting late; let me drive you home," Lin Feng said as he stood up and grabbed his coat.
"Okay," Su Qing nodded, and the two walked out of the company side by side.
As night fell and the lights began to shine, the bustling streets of City A were as vibrant as ever. Lin Feng drove on the way home, with his daughter's favorite nursery rhymes playing in the car. A faint smile appeared on his lips; perhaps this was the happy life he desired.
