Qin Xinyi is the cousin of Qin Xian.
When Xin Yi was still in his mother's womb, his father died from excessive blood loss after being hit on the back of the head with a bottle during a drunken altercation.
As a result, he became a posthumous child.
Perhaps due to his mother's emotional turmoil at that time, which was detrimental to the baby's healthy growth, he was born a month and a half early. After his birth, he was physically weak and had to rely on medicine from a young age.
Old Qin has always been very concerned about his grandson, often reluctant to let him go outside and interact with others for fear of bad air and germs.
It wasn't until he grew up that Qin Xian specifically sought out a renowned traditional Chinese medicine practitioner to help him recover, and his health improved significantly.
He had no particular hobbies except for cooking.
He once said that seeing others eat the food he prepared filled him with a sense of accomplishment and happiness.
In that moment, he felt he was not so weak and incapable.
Despite facing serious opposition from Old Qin and misunderstanding from the Qin family, he persisted in doing what he wanted with the support of just one person.
That person was Qin Xian.
Later, with Qin Xian's financial support, he opened his own restaurant, which opened at four in the afternoon and closed at ten in the evening.
He only served five customers each day.
Life was simple and uneventful, without any waves or feelings of boredom.
Until one day, he met a girl.
The first time she came with friends, she praised his cooking skills endlessly.
From that moment on, they became more familiar with each other, meeting once, twice, and then more often. Sometimes, there was no need for reservations; Qin Xinyi would instinctively save a spot for her.
They understood each other without needing to say much, their chemistry was undeniable.
What’s more, they had great conversations and shared many common interests and views.
Qin Xinyi was happier than ever before, even more so than when he was cooking.
Every moment spent with her felt like a sweet indulgence.
But Qin Xinyi was self-aware; he knew he was not worthy of someone as bright and cheerful as her.
With his current state, being with her would only be a burden to her.
So he remained by her side as a friend and confidant, listening to her troubles, her joys, the people she met, and the experiences she had.
However, one day, the girl suddenly disappeared without any warning.
She never returned to the restaurant again, never ordered her favorite pickled fish, and never flashed him that radiant smile.
She didn’t smile and introduce herself with a handshake, saying, “Hello, my name is Lu Qisheng.”
Her phone was unreachable, and almost all means of contact failed.
Qin Xinyi panicked and hurriedly sought help from Qin Xian, asking him to find this girl.
Finally, he got her location and rushed over without delay.
However, through the slightly ajar door of her house, he witnessed a horrifying scene: the girl he cherished was being violently pushed to the ground by someone else.
She was kicked, slapped, and even had her phone picked up from the table and smashed against her.
She lay helplessly on the ground, gasping for breath, her body and face covered in numerous bruises and swelling, a sight that was truly frightening.
Her face was stained with desperate tears, her gaze blankly staring ahead, her eyes devoid of any light, resembling dead ashes.
Seeing this scene, Qin Xinyi felt a sharp pain in his heart.
The middle-aged man stood over her, looking down at her with disdain. He held a bottle of alcohol in his hand, tilted his head back to take a swig, and drunkenly cursed, "You little slut, now you live in such a nice place. You won't even bail your father out early, making me stay in prison for two extra years. Damn it!"
While cursing at her, he kicked her hard again to vent his anger. "Hurry up and take all your money out!"
"Otherwise, I'll beat you to death today!"
His eyes were bloodshot from drunkenness, reflecting his brutality, greed, and complete lack of humanity.
Lu Qisheng lay weakly on the ground, gasping for breath as if she might not survive another second.
Hearing his words, she forced a mocking smile through her painful lips. The more she smiled, the deeper it became until tears streamed down her face.
Her laughter successfully enraged the already deranged middle-aged man. He raised the beer bottle in his hand, ready to smash it down on her.
Lu Qisheng closed her eyes tightly, already biting her lip in preparation for the pain she expected to endure.
However, after three seconds of waiting, she did not feel the anticipated pain.
Instead, she was met by Qin Xinyi.
He grabbed the bottle from the middle-aged man's hand with all his strength and yanked it away, throwing it forcefully into the distance.
With a loud crash, the glass bottle shattered, sending fragments flying everywhere.
The middle-aged man was startled by this sudden appearance and momentarily froze, staring at Qin Xinyi's cold expression in shock.
In the next moment, Qin Xinyi seized his hand and pushed him hard.
Caught off guard, the middle-aged man slammed against the coffee table with a thud, hitting his lower back on the edge of the table, which caused a sharp pain to shoot through him.
"Damn it!" he shouted angrily.
Meanwhile, Qin Xinyi ignored him and walked straight towards Lu Qisheng, who was collapsed on the ground.
Her body was covered in bruises, and her once cute and obedient face was now obscured by disheveled hair, stained with sweat and blood.
He looked at her with evident pain on his face, his brows furrowed with concern and pity.
He crouched down slowly and reached out to her with the gentlest voice he could muster, "Lu Qisheng, come on, I'll take you away."
Lu Qisheng looked up at him, and in that moment, tears streamed down her face, falling onto his hand and burning him.
Never had anyone appeared like a savior from the heavens during her time of torment, rescuing her from the depths of despair.
How could she not be amazed, how could she not be moved, how could she willingly accept him?
With tears flowing, she nodded lightly, curled her arms, and endured the pain as she struggled to get up from the ground.
Qin Xinyi carefully supported her shoulder, afraid to touch any unknown wounds on her body.
With his help, Lu Qisheng finally managed to stand up, albeit unsteadily.
She looked at him and couldn't help but burst into tears, unable to stop the flow.
Qin Xinyi comforted her while helping her walk step by step toward the exit.
But the middle-aged man behind them would not let them go so easily. He gasped for breath as he got up, glaring at their figures with a fierce look in his eyes. He sneered coldly, "Want to leave? Not a chance."
He glanced at the man beside Lu Qisheng with a shifty gaze, observing his pale and slender frame dressed in designer clothes, exuding an air of luxury with every movement.
"I wondered how you ended up in such a nice place; turns out you've found yourself a sugar daddy, you little slut."
"Show some respect when you speak," Qin Xinyi said with a frown, unwilling to hear the vulgarity in his words.
