"Brother, this is between him and me. Please don't interfere, okay?"
Shu Yi was pulled aside by Shu Ran to the flowerbed, quietly discussing her request for him to stop arguing with Qin Xian.
After all, regarding the matter of marriage, it had always been her decision from start to finish.
And he was merely choosing to agree or disagree.
She had never made any major decisions throughout her life. She had always walked the path they planned for her, obedient and compliant, never resisting.
Like a vase in a greenhouse, she had never faced strong winds or storms, living under the careful nurturing of others.
They thought this was for her own good, but unfortunately, it was not.
They taught her to be obedient, naive, and understanding. Yet they never taught her how to be independent and self-reliant.
Then they would leave, abandoning her alone.
Leaving her to bear the overwhelming pain and the complexities of human relationships on her own.
She would be tempered through repeated blows, shedding her old self and transforming into a stronger version of herself.
But how much sorrow, pain, and difficulty would that entail? Could she truly endure it?
Shu Ran did not know.
She had never thought so much before; she had never dared to think that way.
The nightmares that haunted her in the dead of night had followed her for so many years. The sadness was already self-evident; how could she dare to think negatively any further?
All she knew was that starting from this moment, she wanted to make an important decision for herself.
Even if it ends up with regrets and sadness, she still wants to hit the wall and not look back just this once.
Let her be willful for once.
She thought for a moment, let out a light sigh, and gently expressed her feelings to her brother: "Brother, I've never made any big decisions. But when it comes to my marriage, I want to make my own choice. I know whether he is good or bad; you don't need to worry."
Shu Yi raised his gaze to look at her, remaining silent for a long time.
Sigh.
In truth, he didn't necessarily want to break them apart; as her brother, he couldn't help but worry that she might be deceived and hurt.
After all, marriage is a lifelong commitment.
But now that she had said this, how could Shu Yi not understand? How could he persuade her otherwise?
He sighed and ultimately compromised. On one hand was his sister's attitude, and on the other was his understanding of her character. She had always been calm and steady, with her own principles and boundaries in everything she did. In the end, he chose to trust her; there must be a reason for her decision, and it must have been well thought out.
So, fine, he would support her.
After all, this was a significant matter in her life.
No matter how much others entangled themselves in advice, what mattered most was her own will.
Fine, it's rare that she is willing to take the initiative.
It's rare that she likes someone.
Qin Xian stood alone in front of the hospital building for a long time. He was tall and handsome, exuding an extraordinary presence that drew the attention of passersby.
When Shu Ran was taking Shu Yi back, two girls were surrounding him, chattering away and occasionally casting meaningful glances in his direction, their cheeks flushed with shyness.
As for him, he wore a dark expression throughout, exuding a strong sense of displeasure, as if an icy chill was about to freeze everything around him.
Finally, when the two girls called out to him for the third time, he parted his lips slightly and coldly said, "Get lost."
The two girls exchanged awkward glances, silently suppressing their smiles before turning to leave.
The world finally quieted down. Qin Xian furrowed her brows but then remembered the woman who had been taken away by her brother had not returned, causing her heart to feel heavy and restless again.
Just as she was thinking about this, a voice came from behind her, "Qin Xian."
Qin Xian turned around and saw her standing in front of him with a radiant smile, the joy in her eyes stretching to the corners of her mouth, warm like spring.
She extended her soft and delicate hand slowly towards him. "Let's go."
Qin Xian glanced at Shu Yi behind her, noticing his wavering gaze. He looked back at her outstretched hand and then at Shu Ran's affectionate eyes. In the end, he pursed his lips and remained silent.
A slight smile appeared on his lips for a fleeting moment.
He took her hand, their fingers intertwined, gazing into each other's eyes with bright smiles.
Before getting into the car, Shu Ran turned back to give Shu Yi a deep look, emotions swirling in her eyes that were hard to decipher.
Shu Yi felt a surge of complicated emotions within him; after all, his sister of so many years had suddenly decided to marry someone else today.
It truly hurt his heart and was difficult to accept all at once.
Watching her about to leave while glancing back at him with reluctance made Shu Yi's eyes well up with unshed tears. He looked up as if trying to bury all his emotions deep inside, stubbornly refusing to let anyone see.
He lowered his gaze and took one last look at her before turning around and walking straight into the hospital building without looking back.
Shu Ran withdrew her gaze, standing still for a few seconds before slowly getting into the car.
Inside the car.
Chen Jin sat in the front seat, silently driving, his eyes fixed straight ahead, not daring to glance back.
Since getting into the car, Shu Ran seemed preoccupied, staring out the window with an unreadable expression.
Qin Xian sat beside her, frowning slightly, and squeezed her soft hand in dissatisfaction. When she turned her head in confusion due to the pain, he leaned in and captured her lips with a passionate kiss, forceful and domineering, occupying all her thoughts.
"Mm..." Shu Ran pushed him away slightly, signaling that there was someone in the front seat.
But how could Qin Xian easily give up on his prey? He naturally held her tightly and savored this sweet moment slowly.
In the front seat, Chen Jin straightened his back even more upon hearing the sounds from behind. He sat like a wooden figure, focused on driving, ears closed off and eyes averted.
At first, Shu Ran struggled fiercely, but eventually unable to resist his strength, she had no choice but to surrender and let him kiss her.
With the resistance fading, Qin Xian kissed her more deeply and passionately. He alternated between gently licking her crimson lips and fiercely entangling their tongues, lost in each other.
