Today is December 25th, and the kindergarten's supplementary courses have officially ended. The end-of-term party will begin at five in the afternoon, and Shu Ran, as the teacher and the main person in charge of the kindergarten, has naturally been invited to attend.
Ji Changge and Director Shang had sent her the invitation early in the morning, hoping she would come to observe the children's performances and distribute gifts and prizes to them.
The party is rich in content, featuring a variety of performances by the children, including singing, dancing, drumming, and playing the piano, as well as various creative parent-child activities.
This is Innocent Kindergarten's first large-scale event since her father passed away.
Shu Ran naturally wants to join in the fun; she had arranged her schedule well in advance. She initially thought Qin Xian would accompany her, after all, he is the true behind-the-scenes major shareholder of the kindergarten. The ownership she holds is actually given to her by him.
Without his three million, and without the human resources he gathered, there would be none of what exists today.
Shu Ran knows very well that she has always regarded that three million as a loan from Qin Xian. Regardless of whether they are married or not, she firmly believes she must pay him back.
So she has been quietly saving up; with the monthly operational dividends from the kindergarten, some pocket money given to her by his brother, and a portion of savings left by Shu Mother before her passing, she has now saved nearly one million.
Shu Ran thinks about how she spends her days at home doing nothing and has no income, relying entirely on Qin Xian for support. This lifestyle feels too decadent for her. She doesn't like it and plans to find a job when the new year begins; this way, she can have an additional source of income and repay him sooner.
Shu Ran's thoughts swirl in her mind as she sits in the car waiting for A-Chang to take her back to the kindergarten.
Earlier in the morning, after a deep kiss, Qin Xian suddenly told her he had some matters to attend to today and would likely not be able to accompany her to the party.
Shu Ran waved her hand, straightened his collar gently while gazing at him tenderly, reminding him not to overexert himself and to take care of his rest.
She didn't ask him where he was going nor did she inquire about Chen Jin at the door, who looked serious along with a group of men in black.
All she saw was Qin Xian's dark eyes fixed on Chen Jin before getting into the car; that cold gaze was unmasked and hit her like a wave, leaving her momentarily dazed.
But it was only for a moment. He turned around and gently expressed his concern for her, urging her to go inside so she wouldn't catch a chill, his demeanor incredibly warm and considerate, radiating a gentle aura. It was as if he were an entirely different person from just moments ago, leaving Shu Ran questioning whether she had seen him correctly.
He had left the house at ten in the morning, and by the time she was about to leave at four in the afternoon, he still hadn't returned. He had only called once during that time to ask if she was eating properly, and since then, there had been no sign of him.
This was the first time Shu Ran realized how little she knew about him.
The outside world often spoke of him as ruthless and decisive, with a character that was strange and hard to predict. However, during their interactions, she truly felt none of that.
In her eyes, Qin Xian seemed like a child—capable of throwing tantrums and needing comfort. Sometimes he could be domineering, other times fragile; he would bully her yet also treat her exceptionally well. Perhaps this was what people meant when they said his character was strange and unpredictable. But aside from that, he lacked all the traits others described.
Shu Ran sat in the back seat, gazing out at the scenery, her thoughts drifting.
As the car passed over a speed bump, the slight jolt brought her back to reality. She turned to look at A-Chang, who was focused on driving, and casually asked, "A-Chang, what kind of person do you think your Qin Shao is?"
The car had been very quiet until then; it was just her and A-Chang. From the beginning, Shu Ran had been silently observing the scenery outside, appearing not very talkative.
A-Chang hesitated to speak with her ever since Qin Xian had yelled at Shu Ran in the hospital. After that incident, A-Chang had been punished with several days of intense training that nearly exhausted him. He had learned a harsh lesson: Young Mistress was extremely important to Qin Shao and should not be offended. Even before they were married, Qin Shao cared for her deeply; now that they were married, any careless words or actions that upset her could cost him dearly.
Thus, one remained silent while the other dared not speak, resulting in an oppressive silence within the car.
Ke Shuran finally broke the silence. A-Chang was so focused on driving that he was startled when Young Mistress suddenly spoke up. It took him a moment to process her question.
But once he regained his composure, he found himself wishing he hadn't.
Why?
Because Young Mistress had asked him what kind of person Qin Shao was.
A-Chang swallowed hard, feeling an inexplicable chill run down his spine.
What was the Young Mistress doing? Why did she suddenly ask him what kind of person Qin Shao was?
A-Chang glanced suspiciously at the rearview mirror. The Young Mistress in the back seat was sitting upright, quietly watching his profile as if waiting for his answer.
For a moment, his mind raced with countless thoughts, various chaotic ideas swirling in his head.
Could it be that the Young Mistress still held a grudge about the last time he yelled at her? Was she specifically asking this question to test his loyalty to Qin Shao? If he didn't answer well, would the Young Mistress go and complain? Then Qin Shao would believe her, and if Qin Shao believed her, he would get angry? If he got angry, he would be kicked out of the Qin Family?
My God, thinking of this made A-Chang shiver involuntarily, and even his gaze towards Shu Ran carried a hint of fear.
What would he do if that really happened?
A-Chang thought to himself that he was completely loyal to Qin Shao; he had saved his entire family, and there was absolutely no way he could betray him.
