Li Xingyu left, and Li Chengji's face turned bright red.
"Don't glare at me; go look in the mirror and see how scary you look right now."
"And if you want money, there's none. If you want a life, that's up to you."
"Dong Ling, you're something else." Li Chengji dropped this line and turned to leave.
His expression was dark, and it was hard to tell what trouble he was planning.
But I didn't care about him.
With this time, I might as well focus on healing.
After all, the wedding was just a few days away.
As the wedding day approached, my mom said it would be best for both families to have a meal together first.
My mom was very pleased with Li Xingyu as her son-in-law.
Li Xingyu was mature and steady, successful in his career, wealthy and free, handsome with a good figure, and he didn't mess around.
Unlike Li Chengji, who had nothing going for him except good genes.
My mom suggested that both families have a meal together to meet each other.
Li Xingyu looked uncomfortable: "Is it appropriate for me to go?"
"Why wouldn't it be appropriate?" My mom glared at him. "You two are getting married!"
"Of course it's appropriate," Li Xingyu lightly coughed. "Um, Lingling, shall we pick out a gift for Uncle and Aunt together?"
"Alright," I replied reluctantly, "since you're being so sincere."
"Thank you, my wife." Li Xingyu grabbed the car keys and headed out.
At the mall, Li Xingyu and I carefully selected a gift for the meeting.
"What about this?" Li Xingyu asked, holding up a tea set.
"It's okay," I said half-heartedly.
"Then how about this one?" Li Xingyu confirmed again.
"Sure," I replied still half-heartedly.
Li Xingyu smiled and swiped the card to pay.
"I'll pay for myself," I said.
"I'll take care of it," Li Xingyu pressed down on my card, "This is my gesture."
Alright then.
After buying the gift and returning home, my mom was particularly pleased.
"Xingyu is really thoughtful," my mom said, unable to put it down. "I've had my eye on this tea set for a long time, but it's too expensive, so I never bought it."
"Right, Mom? You think this is nice too?" Li Xingyu smiled sincerely. "Lingling and I looked at several sets, and this one is her favorite."
"Oh my, what a good man!" My mom was very excited. "Lingling, you’ve really struck gold; Li Chengji is nowhere near as good as him!"
Even my dad rarely smiled.
While checking out, I caught sight of two familiar figures out of the corner of my eye.
It seemed to be Li Chengji and Wang Qiling.
"What are you looking at?" Li Xingyu asked.
"Nothing," I shook my head. "Just looking at your son and your future daughter-in-law."
Li Xingyu's expression became awkward: "What do you mean my son? Don't make assumptions."
"Isn't your son my son?" I rolled my eyes. "He bullies me; you should help me teach him a lesson."
"Okay," Li Xingyu said seriously. "If he dares to bully you again, I'll help you deal with him."
Li Xingyu picked up the items and headed outside, and I quickly followed.
I kept an eye on Li Chengji and Wang Qiling; they followed Li Xingyu to the parking lot, looking mysterious.
Probably something about money.
I didn't think much of it.
The next day, I planned to bring Li Xingyu home for dinner.
But when it was past ten o'clock, Li Xingyu still hadn't come down.
I called him, but no one answered.
"Aunt Zhao, where is Li Xingyu?" I asked as I came downstairs.
"The sir left early this morning," Aunt Zhao replied.
"Left?" I frowned.
I also inquired about the Li Family, and it turned out that Li Xingyu had gone out early as well.
Where could he possibly go at this hour?
I couldn't reach Li Chengji...
Wait!
Could they be conspiring to kidnap Li Xingyu?
I sent someone to look for Li Xingyu and asked Uncle Zheng to return to the company to handle matters for Li Group.
Uncle Zheng is a skilled businessman, and he quickly stabilized the situation.
