Lü Qian looked at him, a hint of mockery flashing in her eyes. "You are Xie Yan, right?"
Xie Yan frowned. "That's me."
Lü Qian placed the key on the table and pushed it towards Xie Yan, calmly saying, "Mengxi asked me to give you the key."
Xie Yan picked up the key without saying a word.
Lü Qian took a sip of coffee and said softly, "I heard everything you and Mengxi talked about in the stairwell."
Xie Yan suddenly looked up at her in disbelief.
Lü Qian met her gaze, her eyes showing no signs of emotion. "Don't worry, I won't tell Mengxi."
Xie Yan frowned. "What do you want?"
Lü Qian chuckled lightly. "I just want to tell you that you and Mengxi are over. Don't harbor any more illusions about him."
Xie Yan's face turned pale as she bit her lip. "Mengxi hasn't..."
Lü Qian shrugged. "Whether he has or not, you know it yourself. I'm just kindly reminding you."
Xie Yan remained silent, her face growing whiter.
Lü Qian continued, "I've already considered you a thing of the past. I hope you have some self-awareness."
Xie Yan's face was ashen, her fingertips trembling.
She wanted to explain but couldn't utter a single word.
Indeed, she and Mengxi were over; what right did she have to explain?
Xie Yan picked up the key and stood up to leave.
Lü Qian's voice rang out again, "Xie Yan, Mengxi hates people who cling on too much. You better not do anything that would annoy him."
Xie Yan stopped in her tracks, took a deep breath, and with her back to Lü Qian, coldly replied, "I know." After saying that, she left without looking back.
Just a few steps out, Cheng Sheng suddenly appeared. After hearing Lü Qian's words, he directly took Xie Yan's hand and led her outside.
Seeing this, Lü Qian's expression changed, and she coldly said, "Cheng Sheng, you have no right to interfere in my matters."
Cheng Sheng turned back and looked at her sarcastically, "Neither do you."
Lü Qian gritted her teeth, "I will be Mengxi's legal wife."
Cheng Sheng pulled Xie Yan away without looking back.
Once they exited the café, Xie Yan finally came to her senses and looked at Cheng Sheng in surprise, "What are you doing here?"
Cheng Sheng remained silent, his thin lips pressed tightly together.
Xie Yan knew he was angry. She smiled lightly and said softly, "I'm fine; please don't be mad."
Cheng Sheng still didn't respond.
Xie Yan also fell silent as she followed Cheng Sheng into the car.
Cheng Sheng drove quickly, and Xie Yan had to grip the armrest. She glanced at Cheng Sheng and chuckled lightly, "Drive slower; I'm not in a hurry."
Cheng Sheng didn't say anything, but the car slowed down.
Xie Yan looked out the window, and suddenly her eyes felt warm; tears fell uncontrollably.
She hurriedly wiped them away, but new tears streamed down her face.
She lowered her head, biting her lip tightly to keep herself from crying out loud.
Cheng Sheng watched her, a hint of heartache flashing in his eyes. "If you want to cry, just cry."
Xie Yan could no longer hold back and burst into tears.
Cheng Sheng didn't ask any more questions; he pulled over to the side of the road and quietly stayed with her.
Xie Yan cried for a long time, until her throat was hoarse, before gradually stopping.
She wiped her tears and turned to Cheng Sheng, forcing a smile. "Sorry for making you see this."
Cheng Sheng looked at her with concern. "Why didn't you tell me?"
Xie Yan was taken aback for a moment, then realized he was referring to her situation with Mengxi.
She smiled faintly, her eyes red. "What is there to say?"
Cheng Sheng frowned. "Didn't you say he wouldn't get married?"
Xie Yan lowered her head, her fingertips trembling. "That's what he said, but he lied to me."
Cheng Sheng looked at her with heartache and didn't say anything more.
Xie Yan took a deep breath and softly said:
"Three years ago, when Mengxi was with me, he already had a girlfriend."
