"But I don't want to get married anymore." I looked at him.
" Ma Jia, I've been suppressing myself for too long; I want to be free."
" Ma Jia: Yueyue, what do you mean?"
I replied, "I mean, let's break up."
"Break up?" Ma Jia's eyes widened in disbelief as he looked at me. "You said break up?"
I nodded. "Yes."
"No way!" Ma Jia shouted angrily. "I don't agree!"
I looked at him. " Ma Jia, it's not suitable for us to be together like this."
"What’s unsuitable about it?" Ma Jia held my hands tightly.
"Yueyue, I love you so much. I've given you everything I can give. I've held you in my palms, afraid that you would get hurt even a little. Is that not enough for you?"
I shook my head. "No, that's not what I mean."
"Then what do you mean?" Ma Jia stared at me.
"Yueyue, I've long considered you my wife; I care for you in every possible way."
"I know," I lowered my gaze.
"But your love is too heavy; I can't bear it."
"You can't bear it? Then who do you want to bear it?" Ma Jia sneered. "Xiao Huai?"
"It has nothing to do with Xiao Huai." I glanced at him.
" Ma Jia, it's my problem."
"I think we are not suitable for each other, so I'm sorry."
"Sorry?" Ma Jia snorted coldly,
"Is one 'sorry' enough?"
I asked, "What do you want then?"
Ma Jia replied, "I want you not to reject me."
After saying that, he leaned down and kissed my lips.
I struggled, but he held my hands down, and I couldn't break free.
Just then, my phone rang.
I suddenly woke up and pushed him away with all my strength, escaping from the house.
It was only outside that I realized I had brought nothing with me.
My phone and keys were still at home.
With no other choice, I went to my mom's place.
When my mom asked what happened, I didn't want to say anything; I just wanted to sleep.
I caught a cold and couldn't go to work, so I called the company to take a leave.
But Xiao Huai didn't approve it.
With no choice left, I dragged my heavy body to the office.
As I entered the company, Xiao Huai glanced at me, his expression instantly turning cold:
"Jiang Yue, what happened to you?"
I looked at Xiao Huai; he was dressed in a suit and looked radiant,
standing in front of me with an invisible sense of pressure.
I hoarsely asked him, "Is this not good? Isn't this just what you need to vent your frustration?"
Xiao Huai frowned and said, "I'll go buy you some medicine."
"No, thank you." I shook my head. "I want to rest."
"Go buy some medicine." Xiao Huai's tone carried a hint of insistence.
I looked up at him. "Xiao Huai, what do you really want?"
Xiao Huai stared at me. "I don't want anything. I just want you to take your medicine."
"I'm not taking it." I shook my head. "I'm not taking it, okay?"
Xiao Huai looked at me for a long time, and finally softened his tone:
"I'm begging you, Yueyue, let's go get the medicine, alright?"
He called me Yueyue.
I looked at him and eventually nodded. "Okay."
Xiao Huai went to buy the medicine and also got me some congee.
He brought the congee to my lips and fed me spoonful by spoonful:
"The doctor said to eat first, then take the medicine."
I looked at him. "Xiao Huai, you don't have to be this nice to me."
Xiao Huai lowered his gaze. "Is it so hard for me to want to be nice to you?"
"I don't need it." I shook my head. "I don't need it, do you understand?"
Xiao Huai stared at me. "You do need it."
"I don't need it," I repeated.
Xiao Huai took a deep breath. "Let's eat first."
After finishing the meal, he took me back to my mom's place.
In the car, he glanced at my wrist and suddenly asked, "How did you get those injuries?"
