Maybe, from the day my mom left, I wanted to die. Lin Yiran walked to my hospital bed, her eyes already swollen from crying. "Jiang Hai, I'm sorry." "It's my fault that I hurt you." "Jiang Hai, please, don't leave me, okay?" "I really know I was wrong, and I will change." I sighed and touched her hair. "Lin Yiran, you should go." "I've already decided to let go; you should let me go too." "Let me start a new life." Lin Yiran cried even harder. I didn't look back and left the hospital.
After returning to the small town, I established a studio and began taking on projects independently. However, as the number of projects increased, I found that I was short on manpower. So, I started recruiting classmates from my graduate school days. Before long, Wang Huan contacted me. "Jiang Hai, I heard you set up your own studio?" "Yes, it's just the right time to add more hands." "So what do you think of me joining?" I smiled and said, "Welcome."
The next evening, I took Wang Huan out for dinner. We talked about our graduate school days and both felt very happy. It turned out that behind the scenes, Wang Huan had been quietly watching over me all along. "Jiang Hai, I never expected that after such a long time, I could still work with you." "By the way, there's a concert this weekend; will you accompany me?" I nodded and replied, "Sure."
I remember clearly that in Wang Huan's last year of graduate school, she confessed her feelings to me. At that time, my heart was filled with thoughts of Lin Yiran. Plus, I thought my mom would recover soon, so I hoped she could accept Lin Yiran's presence. Therefore, I rejected Wang Huan. I never expected she would reappear in my life. Perhaps this is fate.
A couple of days later, Wang Huan learned that I was going to attend a friend's banquet to meet new clients. She insisted on going with me. "Jiang Hai, you are now the leader of our studio; you must establish your authority."
"How can you attend such a banquet without a female companion?"
"Do you think I can?"
I nodded, "You can."
However, I didn't expect to encounter Lin Yiran at the banquet.
It seems this event was prepared by her for me.
Seeing me arrive, she excitedly walked over.
But when she noticed Wang Huan beside me, her expression instantly soured.
"Jiang Hai, you..."
"Are you really with her?"
Wang Huan wrapped her arm around mine and spoke first, "Yes."
"I am now Jiang Hai's girlfriend."
"Does Miss Lin have any advice?"
Lin Yiran's face grew even darker.
"Jiang Hai, tell me this isn't true."
"You can't possibly like her."
I sighed and helplessly said, "Lin Yiran, she really is my new girlfriend."
"We're doing well together, and I hope you won't disturb me anymore."
Lin Yiran's eyes turned red.
"Jiang Hai, why are you treating me like this?"
"Have you forgotten how good I was to you?"
"I loved you so much; why do you want to hurt me like this?"
Wang Huan scoffed:
"Miss Lin, as far as I know, where were you when Jiang Hai's mother passed away?"
"The love you speak of is merely your self-righteous charity."
Lin Yiran glared at Wang Huan and coldly said:
"What are you? Who gave you the right to interfere in our matters?"
"Look at you; your figure is flat and your features are ugly."
"Do you have money? Can you provide Jiang Hai with a good life?"
"You can't give him anything; what right do you have to be with him?"
Wang Huan trembled with anger.
I wrapped my arm around Wang Huan's shoulder and coldly said:
"Lin Yiran, my new girlfriend. Are you satisfied?"
"We have things to attend to, so we'll be leaving now."
With that, I took Wang Huan and left.
But Lin Yiran chased after us.
"Jiang Hai, do you really not love me anymore?"
I looked at her and said word by word, "No."
"Lin Yiran, it's best if we pretend we never knew each other."
Lin Yiran looked at me, her eyes red.
"Jiang Hai, don't say it so ruthlessly."
"The trench coat you're wearing was bought by me."
"You still love me, don't you?"
I lowered my head and then realized that the trench coat I was wearing today was a gift from her.
I sighed, took off the trench coat, and draped it over her shoulders.
"Lin Yiran, goodbye."
"No, it's goodbye forever."
Lin Yiran stood there in a daze.
I embraced Wang Huan and turned to leave.
As I walked out of the hotel door, a cold wind blew.
Wang Huan wrapped her arms around my waist and whispered, "Jiang Hai, I'm sorry."
"I shouldn't have pretended to be your girlfriend."
I smiled lightly, "You weren't pretending."
"From today on, you are my girlfriend."
Wang Huan looked up at me in surprise.
I lowered my head and gently kissed her lips.
Wang Huan was momentarily stunned but soon responded to my kiss.
At that moment, my heart melted.
