In the classroom, Jiang Liuying naturally sat with Qinglan, the two of them sharing a mutual admiration. 0

Jiang Liuying admired Qinglan's meticulous thinking. For girls like them studying advanced and complex Astrophysics, having someone like Qinglan who excelled academically, even surpassing the boys, was truly impressive. Jiang Liuying had always liked to admire those with exceptional intelligence. 0

Especially after becoming friends with Qinglan, she discovered that Qinglan possessed a unique sensitivity and depth of thought typical of women. 0

"No wonder your grades have always been so good. Every one of your reasoning processes is meticulous; you never make any logical errors. Thus, the conclusions and results derived from such reasoning are undoubtedly correct. When we tackle problems, sometimes we tend to take chances, knowing full well that our reasoning has flaws, yet we still foolishly press on, which leads to wrong paths and incorrect results." 0

This was something Jiang Liuying often said to Qinglan as her evaluation. 0

"Life is the same. Therefore, I believe your meticulous attitude towards life will surely not lead you down the wrong path; it will definitely yield good results. So I want to learn from you," Jiang Liuying asserted confidently. 0

"Am I really that great?" Qinglan retorted, then added, "I’ve always felt that no one likes themselves because of their many flaws." 0

As she said this, Qinglan thought about An Shaojie's dislike for her. 0

"You are that great; I like you," Liuying replied. 0

The two then hugged and burst into laughter. 0

Shen Xiaomeng had arrived at the classroom earlier than Qinglan and her friends. She was already surrounded by boys; every boy in the class liked her. As soon as she sat down, a boy would immediately come over and sit beside her. However, the boy sitting next to her changed almost every day. 0

Hu Jiao'er was the type who disliked sitting with other classmates during lessons; she preferred to sit alone in a corner quietly reading. 0

Regardless of how envious the other girls in class were of Zhou Xiaochuan at first or how they later criticized him for his indifference, Hu Jiao'er seemed never to have shown any interest in him, so she had no complaints about him either. 0

During the initial Military Training at the start of school, everyone witnessed Hu Jiao'er's ability to adapt quickly. Her attentiveness and intelligence combined the delicacy typical of girls with the boldness often seen in boys. Consequently, classmates—both boys and girls—became accustomed to viewing her in a different light. 0

Everyone knew that there was often a spark of wisdom shining within her ordinary mind. 0

So, she established her position in the class with her intelligence and wit. She was a class committee member, often directing her classmates to handle class matters and participate in activities. Sometimes, her words were even more effective than those of Qinglan, the class representative, and almost no one ignored her. 0

With her straightforward and carefree personality, Hu Jiao'er became a good buddy to nearly every boy in the class while also serving as a guardian angel to every girl. 0

Thus, in Hu Jiao'er's presence, Zhou Xiaochuan couldn't maintain his aloofness. 0

As soon as Hu Jiao'er walked into the classroom and placed her belongings on a separate desk, she headed straight to Zhou Xiaochuan's desk. 0

Zhou Xiaochuan seemed unaware that someone was standing in front of him, perhaps because he was used to the attention from girls, so he didn't look up. 0

Hu Jiao'er tapped on his desk. "Hey! New student Zhou Xiaochuan, our class is planning an outing this week. You should join us. Since you're new and not familiar with our class situation, you won't be assigned any responsibilities for this activity." 0

It was only after Hu Jiao'er started speaking that Zhou Xiaochuan lifted his head, blinking his deep black eyes at Hu Jiao'er. 0

This chubby girl's tone left no room for doubt! Zhou Xiaochuan thought to himself; there was no hint of gentleness at all. She seemed quite different from other girls, but her crisp voice was still pleasant to hear, carrying a straightforward accent from the northwest. 0

Originally, the outing should have been organized by committee member Xu Wen and representative Qinglan. However, Xu Wen had student council duties over the weekend and fully entrusted Qinglan with the responsibility. Since Qinglan couldn't manage alone, she asked Cultural Committee Member Hu Jiao'er for help. 0

Hearing a girl call him by his name without referring to him as "handsome" left Zhou Xiaochuan feeling uncertain—was it disappointment or surprise? He stared at Hu Jiao'er for a long time, forgetting to respond to her. 0

"What are you staring at? Did you hear me?" Hu Jiao'er tapped his desk again. 0

This time her voice rose several notches, drawing the attention of many classmates towards them, especially the girls who were all focused on their conversation. 0

While other boys in the class might have stood up to confront Hu Jiao'er by now, Zhou Xiaochuan remained fixed on her for a long while before finally saying slowly, "Could you be a bit gentler? Actually, you have pretty nice features. If you were a little softer, maybe you wouldn't always be sitting alone in class; you'd have handsome guys sitting next to you." 0

"Wow!" As soon as Zhou Xiaochuan finished speaking, the classroom erupted with exclamations. 0

"How bold!" The girls began to scream again. 0

"Turns out you're not a bookworm!" a girl added. 0

There were few girls in the Physics Department. Even when several majors and classes mixed together for large lectures, the total number of girls barely reached twenty. There was rarely any fun to be had, but whenever an opportunity arose, they would make a huge commotion. 0

"Who’s a bookworm?" Zhou Xiaochuan suddenly stood up and turned to the girl who called out. 0

"You, of course! You've been here for so long, and all we see is you reading every day. You’ve never even glanced at anyone else. We thought you were a bookworm. There are too many handsome bookworms in our Physics Department, and they lack charm." 0

A group of girls giggled, each chiming in. 0

"Bookworms have no charm?" Zhou Xiaochuan countered. 0

"Our class's bookworms have no charm; I haven't seen any charming bookworms yet," one girl replied with a hearty laugh. 0

"That's not true; there is one charming bookworm," someone immediately corrected. 0

"Who?" came the quick response. 0

"Xu Wen," they almost answered in unison. 0

"Xu Wen is deeply affectionate towards Qinglan; he’s romantic and charming—a bookworm who perfectly combines the qualities of a bookworm with that of a romantic hero! He’s the only one in our class like that!" This was said by Shen Xiaomeng, who adored artistic vibes, her voice delicate and unhurried. Just as Shen Xiaomeng finished speaking, a sound came from the back of the classroom—soft but clear enough for everyone to hear amidst the noise: "Hmph!" This was accompanied by the crisp sound of a book being slammed shut. 0
