“Bone Marrow Transplant, who told you about this?” Qinglan continued to smile, appearing very relaxed.
“Many people in the village say so. I even asked your Zhi Lan En Niang and your Uncle Lin, and they both said it’s possible,” Bai Cuifang turned to Qinglan.
“Oh, that’s true, but your bone marrow won’t work,” Qinglan said while picking up fruit peels and tidying up, not looking at Bai Cuifang but speaking firmly.
“Why?” Bai Cuifang looked at Qinglan in surprise.
“Because a Bone Marrow Transplant requires the bone marrow of a relative, but you are not Beautiful’s relative. It’s very difficult to match if it’s not a relative,” Qinglan raised her head and stared at Bai Cuifang.
“Oh, I see.” Bai Cuifang seemed to understand, her eyes a bit flustered. “But even if it’s hard to match because we’re not relatives, if needed, I would still give it a try. Just because it’s hard doesn’t mean it can’t be done. Maybe mine could match with Beautiful! Those who are closer to her should match more easily than those who are farther away.”
She looked intently at Qinglan.
Qinglan's heart suddenly trembled. Was she saying this intentionally or unintentionally? Was it a test or a confirmation?
Regardless of which, Qinglan felt warmth in her heart. Even his Mother had always been suspicious of Beautiful, but he? He seemed to have never thought about any connection between Beautiful and himself.
Perhaps, deep down, he even believed the rumors that Beautiful was a child born out of an improper relationship with someone else.
Qinglan snorted lightly in her heart.
When did he ever treat her as a serious girl? He often looked down on her and mocked her, saying she could get along with any boy—those with poor grades or those who were unattractive; she welcomed anyone as long as they were nice to her.
From middle school to high school to university, every time she spoke to a boy in class, he would mock her sarcastically.
Whenever a boy was nice to her, he would spread the word everywhere, claiming that just because a boy was nice to a girl didn’t mean he liked her or that she had any charm; it could simply be because the boy thought the girl was easy to get.
Yes, since I am someone who gets along with anyone and someone easy to approach, then my worth or lack thereof has nothing to do with you. You have never come to see Beautiful; that works out perfectly.

Two years later.
The long-awaited Beijing City.
After two years of hard work, Xu Wen finally moved Qinglan's company to Beijing.
A year ago, Qingmei transferred to a hospital in Beijing, and Qinglan stayed in Beijing to take care of Qingmei while managing the company. Xu Wen continued to travel between Beijing and Liu Family Village.
Lin Xi had just arrived in Beijing from Liu Family Village yesterday. Qinglan had already appointed her as the Deputy General Manager of the Pharmaceutical Company in Beijing, with Xu Wen as the General Manager, while she herself held no position at all.
She said, "My main focus is on treating Beautiful. The company has always been managed by you and Xu Wen. You and he can handle all operations; my involvement would only complicate things. Why do I need a title?"
Since Qingmei moved to Beijing, Lin Xi had only seen her twice during her trips to handle business there, as she was genuinely worried about and missed her.
So, after just arriving in Beijing yesterday and not even visiting the company yet, her first task today was to go to the hospital to see Beautiful.
In April, flowers were blooming, grass was lush, and the sun was warm.
Lin Xi was in a good mood.
After all, two years of hard work had paid off.
Not only had she returned to the long-missed Beijing City, but more importantly, she, Qinglan, and Xu Wen could finally settle down. She and Xu Wen could run the company well while Qingmei focused on her treatment, and Qinglan could take care of Qingmei with peace of mind.
More importantly, Qinglan could return to school.
The reason Xu Wen did not insist that Qinglan take a position in the company was that he had other plans for her.
He had already contacted a Private Adult School in Beijing for her so that she could take care of Qingmei while studying and obtain her university diploma again.
Qinglan chose Traditional Chinese Medicine Major.
Once spring passed, summer would arrive. After summer, Qinglan would be able to return to campus, sitting in classrooms as a student again, doing assignments and taking exams.
Not only would Qinglan return to school, but Xu Wen and she also planned to pursue master's degrees.
They said that after so many years of struggle, they must realize their once-held dreams again.
Walking on the familiar streets, Lin Xi felt that it was not just the scenery, buildings, and shops that were familiar; even every person who brushed past her seemed to be the same as those who had passed by her six years ago. Even the air around her, the sunlight above her head, the grass by the roadside, the flowers on the street, and the aroma wafting from a food stall all felt exactly like they did six years ago, so familiar that she thought she had never left Beijing City.
She tilted her head back, inhaling deeply, savoring the scent of sunshine, her steps light and buoyant.
Today she came to see Qingmei without informing her in advance and without telling Qinglan either. She wanted to give her a surprise. So as she stepped into the hospital and walked across the long green lawn, she was still immersed in her own excitement and joy, sometimes looking up proudly and other times lowering her head to chuckle to herself.
Many patients dressed in blue-striped hospital gowns were basking in the sun on the lawn. Some sat quietly on benches alone, while others strolled and chatted with family or friends, or were pushed along slowly in wheelchairs by caregivers or loved ones.
Lin Xi's gaze swept roughly across the lawn. Qinglan also liked to bring Beautiful to sunbathe on this lawn. Once when she came to see Qingmei, she went directly to the ward and ended up missing them after waiting a long time before finally finding them on the lawn. That time almost made her miss her train.
So this time, she learned from experience and decided to check if there were any signs of Qingmei and Qinglan on the lawn first.
Although all the patients on the lawn wore similar hospital gowns, Qingmei was a child with a small figure. There were relatively few children like Qingmei who stayed long-term in the hospital, so her small stature stood out on the lawn. A quick glance would suffice to determine whether Qingmei was there.
Her brisk pace did not slow down. After quickly scanning the lawn and confirming that there was no sign of Qingmei, Lin Xi quickened her steps even more.
Her eagerness to see Qingmei and receive an unexpected surprise was growing impatient.
Just as she rounded a large pillar in a long corridor, Lin Xi's gaze shifted from the lawn back in front of her. Her heel seemed to catch on something. By the time she realized it, she saw a stylishly dressed girl with an elegant posture pushing a wheelchair past her between herself and the pillar. In the wheelchair sat a patient.
