Li Ming's life at the company remained difficult; his efforts were often overlooked, and he faced more bullying and exclusion. Although he longed to fight back, he chose to endure quietly to avoid bringing more trouble upon himself.
One day, as soon as Li Ming arrived at the office, he overheard Xiao Li and Xiao Wang whispering in the hallway.
"I heard that many people have recently awakened their abilities. That kid Li Ming probably thinks he's dreaming, wanting to become an awakener too," Xiao Li sneered.
"Yeah, he doesn't have that kind of luck," Xiao Wang chimed in, and they both laughed heartily.
Upon hearing this, Li Ming felt a wave of frustration but ignored them and quietly walked to his workstation to start working. However, Xiao Li and Xiao Wang had no intention of letting him be.
"Li Ming, here’s today’s report. Please reorganize it; the last one you did was just terrible," Xiao Li tossed a stack of documents onto Li Ming's desk, his tone dripping with disdain.
"Okay, I'll improve it right away," Li Ming replied, suppressing his anger.
"Improve? You better redo it from scratch; otherwise, the boss will blow up again," Xiao Wang mocked from the side.
Li Ming took a deep breath and lowered his head to sort through the documents. He knew that arguing with these people would only land him in deeper trouble.
Zhang Xiaomin walked over and saw Li Ming being bullied, feeling a surge of injustice. She approached him and softly asked, "Li Ming, are they bullying you again?"
Li Ming looked up and gave Zhang Xiaomin a faint smile. "It's nothing; I can handle it."
Zhang Xiaomin frowned slightly, a hint of concern flashing in her eyes. "This isn't a solution; you should tell the boss. You can't let them treat you like this all the time."
"I know, but some things are better solved on my own," Li Ming said softly; he didn't want Zhang Xiaomin to worry about him.
Just then, their supervisor Liu Yi walked over. He glanced at Li Ming and coldly said, "Li Ming, you must get this report done well; don't disappoint me again."
"Yes, manager Liu, I will do my best," Li Ming replied respectfully, feeling a sense of helplessness inside.
After Liu Yi left, Xiao Li and Xiao Wang came over again to mock Li Ming.
"It seems you still haven't caught the boss's attention," Xiao Li said sarcastically.
"Exactly! Li Ming, you better step up your game; don’t let us down again," Xiao Wang added as they both laughed heartily.
Li Ming worked silently, secretly swearing to become stronger. He knew that only strength could help him establish a foothold in this competitive company.
A few days later, the company had an important project that Li Ming was responsible for. This was a great opportunity to showcase his abilities, but Xiao Li and Xiao Wang set up obstacles at every turn, deliberately making things difficult for him.
"Li Ming, you got these materials wrong; they all need to be reorganized," Xiao Li said, pointing at a stack of documents with a tone full of provocation.
"Yeah, with that kind of work attitude, how can you handle such an important project?" Xiao Wang chimed in, fanning the flames.
Li Ming felt a wave of irritation, but he knew this was a test. He decided not to tolerate it any longer and straightened his posture, coldly saying, "I will organize these materials, but you two better not interfere with me again."
Xiao Li and Xiao Wang were taken aback, clearly not expecting Li Ming to respond this way. Xiao Li sneered, "Hmph, who do you think you are? We're just guiding you on how to do your job properly."
"That's right, Li Ming, don't take yourself too seriously," Xiao Wang echoed as the two of them moved closer to Li Ming.
Just then, Zhang Xiaomin appeared again. She walked over to Li Ming and coldly addressed Xiao Li and Xiao Wang, "Isn't what you're doing a bit excessive? Li Ming is just doing his job; do you really need to make things difficult for him?"
Xiao Li and Xiao Wang were intimidated by Zhang Xiaomin's presence and momentarily lost their words, retreating reluctantly.
"Li Ming, are you okay?" Zhang Xiaomin asked with concern.
Li Ming looked at Zhang Xiaomin gratefully and said, "Thank you, Xiaomin. I really owe this to you."
"It's nothing; it's what I should do," Zhang Xiaomin replied with a smile. "You need to keep pushing forward; I believe you can do well on this project."
Li Ming nodded, filled with gratitude and determination. He knew that this project was crucial for his future. He resolved to give it his all and prove his abilities.
In the following days, Li Ming focused intently on his work. He continuously refined his proposal and worked overtime to organize the materials. Zhang Xiaomin often came by to help; together they put in the effort and ultimately completed a satisfactory report.
On the day of the project presentation meeting, Li Ming entered the conference room with the report in hand. He knew this was a great opportunity to showcase his abilities; he had to give it his all.
As the meeting began, Liu Yi looked coldly at Li Ming and said, "Li Ming, you're responsible for this project. If it doesn't go well, you'll face the consequences."
"Yes, manager Liu, I will do my best," Li Ming replied respectfully, though he felt immense pressure inside.
Li Ming began to report his plan. He was clear and articulate, demonstrating his deep understanding of the project. The colleagues in the conference room listened intently, and even Liu Yi's expression became serious.
After the presentation, Liu Yi nodded and said, "Li Ming, this plan is good; there are some innovative points worth acknowledging."
Upon hearing this, Li Ming felt a surge of excitement in his heart. He knew that his efforts had finally been recognized.
However, Xiao Li and Xiao Wang were not satisfied. After the meeting, they approached Liu Yi and whispered, " manager Liu, there are many issues with Li Ming's plan. We believe he is not suitable to be in charge of such an important project."
Liu Yi frowned and replied, "Is that so? I think his plan is quite good."
Seeing this, Xiao Li and Xiao Wang quickly added, " manager Liu, he is only putting on a show; in fact, many details are not well done. We are concerned that this could affect the company's interests."
After listening to them, Liu Yi nodded and said, "I will consider it further. You can go back to your work now."
Xiao Li and Xiao Wang exchanged pleased smiles as they left Liu Yi's office. They knew that as long as Liu Yi had doubts about Li Ming, Li Ming's position would not be secure.
Li Ming was unaware of these underhanded schemes and remained focused on his work. He believed that as long as he worked hard, he would eventually receive the recognition he deserved.
A few days later, the company held a large meeting where Liu Yi announced an important decision: "After our consideration, the responsibility for this project will be jointly taken by Xiao Li and Xiao Wang. We hope they can lead the team to complete this important task."
Upon hearing this, Li Ming felt a wave of disappointment wash over him. He knew that this opportunity had slipped away from him once again.
