"What's wrong?"
"Have you been by her side this entire year?"
Ouyang Su paused slightly, "Yes, but she never accepted me. Her heart has always belonged to you. I was just her attending physician, accompanying her in my capacity as a doctor."
Yan Yi Bai felt his heartbeat nearly stop, and finally gritted his teeth to say, "Thank you."
Ouyang Su chuckled lightly, said nothing more, and left the Yan Family.
On the day of Ruo Yun's funeral, Yan Yi Bai did not show up. That evening, someone spotted him at a bar, sitting alone at the counter drinking.
One glass after another, he didn’t look at anyone, nor did anyone pay attention to him.
"Sir, would you like to try our wine?" A sweet voice came from nearby, and Yan Yi Bai turned to look.
A girl about the same age as Su Ruoyun stood in front of him wearing a maid outfit, smiling brightly.
She held a bottle of wine he had never seen before.
Seeing that Yan Yi Bai remained silent, the girl asked again, "Sir, would you like to try our wine? It's very good, and we have a promotion right now; it's quite cheap."
"Get lost," Yan Yi Bai said coldly, turning to order a strong drink from the bartender.
The bar was too noisy for the girl to hear Yan Yi Bai clearly, so she leaned in and asked, "Excuse me, what did you say, sir?"
Yan Yi Bai shot her a cold glance, causing the girl to feel a bit nervous. "I'm sorry to disturb you," she quickly apologized.
She turned to leave, but her gaze kept drifting back to Yan Yi Bai.
After circling around, she returned to his side.
"Sir, would you like to try our drinks?"
The familiar voice rang out again, and Yan Yi Bai frowned as he looked at the girl. "How many times do I have to say it for you to understand? I told you to get lost."
This time, the girl understood him clearly, yet she didn't leave.
"Is it because of relationship troubles that you're drowning your sorrows in alcohol here?"
Her words caught Yan Yi Bai's attention, and he turned back to examine her closely. "People like you, do you even understand what feelings are?"
The girl suddenly smiled, a hint of helplessness in her expression. "I'm a student from a certain university, here from far away for my studies. You might think I'm just like those shameless girls since I dress this way and shamelessly sell drinks to someone telling me to get lost. Even I find it somewhat degrading, but that doesn't mean I don't understand feelings."
Yan Yi Bai was somewhat surprised, his gaze toward the girl shifting slightly, though his tone still carried disdain.
"You can look down on me, but I can guess that you are feeling down because of matters of the heart. I have someone I like too, but due to my family situation, I can't be with him. Yesterday, he announced that he became the boyfriend of another girl."
The seat next to her was empty, and the girl sat down.
Yan Yi Bai thought this was her way of promoting herself; he had seen such tactics many times before.
He ignored her and continued to drink his alcohol.
However, the girl spoke as if to herself, completely unconcerned about how Yan Yi Bai felt.
"My mother is in the hospital. Although it's not a major surgery, it's a huge pressure for a family like mine. My father passed away a long time ago, and my mother raised me and supported my college education. Now that she needs me, even if it means putting aside my pride, I have to work hard to earn money for her surgery."
