The cute pen holder was left on the dining table.
Su Xin'er felt a bit down, but for her, Yan Yi Bai agreeing to go out for a meal together was already a significant improvement.
In the past five years, such opportunities had been few and far between.
It was as if Su Xin'er had received encouragement; the next day, she went straight to Yan Yi Bai's company to find him.
When she walked into Yan Yi Bai's office, she jumped in front of him with a beaming smile, "Yi Bai."
Yan Yi Bai's expression was calm. "Why are you here again? Is there something you need?"
"You left the pen holder on the table yesterday, so I brought it to you today."
Yan Yi Bai's brow twitched slightly; he had intentionally left it behind. Didn't she understand?
Watching Su Xin'er place the pen holder in the most prominent spot on his desk, he didn't react at all, though his previously calm expression darkened a bit.
"Don't come to the company so casually in the future."
After saying a few cold words, Yan Yi Bai resumed his work.
"Has it really been so long since Baidou? Haven't you considered your future at all?"
After sitting down, Su Xin'er said earnestly.
Yan Yi Bai looked up at her, somewhat confused. "What do you mean?"
"My sister has been gone for five years. In these five years, haven't you thought about finding someone to be with?"
Yan Yi Bai's gaze darkened a bit more. "Did you come here just to talk to me about this?"
"I know I was wrong about what happened back then, and I also know it was wrong to say that about my sister. I realize my mistakes. Can you forgive me? My sister is no longer here, and you still don't plan to accept me?"
Yan Yi Bai let out a light laugh, seemingly without any intention of forgiving her.
His attitude had only softened slightly.
Su Xin'er wanted to say more, but Yan Yi Bai interrupted her. "If there's nothing else, please leave. I need to work."
Su Xin'er had initially thought that after having lunch with Yan Yi Bai yesterday, he had developed feelings for her and that she had finally waited for the day his heart would open up. However, she didn't expect his attitude to remain unchanged.
Feeling somewhat unwilling, Su Xin'er found that no matter what she said, Yan Yi Bai wouldn't look at her again. Frustrated, she stormed out of Yan Yi Bai's office and happened to run into the secretary who was coming in to deliver documents.
Su Xin'er grabbed the secretary and asked, "Is there something going on with President Yan lately?"
The secretary paused for a moment, recognizing Su Xin'er and knowing her identity, so she spoke frankly, "There's nothing much going on, just busy with work as usual."
"What I meant was in terms of relationships. Has he been seen with any strange women?"
After Su Xin'er's reminder, the secretary seemed to recall something.
"Right, the president had someone buy Daffodils before, and I also saw him looking at magazines about diamond rings. Occasionally, I would see him texting someone with a silly smile; he must be pursuing someone."
Su Xin'er furrowed her brows instantly, realizing that Yan Yi Bai actually liked someone else, and that person was not her.
When she returned home, she felt uncomfortable. How could this be? She had only been abroad for a few days, and Yan Yi Bai had already developed feelings for someone else?
Who could that person be? What qualifications did they have to compete with her for a man?
Su Xin'er took out her phone, wanting to investigate who Yan Yi Bai was dating, but suddenly hesitated.
Perhaps it would be better if she handled it personally. She wanted to see just how capable that person was.
