A few seconds later, Laya was unharmed.
Liendel had not made a move.
Aivino couldn't tell if he felt relieved or tense, but the next moment caused his expression to change dramatically.
At the moment Liendel's hand fiercely kicked towards Laya, she seemed to sense a familiar surge of Psychic Power, once again sweeping through their mental sea.
Aivino panicked and shouted, "Stop! Liendel's Psychic Power has gone berserk. Connecting mentally at this time won't help; it could provoke him further and backfire on us."
But Laya did not understand this. Her dark eyes were fixed intently on Liendel as she concentrated on channeling her Psychic Power into his Brain Region.
Her Psychic Power detected countless black threads. Tentatively, she used her Psychic Power to touch those black lines and discovered the man's pitiful mental source beneath them.
Every person's Brain Region contains a mental source, the birthplace of Psychic Power. If damaged, it could lead to mild Brain Region impairment or severe brain death.
Now, Liendel's mental source was being strangled by the black threads, leaving him barely hanging on.
Laya couldn't bear to see him in such a pitiful state under oppression. Carefully, she entwined those black threads and used her Psychic Power to pull some of them away, slowly extracting them from Liendel's Brain Region.
The moment she withdrew, Liendel staggered back a few steps. His pupils returned to their pure golden color, and the sharp pain in his mind subsided significantly.
He stared in shock at Laya; the Queen was actually soothing his raging Psychic Power.
"Does the Bug Queen still have such abilities?"
Laya, who had just accomplished this incredible miracle, yawned as her eyelids began to grow heavy once more.
In reality, Laya was still in her juvenile stage, struggling to control her physiological needs. So, once she felt sleepy, she could only succumb to sleep without resistance.
Just before losing consciousness, she seemed to sense a cold embrace. The familiar feeling made her nuzzle against it affectionately, allowing herself to drift into a peaceful slumber.
At that moment, Liendel was half-squatting as he dragged half of Queen's body. His expression had darkened considerably.
When he saw Laya about to collapse just moments ago, Liendel's instincts had kicked in faster than his thoughts. It was only now that he realized he was actually protecting the Queen.
Aivino approached at that moment and said, "It's truly remarkable. If the Queen can alleviate Psychic Power Mania, then we must keep her. Due to the Former Queen's dark reign, many High-level Insectoids have been plagued by Mania. Liendel is among the most severely affected; he experiences episodes roughly every few days. Without the Queen, it's hard to say how much longer he can hold on."
"Alright, you take the Queen back to the Starship for now. I need to handle some matters and will contact Home Planet later to discuss how to deal with the Queen."
Aivino wore an enigmatic smile as he headed toward the monitoring room of the Auction House, intending to erase all traces of the Queen's appearance here.
The Silver-Haired Zerg looked down at the Queen's delicate feet, which were speckled with red.
These were from when she had hurriedly approached him earlier and accidentally stepped on debris, causing her wounds to bleed.
He hesitated for two seconds but ultimately decided to carefully lift Laya into his arms. Even after they had established contact with Zerg Home Planet, Laya remained peacefully asleep.
A virtual projection of the Council Hall appeared before Liendel and Aivino, with Supreme Commander Yaren already seated in the main position.
"We are aware of the Queen's situation. In order to minimize her influence on the Zerg and to avoid repeating past mistakes, we must never allow her to escape our control, nor should she encounter too many Zerg. Therefore, I propose that we permanently deny the Queen access to any areas where the Zerg operate, and that at least one High-level Insectoid be assigned to guard her at all times."
The cold commander casually determined Laya's future, and everyone expressed their agreement.
Only Liendel lowered his head in silence, a vision flashing through his mind of the girl stepping on shards, disregarding her pain as she opened her arms toward them. A flicker of struggle crossed his eyes before he returned to a state of disgust. "I don't care."
