John stood in front of the church door, which was blocked by collapsed stones and broken wooden beams, and whistled a long tune. "Hmm hmm hmm hmm... subsidence."
Dust and debris covered the hall of this ancient church. The once magnificent stained glass windows were now shattered, with only a few faded colors remaining on the frames. The cross in front of the altar leaned unsteadily, as if it could collapse at any moment.
Taktron's eyes flashed with curiosity as he quickly scanned the entire hall. "Wait, there might be a basement here," he pointed to an irregular crack in the floor, with the stones near the crack arranged too neatly, showing signs of human intervention.
Alixia had a keener eye and noticed behind the priest's pulpit, a cabinet adorned with various sacred symbols. Traces near the floor indicated that this cabinet was frequently moved.
"Come take a look at this." Alixia walked over lightly and pushed open the wooden cabinet. To everyone's surprise, the cabinet slid open easily, revealing a hidden door.
"It seems that there is not only a basement here, but also some secrets unknown to the public," Alixia commented coldly.
Karenmu then walked over, took out a small bottle of holy oil, lightly sprinkled it on the edge of the wooden cabinet and the hidden door, and began to chant a mysterious incantation known only to the followers of the Machine God in a low voice.
"In the name of the Omnissiah, let us find the truth and drive out the evil from this place," Karenmu said, and the entire hall seemed to tremble at her words.
John looked around at the people and felt a new determination filling his heart. He took out his gun and pointed it into the dark depths of the basement, "Alright, let's see what's hidden down there."
The four of them nervously descended the stone steps, each tightly gripping their weapons. As they ventured deeper into this unknown underground space, they all knew that whatever they would discover next, they had prepared themselves mentally. With each step, the surrounding stone walls felt increasingly oppressive, as if this ancient church's basement not only concealed material secrets but also harbored some unseen power.
In this way, they entered into a deeper unknown, with the four of them closely following John's lead, slowly descending along the narrow spiral staircase. The damp air was mixed with an unpleasant odor, causing people to involuntarily furrow their brows.
"Darn it, what kind of place is this?" John grumbled discontentedly, tightly gripping his weapon.
Alixia glanced at him and said, "To eliminate chaos, one must enter its heart."
"The Supreme Being once said, the path of the brave is often not easy," Taktron added.
Karenmu remained silent, his gaze sharp as if to cut all impurities in front of him into pieces.
Finally, they arrived at the basement. Due to days of power outage, it had become pitch black. Several of them turned on the lights on their weapons, dispelling the darkness around them one by one.
At that moment, they noticed a huge ritual totem in the center of the basement. The totem emitted a sinister atmosphere, and chaotic energy surged from it.
"This is... a symbol of filth," Karenmu said in a cold tone, her face filled with disgust. "I must destroy it immediately."
He quickly walked to the totem of the ceremony and raised the huge hammer in his hand. This was no ordinary weapon; it had been blessed with holy water by the sacred Mechanicus.
"For the Omnissiah!" Karenmu shouted, fiercely smashing the hammer into the ground.
With a loud noise, the ceremonial totem shattered, and the chaotic energy seemed to be suppressed. The totem was shattered into countless pieces, and the ominous atmosphere that had pervaded the air seemed to dissipate somewhat. However, the chaotic energy did not completely disperse; instead, it seemed to be provoked and began to agitate more intensely in the space.
"Now you've angered it," John said, frowning.
"If we don't eliminate this symbol, it will continue to pollute this world," Karenmu responded without any regret.
Alixia's tense face showed a slight change as she raised the star dart gun in her hand and swept it towards the darkness ahead. A beam of light shot out, illuminating a narrow passage.
"This won't do, I feel the chaotic energy is gathering. We must find the source in order to completely cut off its power supply," said Alixia solemnly.
Taktron quickly pulled out a small scanner and began analyzing the energy fluctuations around. "According to this reading, the energy source should be at the end of this passage."
"What are we waiting for? Let's go!" John shouted, leading everyone forward along the passage.
In the distance, something seemed to be moving in the darkness, and a deep roar sent chills down everyone's spines.
"We need to be prepared for battle. There is not only chaotic energy here, but also other things." Karenmu tightly grips a giant hammer, with a fierce determination in her eyes.
"Chaos always attracts various evils and corruptions, which is exactly why we must eliminate it." Alixia says coldly.
Finally, they arrived at a spacious underground hall, with a structure resembling an altar in the center, on which a crystal shimmering with an evil purple light was placed.
"That's it, the source of chaos," Taktron pointed to the crystal.
"I'll destroy it," John said, raising his gun and heading towards the altar.
"Wait!" Alixia suddenly shouted, "This crystal might have traps or countermeasures. I suggest letting me use my psychic sense first."
John stopped and looked at Alixia, finally nodded.
Alixia closed her eyes and began to focus her psychic energy. A faint blue light appeared around her body, and the crystal seemed to react in some way, becoming more intense with a purple light.
"Go away!" She suddenly opened her eyes and shouted.
