I have had issues with Lu Ming, but no matter what, I don't want to involve Lu Shuang. Lu Shuang is still a child; adult matters shouldn't affect her. 0

Miao Miao and I quickly rushed to Lu Ming's house. After changing our shoes at the entrance, we walked a couple of steps into the living room and saw Lu Shuang sitting on the sofa watching TV. I dashed over and hugged her. 0

"Shuangshuang, are you okay, Shuangshuang?" Holding Lu Shuang in my arms, my anxious heart gradually settled. What would happen if something really happened to such a well-behaved child? 0

"Shuangshuang, where's Dad? Where is Dad?" Miao Miao, sitting next to me, asked after a while. 0

"Dad is in the study," Lu Shuang answered honestly. 0

Hearing Lu Shuang's words made me furious. She had almost gone missing, and here Lu Ming was, taking her back only to retreat to his study again. Was he really not afraid of such an incident happening again? Especially after what Lu Shuang had been through; how much psychological trauma must she be carrying? 0

After comforting Lu Shuang for a moment, I released her and stormed upstairs. 0

Miao Miao tried to persuade me along the way, but I couldn't hear any of it. When I reached the study door, I pushed it open without knocking and overheard Lu Ming talking to someone. 0

"It's fine, yeah, no need to in the future, uh." 0

Looking around the study, there was no one else present. Lu Ming had just hung up the phone and turned to look at me, seemingly unfazed by my arrival. 0

Ignoring Miao Miao's attempts to stop me, I let my anger boil over and shouted, "How can you be a father like this? Do you know how low the chances are of finding a child as young as Lu Shuang after she goes missing? Is it that difficult for you to hire an experienced nanny? Have you thought about your own child beyond your work?" 0

He could be meticulous and precise in his job but made countless mistakes when it came to caring for his child. While it's understandable that Lu Ming prioritizes his work, he shouldn't treat Lu Shuang this way. 0

"It was just an accident; it's already in the past." 0

Lu Ming's nonchalant response only fueled my anger further. "An accident? You describe Lu Shuang's experience of going missing as an accident? Have you considered the impact it has on her? She's still so young; her mind isn't fully developed. How can she trust you after this?" 0

"Little Shuang, it's nothing." Lu Ming quietly assessed me and said, "I think the one with a problem is you." 0

My emotions were too agitated, but hearing Lu Ming's words made me feel even worse. I cursed a couple of times, and after I finished speaking, I saw Lu Ming make a phone call to someone. 0

"And how do you know about the matters in your husband's company? You can't be that familiar with his boss to know everything, can you? Since you know the whole situation, you must know who reported it, right?" My words were somewhat aggressive, but I was desperate to find out who the informant was behind this. 0

If I guessed correctly, besides Lu Ming, who else could it be? Even if he denied it, I wouldn't think of anyone else. 0

"Yes, it was me." Lu Ming admitted openly without hesitation. 0

It was indeed him! Just as I expected, there was no one else but Lu Ming. 0

I didn't anticipate that he would admit it so readily; it saved me from having to probe further. Suddenly feeling a sense of disparity, I didn't respond immediately. Lu Ming took the opportunity to elaborate. 0

"I merely stated the facts of what happened. The cause and process were not up to me, so your husband's infidelity is solely related to his choices." 0

"I know!" I retorted angrily. "This is all my business; you don't need to worry about it. I know how I should think." 0

The implication of his words seemed to suggest that he was afraid I would direct all my anger at him. I didn't mind this self-preserving attitude; what bothered me was Lu Ming's certainty that I would blame him. 0

"Is that so?" His tone rose slightly, and his voice took on a teasing quality. "From my perspective, you've been making excuses for yourself. Why are you angry? Can't find the reason?" 0

I clenched my fists tightly, feeling frustrated. Lu Ming always had this superior demeanor, relentlessly criticizing me with his piercing attitude. 0

"You should handle your own issues first. What qualifications do you have to criticize me when you can't even take care of your child? Your marriage is also in ruins. I've heard you have Depression because of your Ex-Wife. Are you afraid I'll choose self-harm like you? Let me tell you, I'm not as weak as you!" 0

The atmosphere suddenly became tense. Lu Ming's pupils dilated, his expression stiffened, and he fell silent. 0

Miao Miao, who had been silent behind me, tugged at my sleeve, bringing me back from my anger. I recalled that every word I had said was maliciously aimed at exposing his wounds, and upon reflection, it felt quite excessive. 0

Without a doubt, Lu Ming eventually coldly "invited" both Miao Miao and me out of the study. 0

Standing at the door, Miao Miao and I exchanged glances. She patted my arm and sighed, "Let's go." 0

I returned to the living room to keep Lu Shuang company. As we went downstairs, Miao Miao kept advising me not to be so agitated. Generally speaking, Lu Ming was someone who knew how to maintain boundaries. Besides, Lu Shuang was his daughter; he surely knew how to take care of her. 0

That made sense, but for some reason, my anger towards Lu Ming was greater than I had anticipated. If I were to pinpoint what Lu Ming had done to make me dislike him, it would only be that one incident where he restricted my freedom. Perhaps ever since then, I began to harbor significant resentment towards him. 0

Every time I saw him, I wanted to curse him out. Just as Miao Miao said, I had lost my usual gentleness and transformed into a different person in front of Lu Ming. 0

I spent less than half an hour with Lu Shuang when someone suddenly walked in through the door. Upon closer inspection, it was Gu Xiang, whom I hadn't seen in a long time. Gu Xiang smiled and waved at me, "Long time no see, Zhuang Jun." 0

It seemed Gu Xiang had been called over by Lu Ming. He naturally walked towards us while Lu Shuang in my arms called out to Gu Xiang, "Uncle Gu Xiang." 0

"Good girl." Gu Xiang sat down beside me and started teasing Lu Shuang, making her giggle. Seeing that Lu Shuang seemed to really like him, I released her into his hands and took Miao Miao's arm to leave. However, Gu Xiang stopped me. 0

"Zhuang Jun, why don't you stay a little longer? It's been so long since we last met; let's chat for a bit." 0

There was no denying that Gu Xiang's conversational skills were quite adept; he didn't provoke any resistance within me. However, his identity was still a taboo topic for me, so I remained silent. 0

Gu Xiang persisted but didn't force the issue. He gradually used Lu Shuang as a way to coax me into staying. Eventually, I softened and continued sitting on the sofa while Miao Miao accompanied me and urged me to relax. 0

It seemed that Miao Miao also thought it would be good for me to chat more with Gu Xiang. 0

Well then, let's see how the conversation goes. 0

After leaving Lu Ming's house, Miao Miao looked at me several times with concern. Once she confirmed I was okay, she hesitantly said, "Zhuang Jun, are you alright now?" 0

"Yeah, I'm fine." 0

Gu Xiang suggested we talk privately, and I agreed. During that time, we only discussed one person: Lu Ming. 0

Gu Xiang said that my inexplicable anger towards Lu Ming stemmed from my inner confidence. However, I found Gu Xiang's words extremely ridiculous; when facing Lu Ming, where did I find any confidence? I could only avoid him. 0

He repeatedly urged me to control my emotions and not let them fluctuate too much. He advised me to engage in meaningful activities to enrich my life, but my life was filled with nothing but thoughts of divorce. Wang Xu refused to agree to the divorce, even if I offered him everything. 0

"Don't feel too troubled; think of something positive. If Lu Ming spoke up so quickly, there must be a reason," Miao Miao's voice grew softer until it was barely audible. 0

"What do you mean…" 0

"I suspect this might be Lu Ming's way of showing his stance. For instance, telling you that he can easily handle this matter. Even the issue with Wang Xu could be exposed. If Wang Xu is so against the divorce, if Lu Ming is willing to help, wouldn't that provide another solution?" 0

I chuckled dryly, "So you're saying that Lu Ming exposing Wang Xu's mess to get him fired is his way of proving he has such great capability?" 0

"Well, not exactly like that. He might just hope you could soften your stance and say some good words. If Lu Ming helps out, it would definitely make things easier. Right now, Wang Xu feels confident; once someone takes that confidence away from him, he won't have much to say." 0

Miao Miao made a valid point, but I instinctively felt repulsed by Lu Ming. Asking him for help seemed impossible. 0

After checking on Shuangshuang and confirming she was okay, I asked Miao Miao again. She told me to relax; Lu Ming had already arranged for several caregivers to look after Lu Shuang together, so there shouldn't be any issues. However, whenever Lu Shuang asked about me, Lu Ming had blocked those questions. 0

When I returned home, my mom suddenly came over from the living room. Without waiting for me to change my shoes, she grabbed my arm and said, "What did you say to Wang Xu? Why is he here again?" 0

I was startled and quickly changed my shoes. Looking around, I didn't see Wang Xu anywhere. My mom explained as I moved, "He got kicked out by your dad again; it's been causing your dad some stress and he's lying in bed now." 0

I was anxious: "How is Dad? Did he get into a fight with Wang Xu?" 0

"No, no, it's just that your dad said he was feeling a bit unwell and was congested. He's lying in bed sleeping now. Just a while ago, Wang Xu came over and directly said he wanted to take our family out for a trip. Can you believe it? Your dad just wanted to get rid of Wang Xu, but Wang Xu suddenly knelt down in front of him, crying and begging us to forgive him and let him explain. Your dad was scolding him, but he wouldn't listen or leave. The neighbors heard it all; it was so embarrassing." 0

Both my parents care about their reputation. If Wang Xu really caused such a scene, it would definitely upset my dad. Thinking about this made me angry. Wang Xu had deceived me by saying he resigned for my sake, and now I saw through him. He came to our house to put on a sob story; I truly hated him. 0

"So what about now? How is my dad? Is he okay?" 0

Although my dad had always been healthy, age brings its own issues, and with his occupational disease, I felt even more frustrated thinking about how Wang Xu had upset him. 0

"Don't worry, he's asleep now. Come sit down; I need to ask you something." 0

I was still worried, but seeing my mom's nonchalant attitude eased me a bit. After sitting next to her, I listened as she asked. 0

"Are you and Wang Xu planning to reconcile?" 0
