The door was ajar, and Rao Jie still felt the urge to knock. However, as she raised her head, she found two pairs of eyes staring at her intently, startling her.
Seeing the bewildered expression on Rao Jie’s face made it clear that she hadn’t heard anything.
Ye Ming let out a sigh of relief; he couldn’t let anything ruin his friend’s good fortune. At that moment, his chair was kicked hard again, and Wu Rong said, “Don’t you have something to do? Aren’t you in a hurry?”
Ye Ming turned around and saw Wu Rong wearing an expression that nearly screamed “get lost.”
Ye Ming’s lips twitched as he stood up and said, “Alright, alright, I’ll leave.” He then approached the door to greet Rao Jie.
After Ye Ming left, only the two of them remained in the office.
Wu Rong looked up at Rao Jie by the door and said, “Come in.”
Only then did Rao Jie step inside. However, once she entered, she just stood there in a daze.
Wu Rong remained silent as well. He had expected that, according to Ye Ming's words, Rao Jie would be furious and complain about him. Strangely enough, she didn’t say anything; she just stared at him.
Wu Rong was unsure what Rao Jie was thinking. He was somewhat slow on this front and felt a bit anxious. Could it be that she really was angry like Ye Ming said?
Clearing his throat to regain composure, Wu Rong calmly asked, “What’s wrong? Do you have something to say to me?”
He generously gave Rao Jie the opportunity to speak; surely that would suffice!
To Wu Rong’s surprise, Rao Jie simply walked over and handed him her phone. “I’ve deleted the photos. I didn’t know you hated having your picture taken so much. But before I deleted them, I sent them to Wu Xin. She’s your sister; if you’re really upset about it, go talk to her. It has nothing to do with me anymore.”
Wu Rong took Rao Jie’s phone in shock, feeling a mix of emotions rise within him. He looked up and asked, “Don’t you have anything else to say?” Wasn’t she angry at all?
How could Rao Jie not be angry? She had just gone through a wave of emotions but had already calmed down. After all, she knew she was at fault first; complaining about Wu Rong's later actions wouldn’t change anything.
Rao Jie was quite adept at self-soothing. Moreover… she increasingly felt that Wu Rong was lowering her tolerance threshold.
She found herself becoming more and more tolerant of Wu Rong's antics. Perhaps no matter how outrageous his behavior was, she could rationalize it by thinking that this was just who he was—someone who couldn’t be judged by ordinary standards!
Of course, Rao Jie had no idea how much trouble this unconditional tolerance for Wu Rong's excessive behavior would bring her in the future.
Habits could be quite terrifying.
In response to Wu Rong’s question, Rao Jie first shook her head and then thought for a moment before saying, “If someone bothers you in the future, it’s best not to handle it this way. If you encounter someone tough enough, they might even sue you. You’re getting too close…”
Wu Rong felt a tightness in his chest and said, "I wouldn't do that to anyone else!"
Rao Jie, hearing this, looked dejected. Did Wu Rong specifically target her to bully? Did she have a face that just invited bullying?
Rao Jie forced a smile, while Wu Rong felt a bit frustrated. He stood up and said, "Let's go home."
Rao Jie just nodded but suddenly remembered what her senior had told her. She wanted to call out to Wu Rong, but then recalled how he had gotten angry before when she sought another tutor… After some thought, she decided it was best not to challenge this immature big boy's nerves.
"I... my classmate said they have some materials for me. I need to go pick them up. Could you wait for me in the parking lot?"
