Skylarix's eyes flashed with a cunning light, and a wicked smile curled his lips. "Do you think only we have been summoned... the power of the rat people is much stronger than you humans. We will use endless forces to break this world, devour this universe, and may glory to the great horn..." Before he could finish his words, a gunshot shattered the dim air of the underground city. Skylarix's head exploded in an instant, and brain matter and blood scattered.
John lowered the gun and said calmly, "I've had enough of the nonsense today."
However, even though Sklarex is already dead, his final words still made everyone feel uneasy. If the rat people's empire is really as powerful as he said, and they have already placed their bases under multiple cities, then the situation could be serious.
"Taktron quickly said, "Hurry up and prepare to detonate the energy tank. I need to prepare for the subspace transfer first." He explained that it would take about three minutes to stabilize the transfer process.
John glanced at the lifeless body of Sklarex on the ground, then looked at the chaotic energy-filled necklace in his hand, and finally glanced at Karenmu and Alixia.
"Karenmu, Alixia, protect Taktron. I will go set up the explosives," John ordered.
Karenmu tightly grasped his giant hammer, while Alixia also aimed her star dart gun in the direction where enemies might appear. Both of them understood that the next three minutes would be a matter of life and death. Meanwhile, John hurried towards the location where the explosives needed to be installed. He knew that once the energy core was detonated, the underground city and the lurking evil within it would be destroyed together.
However, Sklarex's final words lingered in their minds, making everything even more tense and dangerous. At this moment, they all understood that even if they successfully eliminated this source of chaos, the war might be far from over.
John dodged the strange rocks and twisted metal structures of the underground city while focusing on installing a bomb on the energy tank. The energy tank emitted a green light and a nauseating stench, clearly a manifestation of chaotic energy. His fingers quickly tapped the control panel of the bomb, setting a ten-minute countdown.
"The countdown begins," John muttered quietly, then grabbed his weapon, ready to return to the battlefield.
At the same time, Taktron is busy fending off the attacks of the rat soldiers. They greedily eye the necklace of Skrall Rex in his hand, seeming to believe that obtaining it would make them the next rat warlord.
"Only ninety seconds left, hold on a little longer!" Taktron shouts, attempting to urgently call for reinforcements with his high-tech device.
Karenmu held his sacred warhammer, chanting the scriptures of the Mechanicus while sweeping away the madness surging towards Taktron one by one. With each swing of the warhammer, chaotic energy surged forth accompanied by the agonizing cries of the rat-men.
Alixia's star javelin gun also played a significant role at this moment, precise shots causing several rat soldiers to fall one by one. Her nimble movements and deadly shooting skills demonstrated the extraordinary combat prowess of the Eldar.
At that moment, John finally arrived by Taktron's side. He quickly pulled out his gun and fired precise shots one after another, helping Taktron repel the continuing surge of rat people.
"Forget it, you chaotic lackeys, today is your last day," John said with a sneer, while also praying in his heart, hoping they could safely evacuate before the bomb exploded. He knew that every second that followed was extremely critical.
As Taktron shouted the countdown, John and Karenmu realized the impending crucial moment. "Fifteen seconds left! Get close to me, prepare to enter subspace!" Taktron's voice cut through the remaining battlefield noise.
Alixia ceased her relentless attacks, retracting her star dart gun as a glint of inspiration flashed in her eyes. Her hands traced mysterious symbols in the air, and a transparent spiritual energy shield began to form around the main group.
"Ten seconds!" Taktron began the final countdown.
John quickly knocked down the last approaching rat-man and ran to Taktron's side. Karenmu wielded his massive warhammer and forcefully sent another wave of rat-men flying, about to break through the shield.
"Five, four, three..." Taktron's voice made everyone tense up.
Alixia's psychic shield became brighter and brighter, like a shining planet, Karenmu and John getting closer to Taktron.
"Two, one..."
As the last number was called out, a huge burst of energy erupted, as if to devour everything, and illuminated the entire underground city. In that instant, the Deathwing Mercenary Corps seemed to be sucked into a vortex of light.
Following that, everything turned dark and quiet. They had entered subspace, far away from the deadly battle beneath the surface of the Yakannix Planet.
John clenched his fists, knowing that the war was far from over. However, at least in that moment, they had successfully avoided a catastrophic disaster. This time, they were able to regroup and continue their mission to fight against the chaos.
"Good job, everyone," John said briefly, then turned to Taktron, "Are you ready with the coordinates for the subspace? We can't linger here for too long."
Taktron nodded and began operating his high-tech equipment, preparing to teleport the entire team to the next destination. Behind them, the sealed chaotic rift was gradually stabilizing, but no one knew what consequences it would bring. At least for now, they had gained precious time and a glimmer of hope.
