John's words fell, and Karenmu, Alixia, and Taktron looked at each other with expressions of doubt and confusion on their faces. Alixia was the first to break the silence, her eyebrows slightly furrowed, clearly puzzled by John's words.
"John, are you okay?" Alixia asked with concern in her tone. "You just recovered from the influence of the interdimensional space, the chaos's impact may not fade so quickly. And you even fainted at that time."
John heard these words and a hint of helplessness appeared on his face. "I know what you are worried about, but I really am fine now," John said. "And, this is what Shadow asked us to do. According to him, he seems to hold some important role within the empire. If we don't do as he says, there might be danger."
Karenmu and Taktron also wore pensive expressions. Taktron was the first to speak, "Shadow has always been a mysterious figure, and we know very little about him. But if he really is an important figure in the empire, then we do need to be careful."
"However," Karenmu interjected, "why do we need to inform the governor of Yakhanix's star? We are just mercenaries, why should we get involved in this political struggle?"
"Because," John said solemnly, "if Skaven's threat is really as great as the Shadow of Mystery said, this is not just our mission, it concerns the safety of the entire planet. If we can stop them at the beginning, perhaps we can prevent a greater disaster."
Three people fell silent for a moment, and finally Alixia nodded gently in agreement. "Alright, John, we believe you," she said. "But we have to be careful, the influence of chaos is not to be underestimated."
At this point, Taktron spoke up: "But how are we going to contact Governor Yakhanix? You can't possibly have his contact information, can you?" When he raised this question, John was clearly stumped. He scratched his head lightly, looking somewhat embarrassed, but quickly became determined. "It seems we can only take direct action. Let's break into the Governor's Mansion on Yakhanix directly!"
As soon as this bold proposal was made, the atmosphere on the bridge became somewhat tense. Karenmu and Taktron looked at each other, their eyes filled with doubt and uncertainty. This direct confrontation with the governor undoubtedly carries risks and may lead to unpredictable consequences.
However, in this silent atmosphere, Alixia suddenly burst into laughter. Her laughter was clear and full of vitality, breaking the tense atmosphere on the bridge. "Hahaha, John, your idea is crazy, but I love it!" she said, with a hint of mischief and excitement in her smile.
Karenmu was also infected, showing a faint smile, "It is indeed our style, direct and decisive."
Taktron appeared hesitant at first, but ultimately nodded, "Well, if this is the only way, then let's give it a try. After all, Jack's judgment has never let us down."
John heard the support of his teammates and felt a warm feeling in his heart. He took a deep breath and said, "So it's decided. We will reach the Governor's Mansion as quickly as possible and then go directly to the governor. Hopefully, we can remind them of the threat of the Skaven in time."
The four of them sat around a high-tech table. Taktron had a serious look on his face as he reached out to press the control panel on the table, instantly projecting the latest news information onto the tabletop.
On the news screen, a news anchor's voice reports the recent series of events involving Yakhanix and Datharas with tension and seriousness. The screen shows a series of unsettling on-site photos and videos: one after another, the ground has collapsed, large sections of roads and buildings have sunk into the ground, forming huge sinkholes, with panicked citizens gathered around.
The news anchor continues to report, "These sudden ground collapse events have led to dozens of people missing and hundreds injured. Government departments are urgently investigating the causes of these events and urging citizens to remain calm."
The scene changes, showing a group of people handcuffed with strange symbols painted on their faces, being taken away by the police. The news anchor then says, "At the same time, there have been multiple instances of cult activities in the streets of Datharas city. These cultists are preaching theories about the end of the world, attempting to spread panic among the public. They have been arrested by the authorities and are undergoing further investigation."
The scene ends with an expert's analysis, stating, "These ground subsidence events may be related to illegal mining activities, but other possibilities cannot be ruled out."
Four people quietly watched these news reports, and the atmosphere became even more solemn. John furrowed his brow, pondering the possible larger conspiracy behind this. "These cult activities... may not be coincidental," John said in a low voice.
Taktron gazed solemnly at the news footage, and after a moment of contemplation, slowly spoke: "These are the pieces of information I've gathered in the past few days. From these events, it seems that our attack on the underground city has triggered a larger-scale operation by the Skaven. The frequent occurrences of subsidence are highly likely to be a direct result of their underground activities."
His gaze shifted to the cultists mentioned in the report. "As for these cultists, their appearance is no coincidence. They seem to have some knowledge of Skaven's plan, and may even be assisting them in secret. While these cult activities may seem to only incite panic on the surface, there may be a deeper conspiracy hidden behind them."
