As night fell, an unusual cold wind quietly blew through a corner of the city, heralding an impending supernatural event. Lin Xiaoxiao and Gu sha received a report that a frequent occurrence of supernatural phenomena in an old apartment building had residents worried.
"Why is the location of this mission always so eerie?" Lin Xiaoxiao complained as she walked towards the old apartment building.
Gu sha Stay calm and respond: "The soul is drawn to dark places, it's normal. The key is to solve the problem."
Arriving at the entrance of the apartment, the two immediately felt an eerie atmosphere. The lights in the apartment flickered irregularly, hinting at an inner unrest.
"The atmosphere here is really nice, totally fitting for tonight's theme," Lin Xiaoxiao half-jokingly remarked.
Gu sha didn't respond, but took out his inspiration detector to start investigating. Soon, the readings on the detector began to soar, indicating that they were getting closer to the target.
"It looks like we've found the target," Gu sha pointed to the data on the detector screen and signaled to Lin Xiaoxiao.
As the two walked along the corridor, with each step, the air around them seemed to grow colder. Suddenly, a door silently opened, and a gust of cold wind blew out from inside.
"We'll go in and take a look." Gu sha took the lead into the room.
The interior of the room was dark and damp, old furniture covered in dust, and a sinister atmosphere pervaded the air. Lin Xiaoxiao followed closely behind Gu sha, unconsciously gripping the seal in her hand.
Suddenly, a blurry figure flashed in front of them. "Lin Xiaoxiao" exclaimed, "Gu sha, did you see that?!"
"Gu sha" nodded, "I saw it, ready to take action."
A figure moved quickly in the room, seemingly searching for something. Lin Xiaoxiao and Gu sha cautiously approached, attempting to seal it.
"I'll try to distract it, you get ready to seal it with the talisman," Gu sha whispered to Lin Xiaoxiao.
Lin Xiaoxiao nodded, then saw Gu sha suddenly take a step forward and loudly call out, "I'm here, see if you can catch me!"
The figure seemed provoked and charged towards Gu sha. Just as it was about to reach Gu sha, Lin Xiaoxiao swiftly waved the sealing charm in her hand and accurately pasted it onto the figure.
With the light emitted from the sealing charm, the figure let out a scream and gradually dissipated into the air.
"Well done, Xiao Xiao!" praised Gu sha.
Lin Xiaoxiao breathed a sigh of relief and pouted, "Your method is too risky. What if it attacks you directly?"
Gu sha smiled slightly, "With you here, I believe you will protect me."
Lin Xiaoxiao couldn't help but smile after listening, "Of course, we are an unbeatable team! But next time, don't play so recklessly, okay?"
"I got it," Gu sha replied softly, with a warm light shining in her eyes.
As the figure disappeared, the atmosphere in the room seemed to brighten slightly, and the shadows of the old furniture no longer seemed as eerie. Lin Xiaoxiao couldn't stand the loneliness and said with some excitement to Gu sha, "Although this mission was very dangerous, this is the power of our teamwork!"
Gu sha smiled slightly, but quickly returned to his usual calmness, "Indeed, but if you could be a little less impulsive, the efficiency might be higher."
Lin Xiaoxiao pretended to be angry and pouted, "Hmph, my 'impulsiveness' is the key to our success, okay? Without me attracting attention, how could you have sealed the deal so smoothly?"
Gu sha did not argue, just shook his head lightly, apparently accustomed to Lin Xiaoxiao's confident and occasionally arrogant personality.
"Alright, let's quickly inspect this room to make sure there are no lingering spirits." Gu sha changed the subject and began searching the room carefully.
Lin Xiaoxiao also put aside her playful thoughts and started assisting Gu sha in the search. As she walked, she muttered, "These spirits are really troublesome, making us run around to clean them up."
Gu sha suddenly stopped and turned to look at Lin Xiaoxiao with a serious tone: "This is our responsibility, no matter how troublesome, we must do it."
Lin Xiaoxiao was infected by Gu sha's serious atmosphere and nodded: "You're right, we are the guardians of this world."
After finishing the search and confirming that there were no other abnormalities in the room, the two of them prepared to leave. Lin Xiaoxiao suddenly turned back to look at the old furniture and said with a smile, "I hope these old guys can rest well." Gu Sha smiled and responded, "Yes, at least tonight, they can be quiet."
After the mission was completed, the two of them left the old apartment building and stepped onto the street in the morning light. Their moods had lightened considerably, and their understanding of each other had deepened over the course of the night.
As dawn broke, the city's skyline began to come into focus. Lin Xiaoxiao and Gu Sha had finally completed the dangerous ghost-catching mission after a night of running around. They stood under an old bridge, where the river flowed quietly, carrying away the weariness and heaviness of the night.
Lin Xiaoxiao Gently kicking the stones by the river, she had a rare relaxed look on her face: "Tonight was quite dramatic. That spirit almost gave me... a heart attack."
Gu sha Glancing at her, he smiled slightly: "But in the end, we still resolved it, didn't we? Your reaction was quick too. The way you applied the talisman was like you've practiced it before."
"Hmph, are you praising me or making fun of me?" Lin Xiaoxiao pretended to glare at him angrily, but soon couldn't help but laugh. "But to be honest, if I hadn't arrived in time, the consequences would have been unimaginable."
Gu sha didn't directly respond, just said lightly, "This is our job, to support each other and help each other."
After a moment of silence, Lin Xiaoxiao suddenly said, "Gu sha, have you ever thought about what it would be like if one day, we... we no longer do this?"
Gu sha was slightly surprised by her question, but quickly regained composure, "Are you saying, no longer dealing with the affairs of the Underworld?"
"Yeah, just living a normal life, not having to deal with ghosts every day, not worrying about how dangerous the next mission will be," Lin Xiaoxiao said wistfully.
Gu sha gazed into the distance, pondered for a moment, and replied, "Our abilities, our responsibilities, determine that we cannot live completely like ordinary people. But I believe that even in this kind of life, we can find our own happiness."
Lin Xiaoxiao listened, feeling a mix of emotions in her heart. She knew that what Gu sha said was true, that their abilities and identities destined them to bear this heavy responsibility, but she still couldn't completely let go.
"Gu sha, have you ever been afraid? I mean, really afraid that a mission might... might have some bad outcome?" Lin Xiaoxiao asked softly.
Gu sha turned around and looked at her seriously: "Fear is a common human emotion, and I am no exception. But more importantly, it's about how to face fear and overcome it. With you by my side, I have more motivation to solve everything."
Lin Xiaoxiao was moved by his words, her eyes filled with tears: "Gu sha, thank you. I am also fortunate to have you by my side."
The two looked at each other and smiled. In that moment, their hearts seemed to connect even more closely.
As the morning light shone, Lin Xiaoxiao and Gu Sha walked along the quiet street on their way home. Along the way, Lin Xiaoxiao seemed completely unaffected by the late-night mission, bouncing with energy and full of life.
"Gu sha, what do you think? If we were to turn that soul incident just now into a movie, do you think it would be a big hit?" Lin Xiaoxiao suddenly became interested and turned to Gu sha with this bizarre question.
Gu sha glanced at her and with a hint of helplessness in his eyes, replied, "Our job is to protect humans from soul disturbances, not to make movies."
Lin Xiaoxiao pouted defiantly, "Hmph, I was just kidding. You're always so serious, no fun at all."
Gu sha smiled slightly, showing a softer side than usual, "Alright, if we were really going to make a movie, what role would you like to play?"
Lin Xiaoxiao Her eyes lit up and she immediately got into character: "Of course, I am the brave and fearless female lead, dedicated to defeating evil spirits and protecting world peace."
Gu sha Shook her head gently: "Then I should be the backstage support, or your partner in this together?"
Lin Xiaoxiao thought for a moment and then said seriously, "Of course you are my strongest partner. Without you, how could I defeat so many powerful souls?"
Gu sha listened and a smile flashed in his eyes, "It looks like I have to perform well, otherwise I don't deserve to be your partner."
Like this, the two of them casually strolled home, discussing their roles in a future fictional movie. Occasional small disputes and teasing made their relationship even closer. These everyday incidents not only did not alienate their relationship, but instead made their bond even stronger.
Lin Xiaoxiao suddenly said, "Gu sha, thinking back, we've been through so much, done so many missions, it feels like a dream."
Gu sha Wei Wei smiled slightly, "Yes, every mission feels like a new adventure, with excitement, challenges, but also a sense of achievement. And most importantly, we've always been together."
Lin Xiaoxiao nodded, feeling warm inside.
Their relationship quietly changed in this series of missions and shared experiences, evolving from mere partners at the beginning to now deeply reliant soulmates, and perhaps even more. Although neither of them has explicitly expressed their feelings for each other, the depth of their bond is undeniable.
Walking on this familiar path, both Lin Xiaoxiao and Gu Sha are content. This emotional connection will be their strongest support.
