The Puppet's Ghost Mother 9: Missing on a Stormy Night

One late night, a strong wind accompanied by heavy rain violently swept through the air, approaching the isolated and helpless old house. 0

The windows made a series of crisp sounds as the rain struck them, as if an indescribable force was trying to break through the boundaries and enter this ancient, isolated house. 0

Nick sat pale-faced on the edge of the bed, tightly gripping the green-suited puppet in his hand. It was a toy their mother had bought for the two siblings in town a while back. 0

His heart was pounding, a kind of unfamiliar fear taking over, making him almost unable to resist the urge to scream. 0

"It's so scary here. If only Mom and Dad were here. They would hug me and tell me not to be afraid," Nick silently called out in his heart, unable to help but think of the lively family dinners at home. Everything was so harmonious back then. 0

Just then, a faint light shot out from the eyes of the puppet in his hand, accompanied by an almost human-like seductive tone. The puppet spoke, "Come with me. I know a safe place, much better than here." 0

Nick hesitated for a moment, but the indescribable sense of fear ultimately led him to make a decision. "Forget it, it's better to go with you than to stay here," he said. He quickly stood up and walked to the corner of the room where the wardrobe was piled with all sorts of clothes, ancient books, and old trunks by Amy. 0

He exerted all his strength to push open the wardrobe, moved some clutter, and then opened the small door, which was a carefully hidden one. 0

A cold wind blew in from the doorway, enveloping Nick in darkness. He followed puppet inside, feeling uneasy but also hopeful. 0

"I hope this choice is the right one," Nick thought as he entered the puppet world with the doll. 0

Amy was studying in her room when suddenly she felt a wave of unease, as if something was about to happen. 0

"Nick must be scared right now," Amy thought to herself. 0

Like a premonition, this unease made her immediately put down the book in her hand and stand up quickly. The plot in the book lost its appeal to her in an instant, replaced by an almost instinctive worry. 0

Amy didn't think much and went straight to Nick's room, gently opening the door with the doorknob. Everything in the room seemed normal, but Nick was not there. His bed was neatly made, the lamp on the desk was still on, but he seemed to have evaporated. 0

"Nick!" Amy called out anxiously. Her voice echoed in the empty room, but she received no response. 0

She began to grow nervous, quickly pacing through the entire house as if searching for an important puzzle piece. From under the living room couch to the corners of the kitchen, from the bathroom cabinets to the small window in the attic, Amy searched every possible hiding place. 0

"It's impossible, he wouldn't have gone that far unless..." Amy's thoughts suddenly turned to the mysterious little door hidden behind the wardrobe. 0

She came into this room, gazing at that door, which stood there quietly, like an inconspicuous but decisive option for her fate. She noticed the wardrobe had been pushed open a little, so the small door was revealed. 0

Amy's heart beat faster, as if it was being tightly grasped by an invisible hand. But in this tense atmosphere, she took a deep breath, trying hard to calm herself down. 0

After hesitating for a moment, Amy ultimately decided to walk towards that door and bring her brother back. 0

After passing through that mysterious door, Amy felt the air around her instantly become unusually fresh. 0

The sky was a bright blue, like an indescribable oil painting. The clouds looked like carefully painted white patterns, with no wind or rain. Everything seemed frozen in a perfect warm weather as if by some kind of magic. 0

"Nick, where are you?" Amy called out anxiously in her heart. 0

Suddenly, a figure quietly appeared in her line of sight. 0

That is the back view of a child standing next to a woman wearing gorgeous clothes. The woman's arms are not made of rough wood like a typical puppet, but are woven from countless threads, moving slowly like a living being. 0

"Nick!" Amy hurried over. 0

As she grabbed the child and turned him around, she found that his face was actually a puppet's face. Amy was so scared that she screamed, feeling like her heart was about to jump out. 0

"Nick? Why have you changed like this!" Amy trembled, grabbing his shoulder. 0

"I am not Nick," the puppet child responded in a cold tone, then quickly hid behind the elegantly dressed woman. 0

The puppet woman smiled and said, "Little sister, you've got the wrong person." 0

"Then where is my brother, Nick?" Amy was on the verge of breaking down. 0

"Who knows, maybe he's right at your house, little sister. Why don't you go back and take a look?" suggested the woman in glamorous clothes. 0

"No, I've looked, he's not at home! He must have come over here!" Amy almost lost control, her voice becoming sharp. 0

"Ah, I meant that house," the puppet woman said, pointing with her finger towards a distant, magnificent and beautiful house. 0

Amy instantly understood that the building was like another "home" on this side, a home filled with strangeness and danger. 0

Amy hurried over there, and as soon as she opened it, a very warm and comfortable space appeared before her. 0

A simple and elegant gray carpet is laid on the floor, with a texture as soft as velvet. The warm copper-colored light spills out from the classical crystal lampshade hanging from the ceiling, creating a luxurious and cozy atmosphere for the entire space. 0

In the center is a large LCD television playing a cartoon program. 0

Her original anxious mood calmed down a lot in this environment. However, when she saw Nick sitting on a leather sofa, staring at the TV without turning his eyes away, that calm suddenly turned into a kind of unease. 0

"Sister, you're here! It's very safe here, no thunderstorms or heavy rain, and there are cartoons on TV to watch." Nick said excitedly, completely immersed in this world, unable to extricate himself, holding a bowl of steaming popcorn in his hand. 0
