Chapter 10: Reeds and Rushes
Zhou Ziyan chose a newly opened Western restaurant on Laiji Street for dinner.
As Junxi stepped out of the car and saw the brand-new sign, she paused. "Aren't you the one who dislikes Western food the most?"
Zhou Ziyan followed her out and turned to open the back door.
"I have no choice. If my future Brother-in-law wants steak, how can I refuse?"
"Who is your Brother-in-law?" Wen Junxuan emerged from the back seat, his brow furrowed.
Zhou Ziyan wrapped an arm around him. "Whoever wants steak is my Brother-in-law."
Wen Junxuan pushed Zhou Ziyan away in disdain, and the two men walked ahead with their arms around each other's shoulders.
Junxi laughed as she followed behind them. In the blink of an eye, her younger brother Jun Xuan was already seventeen. Standing next to the towering Zhou Ziyan, they were about the same height. However, Jun Xuan was quite thin; he had likely focused solely on growing taller over the past few years without gaining much weight. Junxi felt a pang of guilt; sometimes, her concern for Jun Xuan didn't match Zhou Ziyan's care for him…
"Hey, sis, why are you just standing there?" Wen Junxuan stopped and turned back to urge her on.
Junxi quickly caught up with them.
The restaurant's decor was elegant, with Western-style tables and chairs complementing each other perfectly. Perhaps because it had just opened, there weren't many customers yet. But this quiet and uncrowded atmosphere was just right for Junxi.
Jun Xuan flipped through the menu while glancing anxiously at Junxi. "Sister, Zhou Ziyan said you found a job. Is that true?"
"Of course it's true. Xuan, you can order boldly; your sister is about to become a high-salary employee. A steak is just a small case!" Zhou Ziyan helped flip through the menu.
Jun Xuan continued to look at Junxi, his bright eyes sparkling as if he was waiting for her to nod in confirmation.
Junxi felt a pang of affection. She patted Jun Xuan's hand gently and smiled, "Yes. You can eat whatever you want. From now on, your sister will be someone who isn't short on money and will often take you out for good food."
Jun Xuan responded with a soft "mm," finally picking up a pen to start marking items on the menu.
Zhou Ziyan flicked his fingers against Jun Xuan's forehead. "Do you really not trust what I say?"
Jun Xuan nodded lightly. "Yeah, Zhou Ziyan, you always treat me like a girl to placate."
"Hey, you little rascal..." Zhou Ziyan lunged at him but suddenly fell silent as he noticed a couple entering through the door. "Did my uncle's iron tree bloom today?"
Junxi looked up and saw Zhou Xuanyu along with the woman beside him.
She recognized that woman; within Qingcheng, there were probably very few who didn't know her.
The Infant Water Spirit.
The Infant Water Spirit is a famous radio host in Qingcheng. Originally hidden behind the scenes, she has gained significant exposure due to her passion for charity, frequently attending large-scale charitable events alongside various big-name celebrities. In an era where looks are everything, her beauty and kind heart have naturally led to her rising popularity.
Junxi not only knows her but has also had a brief encounter with her.
Two years ago, the Infant Water Spirit was invited to give a lecture at Zijin University, and Junxi happened to be the host of that event. During the event, one of the guests was unable to attend at the last minute, so Junxi approached the Infant Water Spirit to discuss adjusting the order of appearances.
The Infant Water Spirit was just as described in magazines—polite and humble. Without any hesitation, she agreed to go on stage early, even though it would affect the quality of her makeup.
The lecture was an unprecedented success, and Junxi received a substantial grant as a result. At that time, she really needed the money… so she held a favorable impression of this woman.
Zhou Xuanyu also noticed them as he walked towards the Infant Water Spirit, following closely behind her.
