Chapter 39: The White Dew Has Yet to Fade 0

Xue Waiwai took a day off specifically to bring Junxi that outfit. As she entered, she realized that Yatian Villa was the very place where Zhou Ziyan was hosting a birthday party, and confusion washed over her face. 0

"What's the relationship between the person who picked you up yesterday and Zhou Ziyan?" 0

"He's Zhou Ziyan's uncle." 0

"Oh my gosh, your love triangle is quite complicated." 0

"Who has a love triangle? I already said that Zhou Ziyan and I don't have chemistry." 0

Xue Waiwai squinted her eyes. "What about that handsome uncle of his?" 0

Junxi lowered her gaze, her head drooping further as she felt Xue Waiwai's increasingly eager stare. Finally, she managed a flustered smile and said, "It's just unrequited feelings on my part." 0

Indeed, Wen Junxi had liked Zhou Xuanyu for a long time, even before she fully understood what it meant to like someone. 0

"What about him? What does he think?" 0

He... 0

Junxi met Zhou Xuanyu when she was five years old. As the relationship between the Wen and Zhou families grew closer, she and Zhou Xuanyu became increasingly intimate, though it was mostly Junxi who took the initiative to get closer to him. 0

When she was seven, Zhou Xuanyu entered National Defense Science and Technology University as a top student from Qingcheng. 0

The National Defense Science and Technology University is the highest military academy with strict admission criteria, and once enrolled, students are considered active military personnel. They enjoy military benefits but must also adhere to military discipline. 0

This meant that Zhou Xuanyu would be away for a long time. 0

On the day of his farewell party organized by the Zhou family, Junxi accompanied her parents. It was the first time she saw him in a suit. The suit wasn't a conventional style; it was designed by his new girlfriend who studied fashion design. The entire outfit exuded a strong British flair, and on his tall frame, it looked exceptionally good. 0

She couldn't imagine how dashing he would look in military uniform. 0

At the banquet that day, Junxi and Zhou Ziyan were seated at a table with family and friends, while the rest were Zhou Xuanyu's acquaintances. He was in high spirits, showing no signs of sorrow about leaving home. 0

Zhou Ziyan remarked that it was because his uncle's dream was to attend a military academy. 0

Junxi didn't care about dreams; she was solely focused on how long it would be until Zhou Xuanyu returned. Would he still tell her stories and play crossword puzzles with her when he came back? At that time, her affection for him was simply pure. 0

Throughout the evening, her gaze remained fixed on Zhou Xuanyu, so she knew exactly how many blessings he received and how much celebratory drink he consumed. 0

Eventually, he could no longer hold it together and got drunk, and Junxi was the first to notice. 0

She grabbed a napkin from the table, pressed it against her skirt, and jumped off her chair with a soft thud. Ignoring Zhou Ziyan's rare friendly attempt to talk to her, she hurried after Zhou Xuanyu to the restroom. 0

By then, it was late, and there weren't many people in the restroom. So a girl in a princess dress rushing into the men's room didn't attract any attention. 0

As expected, Zhou Xuanyu was bent over the sink, throwing up. No one could manage such a display of elegance while being sick like he did. 0

Junxi pulled out a tissue and held it out to him. He suddenly snapped back to reality, looking down to see her, momentarily taken aback. 0

"What are you doing here?" 0

Zhou Xuanyu was someone who had a clear sense of right and wrong. He would sternly lecture Zhou Ziyan about not hitting girls, so naturally, he had something to say about Junxi brazenly entering the men's restroom. 0

"Here, I brought you some tissue," Junxi said innocently as she handed him a piece. 0

Zhou Xuanyu looked at her for a long moment before suddenly breaking into a smile. His eyes sparkled even more brightly through his drunken haze. 0

"Thank you." Surprisingly, he didn't say much more than that. 0

Just as Junxi let out a sigh of relief, someone outside suddenly burst in laughing. It was one of his friends who called out from afar: "Hey! Everyone's looking for you; turns out you've been hiding in here!" 0

Zhou Xuanyu took the tissue from Junxi's hand and pressed it to his lips, pretending he was about to throw up again. "No way! You guys are trying to drown me!" 0

The men ignored him, their attention fully focused on Junxi. One of them squatted down and pinched Junxi's cheek, saying, "Hey, who is this little beauty?" 0

Zhou Xuanyu leaned in, bending down under the amused gazes of the others. He slipped his hand under Junxi's armpit and lifted her up effortlessly. "Let's save it, everyone. This little flower is already taken." 0

The crowd grew more curious. "Who is it? Could it be you?" 0

"Why would I want to eat such tender grass?" 0

"Then who is it?" 0

"My nephew," he replied with a bright smile, shaking Junxi playfully and teasingly asking her, "Isn't that right?" 0

Junxi kicked her legs and wriggled out of his grasp, responding seriously, "I don't want to marry Zhou Ziyan!" 0

After she said that, she ran off, leaving behind a chorus of laughter that rang out clearly. 0

She heard Zhou Xuanyu say, "Look, she even knows how to be shy." 0

Shy my foot! 0
