Galen's expression did not change in response to Zhou Ziyan's rudeness. Like an elder, she affectionately patted Zhou Ziyan on the shoulder. "Since you've chosen to join the company, why not learn a bit more? This client is very important to the company, and Mr. Zhou specifically asked you to follow along for your own good."
Zhou Ziyan remained indifferent, ignoring her completely.
Junxi understood that Zhou Ziyan's temperament was unpredictable; sometimes she responded well to gentle persuasion, other times she only reacted to firmness, and at times she seemed impervious to both.
Whatever decision this young master made depended entirely on his mood.
Galen smiled awkwardly. "Well, think it over. Mr. Zhou has reserved a spot for you in the conference room."
With that, she walked away.
Zhou Ziyan leaned back in her chair, offering no response at all.
Junxi reached out toward Zhou Ziyan, but unlike Galen's gentle approach, she delivered a punch. It wasn't light, but Zhou Ziyan merely frowned slightly and remained silent.
"You could at least act like you're at work. Why should everyone cater to you?"
Zhou Ziyan brushed Junxi's hand away and replied coolly, "Just because my last name is Zhou."
"And what's wrong with that? Go check the company roster; there are plenty of people with the last name Zhou. Besides, Mr. Zhou shares your surname—does he act like you? He works harder than anyone else here."
Suddenly, Zhou Ziyan shot up from her chair with a loud crash as it tipped backward, startling everyone around them.
Junxi was taken aback for a moment, then glared at him. "What are you doing? Trying to scare someone to death?"
Zhou Ziyan turned around, maintaining his momentum as he marched toward the restroom with a determined stride.
Junxi genuinely feared that he might smash the restroom to pieces, but fortunately, after a while, there was no sound coming from inside.
It seemed this guy still cared about his own property.
She decided to ignore him; there was nothing she could do anyway.
"The client has arrived. We have five minutes to head upstairs."
The internal broadcast from the Security Room announced, repeating the message twice. After that, Galen and Jia Man simultaneously walked out of the office and headed toward the Elevator Entrance.
Today, their outfits were quite coordinated, both wearing high heels paired with professional manager suits. However, Galen's suit was black while Jia Man's was a soft yellow. The former exuded competence while the latter radiated intelligence, each possessing their own charm.
As the elevator doors opened, seven or eight men stepped out, varying in height and build.
Jia Man and Galen approached them, exchanging pleasantries from left to right and right to left, regardless of whether they understood each other’s language. The atmosphere was pleasant, with bursts of laughter and admiration echoing through the crowd.
Indeed, when dealing with male clients, having female managers seemed to be more effective.
Jia Man gestured for them to enter first, leading the group toward the conference room.
As Galen passed by the President's Office, she knocked on the door and went in to summon Zhou Xuanyu.
Zhou Xuanyu had just stepped out of the President's Office when Galen turned to Junxi and gave her a knowing glance. Junxi, ready with the documents, hurried to catch up.
Zhou Xuanyu had long legs and walked briskly, making it difficult for Junxi to keep pace even when she jogged. He showed no intention of waiting for her, his tall figure enveloped in a thick layer of detachment.
It wasn't until they reached the door of the conference room that Zhou Ziyan approached them, prompting Zhou Xuanyu to slow down.
"Are we starting?"
Zhou Ziyan had his hands stuffed in his pockets, wearing a nonchalant expression, but it seemed he had decided to join the meeting.
Junxi smiled.
It appeared that Zhou Ziyan's self-reflection had yielded positive results; the stubbornness on his face was likely just a cover for his embarrassment.
Zhou Ziyan glanced over and caught sight of Junxi smiling at him. He smirked slightly and winked at her.
This little detail did not escape Zhou Xuanyu's notice.
"We're starting," he replied, then expressionless, he shifted his gaze away and pushed open the door.
Inside the conference room, the guests were already seated. Upon seeing Zhou Xuanyu enter, they all stood up in unison.
The guest's boss was Italian, just like Gino. Having previously visited Italy, she felt confident in dealing with this Italian boss.
As for the others, although they came from different countries, Junxi quickly assessed the situation. These individuals had wandering eyes and their gestures revealed a certain frivolity. They were likely brought in as fillers by that boss.
Zhou Xuanyu introduced himself and took the opportunity to introduce Zhou Ziyan to everyone.
The newcomer, the young prince, garnered unanimous praise from the crowd, with everyone exclaiming that Zhou Ziyan was more handsome than his father. Junxi translated this for Zhou Ziyan, who pouted and muttered softly, "They actually compared me to that old man."
Zhou Xuanyu shot a glare at Zhou Ziyan upon hearing his grumbling.
Indeed, making such thoughtless remarks in such a setting was impolite, even if others couldn't understand.
However, when Zhou Ziyan introduced himself, he surprised everyone by speaking in Italian. Although his phrases were simple, this level of proficiency was enough to impress those present.
Junxi silently gave him a thumbs-up, and Zhou Ziyan smiled proudly.
It seemed those classes he attended years ago were not wasted after all.
After some brief pleasantries, everyone took their seats and the negotiations officially began. Zhou Xuanyu reserved one seat for Zhou Ziyan and another for Junxi beside him.
Throughout the meeting, Junxi remained fully focused, fearing she might miss any crucial details that could affect their upcoming collaboration.
During the translation process, she needed to communicate constantly with Zhou Xuanyu. However, while he spoke to her, his gaze never met hers.
She seemed like nothing more than a trivial translation machine.
Junxi felt somewhat uncomfortable.
On the other side, Zhou Ziyan, who had initially shone brightly, appeared to fade into the background as the meeting progressed. He usually just played a minor role and had no real understanding of the company's situation, so even when Junxi translated the client's Chinese words, he still couldn't grasp their meaning.
Fortunately, Zhou Xuanyu was capable enough to handle the entire situation. Although he and Junxi did not exchange glances, they worked together quite harmoniously. Galen sat beside Zhou Ziyan, constantly casting approving looks at Junxi. Meanwhile, Jia Man, who was next to Junxi, maintained a gaze that was always meaningful.
The meeting concluded perfectly. The client's message was clear: they just needed a few more days to discuss matters, and if everything was fine, they could sign the contract at any time.
All the colleagues attending the meeting, including Zhou Xuanyu himself, were very satisfied with this outcome.
Lunch was arranged at Guoyan Hotel next to Hengfu Group's building. As its name suggested, the hotel's standards were said to rival those of a national banquet. Naturally, Junxi didn't believe it and even felt somewhat repulsed by such exaggerated promotional tactics.
However, the hotel's decor was indeed luxurious; she had never entered a place like this before, not even when she was still the young lady of the Wen Family.
In her memory, her father would never allow them to dine in such high-end establishments; he himself also refused to participate in such gatherings.
So when people claimed her father was corrupt and accepted bribes, she was the first to disbelieve it.
Of course, her disbelief was of no consequence. In others' eyes, she was also an important symbol of her father. As the young lady of the Wen Family, her clothing and accessories were all designer brands, and she attended an elite private school...
But what could be criticized about that?
All parents share the same heart. As guardians, they naturally wish to provide the best for their children. Before her father held a high position, he was first and foremost an ordinary father. Within his means, he wanted his child to live as well as possible.
No one had the right to blame his father for this, as everything he provided to Junxi and Jun Xuan was earned through hard work.
Galen had other meetings in the afternoon, so he did not join them for lunch. Zhou Xuanyu, along with Junxi, Zhou Ziyan, and Jia Man, formed a complete table with the guests.
Without the tense atmosphere of the meeting, these guests were quite humorous and witty in private. Everyone remarked that what impressed them most about today’s meeting was Zhou Xuanyu's decisive leadership and Junxi's fluent foreign language skills.
"You are a fantastic combination," commented one of the Italian guests.
Junxi smiled and thanked him, then turned to translate for Zhou Xuanyu.
Zhou Xuanyu curled his lips into a slight smile and repeated his thanks. However, he still avoided Junxi's gaze, as if looking at her even once more would feel burdensome.
Junxi felt disheartened, a sour sensation in her heart as if she had unintentionally swallowed a mouthful of lemon juice, leaving her at a loss.
Everyone began to chat and enjoy their lunch. Jia Man, who hadn’t had a chance to shine in the meeting room, immediately became lively at the dining table. She raised her glass and toasted everyone around. Except for the Italian guest, the other male guests were quite taken by Jia Man's charm.
Zhou Ziyan remained quiet, focusing on his food. Whenever he found something delicious, he would casually add some to Junxi's bowl as well.
Junxi was distracted and hardly tasted her food, unaware that Zhou Xuanyu had been watching the "intimate" exchanges between Zhou Ziyan and her.
