"Are you saying that hitting someone is justified?" Zhou Xuanyu steadied Junxi and then grabbed Zhou Ziyan by the neck.
"I should have killed him!" Zhou Ziyan was still very agitated.
A few customers behind them began to take out their phones to record the incident. Zhou Xuanyu quickly intervened, while Zhou Ziyan seized the opportunity to try to smash their phones.
Junxi grabbed Zhou Ziyan's arm tightly.
"Can you calm down a bit?"
"Call the police! Call the police!" The assaulted customer shouted in broken Chinese, "Call the police for me!"
"Sir, please don't call the police..."
"Don't beg him!" Junxi tried to negotiate with the customer, but Zhou Ziyan pulled her back and glared at the customer. "How dare you still want to call the police!"
"Call the police now!" The customer was in a state of rage, pointing at the trembling waiter and shouting loudly.
The waiter dared not move.
"Sir, I assure you that I and Hengfu Group will give you an explanation. Please don't call the police just yet," Zhou Xuanyu said while trying to calm the customer and shaking his head at the waiter.
"No! No!" The customer flatly refused, showing his determination.
Several other customers behind him also began to actively support calling the police, creating a chaotic scene.
"Do you think the police will understand you?" Zhou Ziyan shouted impatiently.
The waiter couldn't take it anymore and quickly turned to run out.
"Are you crazy?"
Zhou Xuanyu's face darkened with anger. He had already lowered his stance to apologize to the customer, but Zhou Ziyan was insisting on going to the police station. He didn't even consider how much this would affect the reputation of Hengfu Group and his own.
Zhou Ziyan remained silent, stepping back two paces before pulling out a chair and calmly sitting down.
"Get up and apologize," Zhou Xuanyu ordered, pointing at the customer who had been beaten to a pulp by Zhou Ziyan. His gaze and tone left no room for negotiation. "Now!"
"I'd rather die than apologize, Uncle," Zhou Ziyan replied, raising his chin defiantly.
"I'm giving you one last chance. If you don't apologize now, don't blame me for not helping you when you're really in trouble," Zhou Xuanyu issued his final ultimatum.
"You won't need to help me."
"You won't get your father's way either!"
"Don't worry, I won't beg any of you," Zhou Ziyan said stubbornly, unfazed by Zhou Xuanyu's threats.
Zhou Xuanyu nodded.
"Fine, if that's how it is, then so be it."
Zhou Xuanyu pulled Junxi closer. "You’re not allowed to interfere with him."
“Zhou Ziyan…”
“I told you not to interfere with him!”
Junxi wanted to say something more, but was loudly interrupted by Zhou Xuanyu.
The chaos in the private room came to a sudden halt, as if someone had pressed the pause button. The only sound was the pained hissing of the injured guest, while everyone else fell silent.
About fifteen minutes later, the police arrived at the hotel and took everyone in the private room back to the station for questioning.
Once at the police station, Zhou Ziyan admitted to hitting someone but refused to explain why. The other guests all echoed each other, claiming that Zhou Ziyan had suddenly gone mad and started hitting people for no reason.
Junxi did not believe a word of what they said. She knew Zhou Ziyan well; although he could be unreasonable at times, he would never hit someone without cause.
Zhou Ziyan was temporarily detained at the police station for assault.
After leaving the police station, Zhou Xuanyu took the seriously injured guest to the hospital on behalf of Hengfu Group.
The news of Zhou Ziyan, the heir of Hengfu Group, assaulting a Foreign Guest quickly spread. Upon hearing this, Galen rushed over with his lawyer. Unfortunately, after the detention results were announced, Zhou Ziyan refused to see anyone.
Junxi sat in the lobby of the police station waiting; she wanted to find an opportunity to talk with Zhou Ziyan properly.
“What exactly happened?” Galen asked, his face filled with anxiety.
“I was outside at the time.”
"Is there really no one to speak up for Zhou Ziyan?"
Junxi thought for a moment and shook her head.
At that time, both she and Zhou Xuanyu were outside, while Jia Man and that Italian guy were also out; no one knew what had happened inside.
"What about Jia Man?" Junxi suddenly asked.
"She's drunk and lying in the hotel," Galen replied irritably.
Galen was always a woman of few words, treating her colleagues at the company almost equally, rarely showing such strong emotions towards anyone, which indicated that she truly disliked Jia Man.
"The urgent matter now isn't Jia Man, but how to get Zhou Ziyan out. His father is very worried after hearing the news," Galen added.
"Uncle Zhou knows too?"
Galen nodded. "Although Former President rarely leaves the house, his network of information is quite extensive."
Junxi didn't ask where this network extended to because she figured it must be known; Galen was certainly one of those information gatherers.
After ten years, her feelings for Zhou Xuan Yong were undoubtedly deeper than those of Zhou Xuanyu. It was only natural to be loyal to an old master, especially since there was no real conflict between the old and new masters.
"What are we going to do?" Galen paced around the hall. The sound of her high heels clicking on the floor made Junxi even more irritated.
She didn't know what to do with that piece of rotten wood named Zhou Ziyan.
"Right now, the only one who can save Zhou Ziyan is probably Mr. Zhou." Galen stopped in his tracks and looked at Junxi. "What did Mr. Zhou say before he went to the hospital?"
Junxi furrowed her brows helplessly. "Mr. Zhou didn't say anything at all."
"What do you mean by 'didn't say anything'?"
"Mr. Zhou meant that he absolutely wouldn't care about Zhou Ziyan."
Junxi recounted the events surrounding the fight she had witnessed, especially the conflict between Zhou Ziyan and Zhou Xuanyu.
After listening, Galen sighed.
"It's no wonder Mr. Zhou is angry. This client is very important to the company, and he has prepared for this meeting for a long time. Now, with this fight, everything could fall apart. The efforts of so many people in the company might go to waste."
"But I think there must be a reason for Zhou Ziyan to fight. He wasn't drunk today, and even if he were, he wouldn't just hit someone for no reason."
Zhou Ziyan's drinking habits weren't that bad.
"I believe that, but Mr. Zhou has to believe it too," Galen said, her gaze suddenly turning suggestive as she sat down beside Junxi and affectionately wrapped an arm around her shoulder. "Why don't you try to persuade Mr. Zhou?"
Junxi's heart skipped a beat.
"I'm just a nobody; your words carry more weight, Manager Gao. Convincing Mr. Zhou would definitely be more effective coming from you." There was no exaggeration in her words, but Junxi couldn't bring herself to meet Galen's eyes.
Those experienced eyes seemed capable of seeing through everything.
Galen gently squeezed Junxi's shoulder with the hand resting on it and said meaningfully, "Junxi, I can tell that you hold a special place in Mr. Zhou's heart."
“Manager Gao…”
“I’ve said enough; the rest, you know what to do,” Galen interrupted her.
Junxi pressed her lips together. The woman before her was deeply skilled, and she was no match for her.
However, even if Galen hadn’t spoken, she would have sought out Zhou Xuanyu.
?
By the time Zhou Xuanyu left the hospital, night had fallen. He headed straight to the parking lot. After getting into his car, he searched all his pockets but found no cigarettes. After calming down a bit, he remembered that his cigarette pack and lighter were left on the hotel windowsill.
This day had been unbearably terrible. It felt like falling from the clouds into a deep valley, as if a roller coaster had taken an unexpected turn.
The guests who were assaulted insisted on suing Zhou Ziyan. Due to their nationality, this matter was far from being resolved like an ordinary case. Their Boss found it particularly difficult to understand why one of his employees had suddenly been attacked. What had almost been a successful collaboration now turned into an unresolved mystery, and it was undoubtedly ominous.
Zhou Xuanyu was extremely irritated.
He pulled out his phone and called Junxi. After confirming that she was home, he headed over to her place.
Junxi had prepared dinner and was waiting for him.
As soon as Zhou Xuanyu entered the door, the first thing he did was look for something to drink. After a long day, he felt parched, and the disappointing outcome only added to his frustration.
He grabbed a cup of water and sat on the sofa, gulping it down in one go.
Junxi walked over and wrapped her arms around his neck from behind. Then she pressed gently on his temples, applying light pressure on both sides.
"How did the hospital respond?"
"The guest is seriously injured; the second rib on the left side is fractured."
Junxi gasped, "Is it that serious? Are they really not going to let Zhou Ziyan off the hook?"
"Don't mention that kid," Zhou Xuanyu replied irritably.
Junxi relaxed her grip and turned to face Zhou Xuanyu, sitting down beside him. She poured him a glass of water and, after calming his emotions, cautiously asked, "Are you really not going to do anything about Zhou Ziyan?"
"He brought this on himself."
"Others may not know what kind of person Zhou Ziyan is, but don't you?" Junxi couldn't help but get agitated. "Even if he won't admit it, I know there must be a reason behind his actions."
Zhou Xuanyu glanced at Junxi indifferently.
"I don't understand him as well as you do."
