Chapter 146: Conclusion Chapter 6 [End of Text]
Junxi and Zhou Xuanyu returned to Qingcheng after only two days in France, as Shen Yunchong's wedding date had arrived, and they promised to come back for the ceremony.
On the eve of the wedding, since Shen Yunchong and Ouyang Shuyu were busy with preparations and unable to care for their daughter Shen Minya, they specifically arranged for Minya to be sent to Junxi and Zhou Xuanyu's residence for them to look after her.
As soon as Minya entered the door and saw Zhou Xuanyu, she hid behind Junxi.
"What's wrong, Minya?" Junxi asked, puzzled, as she reached out to pull Minya from behind her.
Minya frowned and clung tightly to Junxi, unwilling to look at Zhou Xuanyu.
Before Junxi could figure out what was happening, Zhou Xuanyu had already understood. He exchanged a glance with Junxi and walked over slowly. When he reached Minya's side, he crouched down.
"Minya," he called gently.
Minya grasped Junxi's clothing tightly and glanced at him before trying to hide even further away, but Zhou Xuanyu caught her in one swift motion.
He lifted Minya into his arms.
"Are you still upset about your uncle hitting your dad?" Zhou Xuanyu asked softly.
Junxi suddenly recalled that when Zhou Xuanyu had rushed into the hospital and confronted Shen Yunchong, Minya had been right there watching.
In a child's world, good and evil are clearly defined. Zhou Xuanyu hitting someone made him the bad guy; she didn't understand the complexities behind it.
"Sister Junxi..." Minya struggled in Zhou Xuanyu's embrace, wanting to leap into Junxi's arms.
Junxi held Minya's hand, trying to soothe her emotions.
"Uncle is asking you a question. Not answering would be rude."
Minya paused for a moment, then pouted defiantly and said, "It's Uncle who is being rude for hitting people."
"That's right. It's wrong for Uncle to hit people. Uncle has already apologized to your dad, and your dad has forgiven him. Now, Uncle is apologizing to you too. Can you forgive Uncle?" Zhou Xuanyu spoke patiently.
Minya looked at Zhou Xuanyu's sincere expression and remained silent.
Junxi gently squeezed Minya's little arm, reminding her, "Minya, what do you say when someone apologizes to you?"
Minya blinked but didn't immediately say it was okay. Instead, she asked, "Then Uncle, why did you hit my dad? Did my dad do something wrong?"
Zhou Xuanyu shook his head.
"Your dad didn't do anything wrong; it's just that Uncle was afraid your dad would take Sister Junxi away..."
"So you like Sister Junxi?" Minya naturally picked up the conversation.
Zhou Xuanyu glanced at Junxi.
Junxi was lowering her head and smiling.
"Yes, I not only like you, Sister Junxi, but I also love her."
His response was serious, yet Minya seemed to understand only partially.
"Then since you love her, does that mean you will marry Sister Junxi like Dad married Mom?" Minya's bright eyes twinkled. "Dad said that only when you love someone will you marry them."
Junxi looked up at Zhou Xuanyu.
"Shall we go play upstairs?"
However, Zhou Xuanyu deliberately averted his gaze, avoiding Minya's question.
"Is there anything fun upstairs?" Minya, being a child, was easily distracted.
"There are dolls upstairs. Your uncle knew you were coming and specially had someone buy them."
"Really? Are they the kind of Barbie Dolls I like?"
"Yes. They are the Barbie Dolls you like. Do you want to go see them?"
"Yes, yes!"
Minya had completely forgotten the hostility she felt towards Zhou Xuanyu when she first entered the room. She was animatedly discussing her favorite Barbie Doll while nestled in his arm.
Zhou Xuanyu listened intently, showing no signs of dismissing Minya.
Junxi was surprised by Zhou Xuanyu's demeanor, as in her memory, Shen Yunchong had never been patient enough to listen to Minya talk about such things.
Minya was delighted that this handsome uncle seemed to "like" Barbie Dolls just like her and was even willing to hear her stories about them.
"Uncle, let's be good friends, okay?" Minya suddenly suggested.
"Good friends?" Zhou Xuanyu replied, glancing at Junxi with a smug look.
Junxi shot him a playful glare.
"Yes! But the condition is that you can’t fight with my dad anymore."
"Of course, I will never fight with your dad again," he said, after all, Wen Junxi was already his.
"And you have to be really nice to Sister Junxi."
"That's a given."
"Then let's be good friends." Minya extended her pinky finger towards Zhou Xuanyu.
Was this... a pinky promise?
Junxi looked at Minya's serious expression, unable to help but chuckle. Zhou Xuanyu, however, solemnly extended his pinky finger and made a promise with Minya.
"Great! I've got another good friend."
"How many good friends do you have?"
"Not many, just Xiao Qi and Big Cat from kindergarten. Oh, and there's Brother Junxuan..."
"Brother Junxuan too?"
"Yeah."
"Did you make a promise with him?"
"No, because he was too shy..."
"Hahaha..."
Junxi stood in the hallway, watching the pair laugh and play as they went upstairs. Her heart felt soft; this simple, peaceful happiness was exactly what she had been hoping for.
?
After preparing some fruit, Junxi headed upstairs. As soon as she opened the door to the study, she found Minya already asleep on the sofa.
"How did you fall asleep?" Junxi set down the fruit platter and tiptoed over.
"You're probably exhausted from playing before coming here, just fell asleep on the sofa," Zhou Xuanyu said, looking at Minya, whose small face was nestled into the cushion, peaceful and obedient. It reminded him of a moment with Junxi.
"Then take her to the guest room to sleep, so she doesn't catch a chill," Junxi suggested, leaning down to pick up Minya.
Zhou Xuanyu stopped her.
"I'll do it; this little one is quite heavy."
Junxi nodded and stepped back.
Zhou Xuanyu skillfully lifted Minya into his arms. He took two steps back but suddenly halted and turned to look at Junxi.
"What's wrong?" Junxi walked over to him.
He weighed Minya in his arms and felt a wave of nostalgia. "This is how you grew up in my embrace."
Back then, he had never imagined, nor dared to think, that they would one day be together. Life is full of unpredictability; no matter how many imperfections they encountered along the way, as long as the ending is beautiful, that is enough.
Junxi blinked, clearly wanting to laugh, but as she smiled, her eyes glistened with unshed tears.
"So you feel lucky," she said.
"Yes, I do."
"Since you know you're lucky, can you promise to love only me from now on?"
"I can't," he replied crisply.
"Can't?" Junxi was surprised, then stared at Zhou Xuanyu, demanding an explanation.
"In the future, besides loving you, I will also love your family and our children," he said seriously.
"Who said anything about having children with you!" Junxi's face turned red as she avoided his gaze and walked ahead to open the study door for him.
Zhou Xuanyu smiled without saying a word.
The warm yellow light illuminated her flushed face, and as he passed by her, he couldn't help but plant a kiss on her cheek.
"What are you doing!"
Fearing he might go too far, Junxi quickly reached out to push him, signaling that Minya could wake up at any moment.
Zhou Xuanyu didn't make any further advances.
"I'll come back later to discuss the matter of children with you."
"You..."
"Shh!"
"..."
Zhou Xuanyu and Junxi settled Minya into the guest room, only leaving after confirming she was sound asleep.
"Let's go have some fruit. I've prepared it all," Junxi said, pulling Zhou Xuanyu towards the study.
The fruit platter was still there from earlier.
However, Zhou Xuanyu turned back and pulled her back towards him.
"I'm not eating."
"Why not? It'll go bad."
"If it goes bad, we'll throw it away."
After all, they still had important matters to discuss; fruit was nothing in comparison.
"You’re just… wasting it."
But before Junxi could finish her sentence, Zhou Xuanyu had already lowered his head and kissed her lips. He could taste the strawberries she had snuck while carrying the fruit platter upstairs.
Now, her mouth was filled with the sweet scent of strawberries, making him unable to resist wanting to taste her again.
Junxi whimpered slightly as she parted her lips for him, and he entered gently.
The intensity of their passion escalated in the corridor, but fortunately, Junxi regained her senses just in time and quickly called for a stop.
“Minya, what if we wake her up?”
She gasped as she dodged Zhou Xuanyu's kiss.
Zhou Xuanyu didn’t respond; instead, he continued to part her lips. During the kiss, he changed direction, holding her tightly as they moved down the corridor toward the master bedroom.
The door to the master bedroom was slightly ajar, and with a push, he entered. Once inside, Zhou Xuanyu quickly shut the door behind them.
Junxi found herself pressed against the back of the door as his hands swiftly removed her clothing.
“Wait. Are we really having a baby?” Junxi asked.
“Mm-hmm.” He replied casually, not pausing his movements.
As she endured the overwhelming sensations he was creating, she wrapped her arms around his neck and asked, “So do you prefer a boy or a girl?”
Before Zhou Xuanyu could answer, Junxi added, “I heard that men are impatient and tend to have daughters.”
Where did she hear such nonsense?
“A daughter would be nice,” Zhou Xuanyu said.
Saying this, he lifted Junxi effortlessly and carried her toward the bed.
“I like daughters too,” Junxi murmured softly in his embrace.
Zhou Xuanyu placed her beneath him, his hand gently caressing the strands of hair by Junxi's ear.
"Are you saying I can be a bit more eager?"
"Hey..."
"Alright, let's create a daughter."
"…"
In a moment when Junxi was unguarded, Zhou Xuanyu completely possessed her…
As dawn broke, the child in the guest room continued to sleep soundly. Zhou Xuanyu looked at the woman in his arms; she was still deeply asleep.
He couldn't help but lean down and kiss her lips.
Yesterday, she had said she liked having a daughter.
A daughter would be wonderful. If dreams came true, he would cherish their daughter and treat Junxi as if she were his own daughter.
Perhaps he had been staring at her for too long, as Junxi stirred in his embrace and then opened her eyes.
"You woke up so early," she said, rubbing her eyes and sneaking a glance at Zhou Xuanyu through her fingers.
Zhou Xuanyu let out a soft "hm" as he pulled her hand over and pressed it against his waist, then wrapped his arms around her.
"If you're tired, you can sleep a bit more," he said gently.
Junxi pressed down hard on his firm abdominal muscles. At least he was self-aware enough to know how exhausting he had made her the night before.
"I'm not sleeping. I have to attend a wedding today."
She slipped out of his embrace, threw on some clothes, and headed to the bathroom to freshen up.
Before long, Zhou Xuanyu followed her in, wearing only a pair of sweatpants, his upper body bare and marked with clear scratches. True, he had worn her out last night, but judging by his condition, she hadn't exactly been idle either.
Junxi caught a glimpse of him in the mirror, spat out the foam in her mouth, and lowered her head sheepishly as she squeezed toothpaste onto his brush.
Zhou Xuanyu noticed her thoughtful gesture and reached up to stroke Junxi's hair in appreciation.
"Let me help you brush your teeth," Junxi suddenly suggested.
"Hm?" Zhou Xuanyu frowned.
He wasn't a child; his arms were perfectly fine. Why would she need to help him brush his teeth?
But Junxi was feeling playful.
She casually grabbed Zhou Xuanyu's toothbrush and used her other hand to tilt his chin up.
"Open your mouth!"
"Junxi..."
"Be good!" Junxi said firmly.
Zhou Xuanyu couldn't help but chuckle, but he obediently opened his mouth.
As the toothbrush entered, a burst of white tea fragrance instantly filled his mouth. The sweet and refreshing taste made him gradually relax, and he suddenly thought that this wasn't such a bad idea after all.
Junxi's movements were gentle, not making him feel uncomfortable at all. A smile began to appear in Zhou Xuanyu's eyes.
He really felt like he was regressing. At his age, he still needed someone else to brush his teeth?
This girl certainly had some unique ideas.
There was a noticeable height difference between them, so to spare her arms from getting tired, Zhou Xuanyu picked her up and set her on the high sink.
With them facing each other at eye level, it indeed made things much easier for Junxi.
She carefully brushed Zhou Xuanyu's teeth from top to bottom, then handed him a cup of clean water.
After rinsing his mouth, Zhou Xuanyu wiped it with a towel.
"Do you want to check your handiwork?" he asked.
"Um?"
Junxi had not yet reacted when Zhou Xuanyu kissed her lips, directly breaching her defenses.
Amidst their mingled breaths was the faint fragrance of white tea; she was sweet, and he was sweet as well.
As they kissed, Zhou Xuanyu's hands began to wander into Junxi's robe. Just as the "battle" seemed ready to escalate, a voice suddenly called from outside.
"Sister Junxi, are you awake?"
Junxi quickly pushed Zhou Xuanyu away, jumped off the washstand, and tidied her hair in front of the mirror.
"Hurry and get dressed," she told Zhou Xuanyu before running out.
Zhou Xuanyu watched her swaying figure and couldn't help but chuckle.
It seemed that having a child at home wasn't necessarily a bad thing.
?
Shen Yunchong's wedding was grand. Knowing that the bride loved flowers, the designer specifically themed the entire event around "Flower Fairy."
The wedding venue was like an ocean of flowers.
To Junxi's surprise, many of the guests attending the wedding were her own friends and family.
It was not surprising that her parents and younger brother were present; they were already on the guest list invited by Shen Yunchong. Xue Waiwai, as an employee of Zhongyuan Group, was naturally there as well. Zhou Ziyan's appearance was also expected, but why had all her other dormitory sisters come one by one?
Xue Waiwai explained, "What's so surprising about this? Weren't you the one who was supposed to marry Shen Yunchong? The invitations have already been sent out; there's no reason to take them back. Besides, President Shen isn't short on money; having one more table doesn't matter. And getting married is a good thing—more people to offer their blessings is even better, right?"
This explanation felt a bit forced because Junxi couldn't remember ever sending out wedding invitations.
But she didn't have time to think it through as she was urged to take her seat.
The wedding was about to begin.
As the music started, the doors of the venue slowly opened.
Ouyang Shuyu, dressed in a vintage white wedding gown, walked down the red carpet hand in hand with her father, making her way toward Shen Yunchong. The veil covered her face, but one could still faintly see the smile in Ouyang Shuyu's eyes.
This was the end of suffering and the beginning of sweetness; it was springtime blooming anew, a conclusion of the past and a start for the future.
Shen Yunchong's gaze followed Ouyang Shuyu's every step.
Everyone present could see that the usually composed Shen Yunchong stood there with a stiff posture. Yet despite his nervousness, his attention never wavered from his bride.
After waiting so long, he finally had this woman who truly belonged to him.
In contrast to her parents' emotional tension, Minya appeared particularly relaxed throughout the process. She bounced along behind Ouyang Shuyu, laughing and energetically tossing petals from the Flower Basket into the air.
Finally, Shen Yunchong took Ouyang Shuyu's hand.
They swore, they embraced, they kissed... and thus they promised each other a lifetime.
On stage, Shen Yunchong said, "I want to thank many people for helping me and Ouyang Shuyu get to where we are today. But most importantly, I want to thank her for never giving up on waiting for me despite all the misunderstandings. Ouyang Shuyu always says she believes that every wait in this world has its meaning. I used to not believe that, but now, I think I was foolish back then."
Laughter erupted from the audience.
Shen Yunchong smiled as well, and once the laughter subsided, he continued, "I have always been unsure of what love is. Even now, I can't define it, but I know that as long as Ouyang Shuyu is by my side, love is right there with me. From today onward, we will cherish each other. No more hurt, no more loss, only the happiness of a family together. Thank you all for coming to witness the beginning of our happiness."
The applause thundered below.
Zhou Xuanyu discreetly handed a handkerchief to Junxi, who only then realized her face was already streaked with tears.
"Here, wipe your tears," Zhou Xuanyu said.
Junxi sniffled but didn't move.
Zhou Xuanyu took the handkerchief back and gently wiped her face himself.
"You’re crying now; what will you do later?"
Junxi still hadn’t grasped Zhou Xuanyu’s deeper meaning when Shen Yunchong suddenly handed the microphone to Ouyang Shuyu.
Ouyang Shuyu followed her husband’s lead in lightening the mood and said, "I know many unmarried ladies are eyeing the bouquet in my hands today, but I'm sorry; I won’t be tossing it. I want to give it directly to someone."
The crowd of girls below erupted in excitement.
Ouyang Shuyu's calm gaze swept across the room, landing directly on Junxi.
"I want to give this bouquet to my daughter's godmother."
Junxi was taken aback.
Ouyang Shuyu crouched down and whispered something in Minya's ear. Immediately, Minya turned and ran off the stage, heading straight for Junxi.
"Sister Junxi... oh no, godmother." Minya corrected herself a bit shyly, then took Junxi's hand. "Mom said that the person who catches the bouquet will be the next bride. Our whole family hopes you can marry Uncle Xuan Yu soon. So the bouquet has to go to you."
As she spoke, Minya tugged on Junxi's hand.
Junxi stood up with Minya and glanced at Zhou Xuanyu as she did so.
Zhou Xuanyu remained expressionless, looking at the stage as if he knew nothing.
Once Junxi stepped onto the stage, Ouyang Shuyu approached her with a smile, handing the bouquet to Junxi and then leaning in to give her a hug.
"Thank you for always taking care of Minya. I hope you can be happy with us."
"Thank you." Junxi felt tears welling up again and dabbed at her eyes with the handkerchief Zhou Xuanyu had given her.
Ouyang Shuyu released her and playfully winked at her.
"Mr. Zhou! Where are you, Mr. Zhou? Didn't you say you wanted to borrow ten minutes from me?" Shen Yunchong teased as he called out to the crowd.
Suddenly, the lights in the venue dimmed, leaving only a single beam of light shining directly on Zhou Xuanyu.
Zhou Xuanyu stood up, and in the blink of an eye, a bouquet of vibrant red roses appeared in his arms as if by magic. He held the flowers and walked step by step toward the flower stand.
The beam of light followed Zhou Xuanyu all the way, his suit impeccably tailored, his demeanor rivaling that of the groom today.
"Hey, hey, hey, lighting technician, are you kidding me? It's my wedding today; why does Zhou Xuanyu get this treatment when I don't?" Shen Yunchong teased deliberately.
Laughter erupted from the audience, the atmosphere continuing the earlier joy, even adding a touch of something different.
When Zhou Xuanyu reached Junxi, the lights in the venue brightened again.
Junxi looked up and saw Zhou Xuanyu kneeling before her, a neatly arranged bouquet of roses in hand, with a diamond ring sparkling atop it.
"Junxi, marry me. Please?"
Zhou Xuanyu gazed intently at Junxi.
The venue fell silent, as if everyone was holding their breath along with Zhou Xuanyu, waiting for Junxi's answer.
Junxi tightened her grip on her bouquet, her hands trembling with nervousness.
In fact, ever since returning from France, Junxi had been wondering when Zhou Xuanyu would finally propose to her. However, during this time, he had been remarkably composed. Whenever the topic came up, he always found a way to avoid or change it.
So Junxi thought she would have to wait a while longer; after all, she had never imagined it would be today.
It was truly an unexpected surprise.
“Mr. Zhou, it seems that ten minutes isn't enough,” Shen Yunchong teased Zhou Xuanyu, but in reality, he was reminding Junxi that she had been stunned for quite a while.
Junxi quickly snapped back to reality.
“Okay.” She nodded.
Zhou Xuanyu smiled.
Junxi leaned down to help Zhou Xuanyu up.
Zhou Xuanyu handed her the flowers.
With one hand holding the bouquet from Ouyang Shuyu and the other wrapped around the roses Zhou Xuanyu had given her, Junxi thought that this might be the continuation of happiness.
Zhou Xuanyu took off a ring from one of the flower petals and slipped it onto Junxi's ring finger.
Ouyang Shuyu and Shen Yunchong were the first to start clapping, and soon the applause from the audience erupted into a chorus.
Through her tears, Junxi saw her parents, her brother, and her friends waving at her from not far away.
It turned out that Zhou Xuanyu had arranged this proposal at such a fairy-tale-like wedding long ago. No wonder so many of her friends, who had no connection to Shen Yunchong, were present at the wedding.
In fact, they had been invited by Zhou Xuanyu to witness Junxi's happiness.
“Mr. Zhou, do you have anything to say after stealing my thunder?” Shen Yunchong passed the microphone to Zhou Xuanyu.
Zhou Xuanyu smiled and patted Shen Yunchong on the shoulder as he took the microphone.
“First, I want to thank President Shen for generously giving me the opportunity to steal your spotlight. And thanks to my sister-in-law for passing on the beautiful meaning of the bouquet to Junxi. The reason I chose to propose at President Shen's wedding, aside from wanting to overshadow him…”
Laughter erupted from the audience, including Shen Yunchong and Ouyang Shuyu.
“Is because our families are truly fated. My love with Junxi has weathered many storms before we came together. Today, borrowing from President Shen's joyous occasion, I want to share our happiness with everyone, hoping it brings even more joy… President Shen and I had a long talk the other night, and from now on, we will supervise each other and share our experiences of loving our wives.”
“Hahaha…”
The wedding concluded amidst laughter and joy.
Ouyang Shuyu remarked that they were blessed with double happiness today.
After the ceremony, according to tradition, Minya knelt in front of the newlyweds' parents in the Inner Hall.
Additionally, she paid her respects to her godparents, Junxi and Zhou Xuanyu.
Zhou Xuanyu was well-prepared; as soon as Minya sweetly called out “Godfather,” he immediately pulled out two large red envelopes and handed them to her, including one for Junxi as well.
Shen Yunchong teased from the side, “Minya, make sure to count how many zeros are in there when you get home. Your dad and mom might not even give you as much as your godfather did for their wedding.”
Minya: “……”
After a day filled with laughter and playful antics, Junxi followed Zhou Xuanyu home.
Upon arriving, Junxi discovered a delightful surprise.
In Yatian's home, Zhou Xuanyu had taken the time while she was away to arrange a special setup.
As Junxi pushed open the door, she was greeted by a living room adorned with balloons, and the dining table was already set with bright red candles and wine.
Noticing that Junxi stood frozen at the entrance, Zhou Xuanyu wrapped his arms around her and pulled her inside.
"What’s all this for?" she asked.
"To celebrate our successful engagement."
"You were so sure it would work out?"
"Well, it did, didn’t it?" he replied confidently.
Junxi shot him a glance, but he silenced her with a kiss.
"No backing out now," he warned in a hushed voice after their lips parted.
"I won't regret it at all. But you..."
"I won't either." Zhou Xuanyu patted his chest and made a solemn promise.
Junxi smiled and followed him to the dining table.
Zhou Xuanyu personally opened a bottle of red wine, pouring a glass for Junxi before filling one for himself as they sat next to each other.
"Today feels like a dream," Junxi said, taking a sip of the wine and sighing softly.
Zhou Xuanyu gently caressed her cheek. Though he remained silent, he silently vowed in his heart that from now on, every day would feel like a dream for her.
"How are we going to get married?" Junxi asked.
Although she knew that discussing this topic might seem a bit hasty, the thought of marrying Zhou Xuanyu made her eager to settle the wedding plans as soon as possible.
"Destination wedding?" Zhou Xuanyu casually suggested.
Junxi jumped up excitedly. "How did you know I wanted a destination wedding?"
Zhou Xuanyu smiled without answering.
"My lifelong wish has been to have a destination wedding! I want to go to Vienna, to Madrid, to..."
She listed off six cities in one breath.
"Wait a moment." Zhou Xuanyu stood up.
Junxi turned her head and saw Zhou Xuanyu walk over to the coffee table. He opened a drawer and pulled out a thick envelope.
He returned and placed the envelope in front of Junxi.
"Open it and take a look."
"What is it?" Junxi asked curiously. From the outside, it looked like a stack of money.
She opened the envelope and pulled out the contents, only to discover that they were plane tickets.
There were twelve tickets in total, six with her name on them and six with his.
The destinations on those tickets matched every place she had just mentioned, and they were all connected. Zhou Xuanyu had already planned the route.
"How did you know..."
This was even more surprising to Junxi than when he proposed at Shen Yunchong's wedding.
"I certainly know." Zhou Xuanyu smiled triumphantly.
"But I never told anyone! I only wrote it in my diary... Wen Junxuan!" Junxi suddenly realized. "Did that guy tell you?"
"I didn't say anything at all." Zhou Xuanyu swirled the red wine in his glass, pretending to look elsewhere.
Jun Xuan had repeatedly instructed him not to let his sister know about this.
But the kid was really foolish; no matter how tight-lipped he was, he was still the prime suspect in his sister's mind. There was no need for guessing; she could easily conclude it was him.
"That guy is always doing things behind our backs."
"He’s doing it for our own good."
"For your own good."
"For my good means it's for your good."
"…"
Junxi felt both exasperated and amused. Nevertheless, she was genuinely touched by what Jun Xuan and Zhou Xuanyu had prepared for her.
"It really feels like a dream; pinch me."
Zhou Xuanyu leaned closer. "I wouldn't want to pinch you; how about I kiss you instead?"
Junxi took the opportunity to cup his face and asked, "Do you really have time to travel with me?"
"My entire life is yours."
Junxi resigned from Zhongyuan Group, not specifically for a wedding trip, but because she had long harbored this intention.
After all, her decision to work as a clerk at Zhongyuan Group was out of necessity. Her true passion lay in translation work.
Once Zhou Xuanyu had arranged his affairs, they set off according to their planned schedule.
Their first stop was Vienna.
However, just a few days after arriving in Vienna, Zhou Xuanyu flew her back to Qingcheng.
The reason? Junxi was pregnant.
When Zhou Xuanyu learned about Junxi's pregnancy, he immediately called his mother-in-law, Yang Tingfang.
Yang Tingfang emphasized that the first three months of pregnancy were crucial. Although traveling seemed pleasant, it could be exhausting. She advised Zhou Xuanyu to take Junxi back to Qingcheng to rest.
Upon hearing his mother-in-law's analysis, Zhou Xuanyu found it very reasonable and promptly booked return tickets.
Junxi didn't experience any significant pregnancy symptoms; she didn't even have morning sickness. She wanted to continue exploring these places, but the little one in her belly had come as quite a surprise.
As a first-time father, Zhou Xuanyu was nervous, feeling as if there was not just a child growing inside her but a ticking time bomb. However, he promised Junxi that once the baby arrived, he would make time to take her out again.
"Just the two of us?" Junxi asked anxiously.
"Of course, just the two of us." He wasn't keen on bringing along this little bundle of responsibility.
After returning home, Zhou Xuanyu put aside the matter of buying a house for Junxi's parents and directly brought Junxi's entire family to live with him in Yatian.
The house suddenly became lively, and Junxi was very happy.
To ensure that Junxi ate well and enjoyed herself, Yang Tingfang prepared various delicious meals for her every day. As a result, Junxi gained some weight. She couldn't bear to see herself getting so plump, but Zhou Xuanyu particularly liked it.
He said, "You were too thin before; it was uncomfortable to hold you. Now it's just right."
"Yeah, I think it's just right too. You were nothing but skin and bones before," Zhou Ziyan chimed in while eating, his words somewhat muffled.
Xiang Han had been on a business trip during this time, and with no one to cook for him, Zhou Ziyan came over to Junxi's house every day to mooch off her meals.
"They say you shouldn't bite the hand that feeds you; why aren't you helping me out here?" Junxi glared at Zhou Ziyan.
"I'm just stating the facts; there's no favoritism here," Zhou Ziyan replied seriously. After saying that, he took advantage of Zhou Xuanyu turning to the kitchen for a spoon and quietly added to Junxi, "I can help you with other things, but I really can't help you with this one. You have no idea; my uncle wishes he could add another ten pounds to you."
Junxi pouted. When Zhou Xuanyu came back out, she declared loudly, "Three months have already passed; I've gone through the dangerous period. I want to go back to work."
"No way," Zhou Xuanyu flatly refused.
"Why not? I heard from Xiaolin that your translator resigned and you're looking for someone new. Isn't that perfect for me?" Junxi said sweetly while wrapping her arms around Zhou Xuanyu's.
Zhou Xuanyu pinched Junxi's cheek and said, "You want to be my translator? Should I focus on dealing with clients or taking care of you?"
"I can handle it; you don't need to take care of me."
"No," Zhou Xuanyu firmly rejected.
Junxi paid no attention to Zhou Xuanyu.
She had secretly inquired with Xiaolin about the time and location of the interview, and when Zhou Xuanyu was distracted, she slipped into the company, ready for her interview.
The number of candidates attending the interview was just as numerous as during Junxi's internship year.
However, unlike that year, the only difference was that none of the interviewees were dressed flamboyantly.
Xiaolin remarked, "Everyone knows Mr. Zhou is devoted to his wife. The prettier the girl, the less likely he is to let her get close. Who would dare to dress up beautifully to seek a job?"
Upon hearing this, Junxi felt quite satisfied.
Regardless of the outcome, she didn't feel like her trip was in vain today.
To avoid making Junxi wait too long, Xiaolin specifically arranged for her to be the first candidate interviewed.
As Junxi entered the interview room, Zhou Xuanyu had his head down, just like before, not even glancing at her. It wasn't until the interviewers beside him gasped in surprise that Zhou Xuanyu slowly lifted his head.
Upon seeing Junxi, Zhou Xuanyu's brows immediately furrowed together.
Junxi blinked her eyes, thinking to herself, "Honey, just let me work here."
Zhou Xuanyu's inner thoughts were resolute: "No. When I say no, it means no."
She pouted, "But I really want to be by your side every day."
He pondered, "Well..."
He wanted that too.
Only being able to see her after work each day was indeed not enough to quench his thirst.
She continued to give him a meaningful look. "I promise I won't cause any trouble. I'll be good and protect the kids."
He relaxed a bit. "Are you sure?"
She nodded repeatedly, putting on a pitiful expression. "I'm sure!"
Zhou Xuanyu lowered his head and nodded at the other interviewers.
"Let's begin. Please introduce yourself."
After Zhou Xuanyu's approval, the interviewer on the far left pretended to be formal as he addressed Junxi.
Junxi took a deep breath, adjusted his posture, and introduced himself, "My name is Wen Junxi. The 'Wen' from literature, 'The Mountain Has Trees' without branches, and 'Junxi' as in 'you don't know, Junxi.'"
Zhou Xuanyu couldn't help but smile slightly.
This was her habitual way of introducing herself since childhood; it wasn't something she could just change on a whim. Whenever someone asked her to introduce herself, it would spill out naturally, like an instinct.
"Could you repeat what you just said in English?"
"Huh?" Junxi was taken aback.
Her self-introduction was a habit she couldn't change; could he really change his lines as the interviewer?
Zhou Xuanyu raised an eyebrow at her, thinking to himself, "I didn't expect this; it's like I'm giving you a backdoor."
Junxi suddenly understood; Zhou Xuanyu was agreeing that she could come to the office every day to keep him company.
She squinted her eyes, thinking, "Honey, I love you."
Zhou Xuanyu nodded.
"What's wrong? Can't do it?" An uninformed interviewer thought Mr. Zhou was deliberately making things difficult for Mrs. Zhou, quickly chiming in to help.
Zhou Xuanyu smiled.
Then, they heard her gentle yet powerful voice come through.
"On a hill is a tree, on a tree are boughs. My heart for the lord, but he never knows."
