Samir lifted the wine glass in his hand, swirling the amber liquid inside, the golden prosthetic fingertips reflecting a faint light. He slowly gazed at Ren with a playful smile playing at the corner of his mouth. 0

"Ren, what do you think," he said, his tone calm and rhythmic, "in your eyes, what are the fundamental differences between expert Mercenaries and those amateur Mercenaries?" 0

Ren was slightly surprised by the question and fell silent for a moment, taking a deep breath. Meanwhile, Samir remained calm and patient, as if the question was not just a casual inquiry, but more like a mental duel. 0

In Night City, such a question is not something a Mercenary can answer lightly. It involves a Mercenary's professional honor, abilities, and self-awareness. But for an expert like Ren, it was also an opportunity to demonstrate a well-considered answer to the Fixer. 0

Ren looked at Samir calmly, with a hint of determination in his eyes. His tone was steady, but his words were filled with profound strength. 0

"Samir, I've seen countless Mercenaries in my time, from green rookies to seasoned veterans," he began, tapping the table lightly with his fingers as if playing out his thoughts. "But truth be told, over the years I've found that the real difference between professionals and amateurs isn't the weapons they carry or the implants they have. Those are just external gear; to be honest, anyone can buy them if they have the money." 0

He paused for a moment and then continued, "The biggest difference between a professional Mercenary and an amateur Mercenary lies in determination. It's their serious attitude towards the mission, their steadfast pursuit of the goal, and their determination to complete the task. A true professional Mercenary does not retreat or give up in the face of difficulties because they know that the success of the mission often depends on that moment of determination." 0

"More specifically," Ren took a deep breath, "a true expert will have a deep determination, a determination to do things well no matter what difficulties arise. This kind of determination cannot be cultivated through ordinary training and experience; it requires a Mercenary to go through countless failures, pains, and adversities, and to continuously grow through them in order to truly develop it." 0

Samir nodded in agreement, then smiled slightly and said, "So, Ren, are you this kind of professional Mercenary to the core?" His tone was mixed with playfulness and seriousness, as if he wanted to get more information from Ren's response. 0

Ren tilted his head slightly and replied earnestly, "I guess so, after all, I always strive to complete each mission and do my best." 0

Samir listened and burst into laughter, filling the entire VIP room with his laughter. He said to Ren, "You, my friend, always take things seriously. But I like this attitude!" He then reached out and patted Ren's shoulder heavily. He continued, patting Ren's shoulder again firmly and said, "I have complete faith in your professionalism and abilities, never doubted it for a moment." 0

Samir took a deep breath, as if preparing to say something important. His gaze was fixed on Ren's eyes, as if trying to see into his soul. A slight playful smile appeared at the corner of his mouth. 0

"Ren, over the years I have seen countless Mercenaries, from green rookies to seasoned veterans, each with their own strengths and weaknesses," Samir said, as if the topic had stirred deep memories within him. His voice slowly lowered, "But you know what? In my opinion, the true difference between professional Mercenaries and amateur Mercenaries is not their weapons, skills, or physique." 0

He paused briefly, looking at the bottles on the bar, then continued, "It's their inner selves. Professional Mercenaries, their state of mind is like a calm lake, not easily disturbed by any wind or wave. They always make calm judgments, even when facing great risks, and can execute missions without hesitation, free from personal desires. On the other hand, those amateur Mercenaries often lose themselves in external stimuli and internal struggles, and therefore tend to make irrational choices." 0

Samir's smile gradually softened at the corners of his mouth as he looked at Ren and said, "And you, Ren, from the first time I saw you, I knew you were different. You have that special quality, that even in the face of great pressure, your inner self remains as calm as water. That is exactly the quality a professional Mercenary should possess." 0

He raised his glass towards Ren as a gesture of respect, "That's also why, every time there's an important mission, I always choose you first. Because I believe in you, I trust your calm and unwavering heart." 0

Ren gradually felt something unusual in Samir's long speech. They had known each other for many years, often worked together, and knew each other's personalities and habits well. Over the years, Ren had rarely seen Samir be so verbose, especially in important transactions. Samir was always straightforward, so why was he so wordy and evasive today? 0

After Samir finished speaking, Ren suddenly had a feeling of enlightenment. He took a deep breath, sat up straight, looked Samir firmly in the eyes, and then quickly leaned back on the sofa, placing his hands behind his head, with a hint of impatience on his face. 0

"Samir, we've known each other for so many years, you know what I hate the most," Ren said, with a hint of coldness in his voice, "You've been unusually talkative today, it seems like you're hiding something. Why don't you just tell me directly what you want to say. No need to beat around the bush." 0

Samir was shaken by Ren's words for a moment, feeling a little embarrassed, but quickly adjusted his mood. A bitter smile appeared at the corner of his mouth as he said, "It seems like you really understand me more and more. Well, I'll just say it directly." 0
