Le Yao Yao stepped out of the shabby room, taking in her surroundings under the bright moonlight.
She found herself in a row of houses. These were all single-story buildings, and in front of them lay an open space. To the left of the open area was a row of racks, currently adorned with various eunuch garments.
On the right stood a well, next to which were several stone benches.
The simplicity of this place was a stark contrast to the intricately carved beams and pavilions she had seen earlier that morning.
This clearly illustrated the difference between the poor and the wealthy!
It only intensified Le Yao Yao's desire to escape.
However, she also knew that with her current situation, escaping was impossible.
Firstly, she was completely broke; even if she managed to flee from here, where could she go?
Secondly, Duke Rui's Residence was vast, and there were surely many guards patrolling the area. The thought of escaping seemed utterly unrealistic!
So now, all she could do was wait.
She needed to gather some money and carefully observe her surroundings before attempting to slip away.
As Le Yao Yao pondered this, she suddenly realized that she had unknowingly left the servants' quarters and entered a beautifully landscaped courtyard filled with luxurious architecture.
The multi-storied buildings rose majestically, their intricate designs creating a stunning vista that stretched into the distance.
Under the night sky, the royal residence took on an air of mystery and charm, far more enchanting than during the day.
Seeing the ancient architecture bathed in moonlight for the first time filled Le Yao Yao with a sense of novelty. Gradually, the sorrow that had lingered in her heart began to dissipate without her even realizing it.
After all, Le Yao Yao had always been this way since she was a child.
Even if the sky were to fall, she would adapt to whatever came her way.
At that moment, she was completely captivated by the charming scenery before her, feeling as if she were a country bumpkin visiting the city for the first time, finding everything new and exciting.
However, as Le Yao Yao admired the beautiful surroundings, she gradually sensed something unusual.
After all, she had been here for quite some time—why was there not a single person in sight?
Although it was late at night and quiet, surely there would be someone on duty or something like that, right!?
Just as she pondered this, suddenly, a melodious whistle broke the stillness of the night.
The sound seemed like mist and smoke, ethereal and hauntingly beautiful, yet tinged with a lingering sadness…
In such an enchanting night, that whistle felt so melancholic that it stirred a sense of pity in anyone who heard it.
Who could be so heartbroken that they expressed their sorrow through such a haunting sound?
With these thoughts swirling in her mind, Le Yao Yao felt as if enchanted. She took one step after another toward the source of the whistle.
The moonlight was cool and gentle, enveloping the entire land and adding a touch of chill and beauty to the surroundings.
Ahead lay a beautifully designed garden.
To the left of the garden, various precious flowers were planted. The night breeze blew softly, carrying with it the rich fragrance of blossoms that filled the air.
On the right was a shimmering body of water known as Autumn Water Lake.
Under the moonlight, the surface of the lake radiated layers of silvery light, sparkling enchantingly.
On the lake stood a delicate and exquisite structure called the Jade Pavilion. The sound of music could be heard drifting from within.
Seeing this, Le Yao Yao couldn't help but slow her steps.
The Jade Pavilion was draped with veils, obscuring the view inside. She had no idea who was playing the flute within, so she hesitated to disturb them.
Instead, she found a clean patch of grass and quietly lay down beside it, resting her hands behind her head. She admired the captivating night sky while listening intently to the enchanting melody.
