Lin Xinghe took the USB drive, his fingers brushing against the cold metal casing before he solemnly placed it in his pocket. He nodded slightly, saying nothing more, and quickly left Su Qing's residence.
The night breeze brushed against his face, carrying a hint of chill that dispersed some of his inner agitation. Towering buildings flickered with neon lights in the night, standing like steel behemoths, silently observing the city's hustle and bustle.
Lin Xinghe glanced up at the deep night sky, a glimmer of determination flashing in his eyes. He immediately contacted Lei Zhen. When the call connected, Lei Zhen's rugged voice came through: "Xinghe, long time no see. How have you been?"
"I need your help," Lin Xinghe replied succinctly, skipping the pleasantries.
"What’s up? Just say it!"
"I need to leave Celestial Pivot Star for a while. Can you arrange it?"
"Sure thing! When do you need to go? Where to?" Lei Zhen responded readily.
"The sooner, the better. I’m heading to Canglan Star. Let’s meet at our usual spot." Lin Xinghe briefly explained the situation while omitting any mention of Su Qing and the origin of the USB drive.
"Got it. I'll arrange a Starship right away." Lei Zhen didn’t ask further questions; he understood Lin Xinghe's nature.
After ending the call, Lin Xinghe tucked the communicator back into his pocket and walked briskly toward the spacecraft parked not far away. He activated the vehicle, skillfully maneuvering it to avoid the tight surveillance set by the Gu Family throughout the city, silently leaving the confines of Celestial Pivot Star.
The tail of the spacecraft emitted a light blue flame, slicing through the night sky before vanishing into the vast sea of stars.
Meanwhile, upon receiving Lin Xinghe's message, Lei Zhen immediately gathered his subordinates and arranged for a small Starship to head to Celestial Pivot Star to pick up Lin Xinghe. Standing on the bridge, he gazed out at the twinkling starlight and said to his Deputy beside him, "Inform the brothers to prepare for departure; this mission is crucial."
"Yes, boss!" The Deputy promptly went to relay the orders.
Lei Zhen's Starship reached their designated meeting point at the outskirts of Celestial Pivot Star—a deserted space station—at top speed. Once a supply station for Interstellar Miners, it had long since fallen into disrepair and become a hub for gray market dealings.
Lin Xinghe's spacecraft docked steadily at the entrance of the space station. He stepped out and looked up at the dilapidated structure, a wave of nostalgia washing over him. This was where he first met Lei Zhen, marking the beginning of their friendship.
"Xinghe, over here!" Lei Zhen stood at the entrance, spotting Lin Xinghe from a distance. He waved his hand, signaling him to come over.
Lin Xinghe quickly walked up to Lei Zhen. "Thanks for your hard work, Lei Zhen."
"What are you talking about? We're brothers; there's no need to be so polite," Lei Zhen said, patting Lin Xinghe on the shoulder. "Let's go inside and talk."
The two entered the space station, which was dim and damp, with a metallic smell of rust lingering in the air.
Lei Zhen led Lin Xinghe to a relatively clean room filled with some basic equipment, where several technicians were busy at work.
Lin Xinghe handed a USB drive to a team member named Li Wei, who was skilled in network technology. "Li Wei, take a look at the contents of this."
Li Wei took the USB drive, plugged it into a device, and began analyzing the data.
The room fell silent except for the hum of the equipment running. Time passed slowly as Lin Xinghe and Lei Zhen waited patiently.
About an hour later, Li Wei looked up, removed his glasses, and rubbed his tired eyes.
His tone was serious as he said, "Boss, the analysis results are in."
