As Xu Nuan's words fell, everyone, whether spirited or weary, was left in a daze.
After a few seconds of silence, Deng Yinyin was the first to react, responding to Xu Nuan with evident resistance.
"You must be joking; there’s a limit to how far you can take a joke, and this isn’t funny at all."
Tang Jingshu didn’t even have time to stop Deng Yinyin from speaking to Xu Nuan in such a manner. From the rumors Tang Jingshu had heard, Xu Nuan was a gentle and well-liked person. Unfortunately, she hadn’t had the chance to befriend someone like Xu Nuan before they all ended up in the game.
Xu Nuan looked at the suddenly agitated Deng Yinyin with surprise, her expression serious.
"I never joke about such things. That person is named Dai Zhengyan; he’s a politician who died in the third round."
Deng Yinyin was instantly rendered speechless, retreating to one side and shooting an angry glare at Xu Nuan.
Gu Ze, although a technician at the company, was also perceptive enough to notice Deng Yinyin's inexplicable hostility toward Xu Nuan. He wanted to mediate the situation since they would all be traveling together afterward.
However, when Gu Ze turned to look at Xu Nuan, he noticed a fleeting glint of cunning in her eyes that left him momentarily stunned, causing him to forget what he intended to say.
This version of Xu Nuan finally connected with the person he remembered, but just as Gu Ze was about to confirm his suspicion, Xu Nuan reverted back to her previous demeanor, leaving him with no choice but to drop it.
After another day of this lukewarm interaction, the group following the Special Tree finally arrived at the Supply Station that Xu Nuan had mentioned. It resembled an oversized gazebo with white walls covered in green vines, as if it had merged with the surrounding jungle.
Except for Xu Nuan, the others entered with anxious hearts. Upon pushing open the door, they were greeted by a dazzling array of items—specifically those found in the Supply Station's Storage Room, which stood wide open.
From tents and sleeping bags to moisture-proof mats and backpacks, from water bottles and cooking pots to folding knives; there were also tactical jackets, quick-dry clothes, gaiters, climbing ropes, jerky, candies, and compressed biscuits available for exchange.
While the Supply Station appeared ample, it also featured a bathroom where one could shower and a large upright freezer that turned out to be empty upon inspection. Additionally, there was a Storage Room filled with items and a moderately sized lounge area.
In both the lounge and Storage Room as well as the common area, there were some oddly placed paintings on the walls. The scenes depicted varied: one showed a red umbrella in a gray downpour; another featured strange patterns made up of irregular elongated shapes; yet another displayed two hands crossing each other while holding short knives.
Deng Yinyin and Tang Jingshu quickly picked out suitable clothes and rushed into the bathroom. Xu Hang and Xie Huai silently prepared the items they would need for the next Survival Game. Gu Ze's gaze fell on the shelf stocked with medical supplies.
The medical supplies at this Game Base were well-prepared, containing everything needed in the wild. From Antidote, Heart Rescue Oil, Burn Ointment, and Fever Reducers to Hemostatic Patches, Hydrogen Peroxide, Bandages, and Cotton Balls, there was even a vacuum toxin extractor.
Gu Ze carefully examined everything but found no materials that could be used to make explosives. So where did Xu Nuan's pack of explosives come from, and what was it originally intended for?
As soon as Xu Nuan entered, she skillfully grabbed a bottle of glucose and a syringe, starting an intravenous drip for herself with practiced ease.
"Have you learned this before?" Gu Ze stepped forward.
Perhaps it was because they were alumni that she felt comfortable talking to him. Xu Nuan glanced up at Gu Ze and nodded.
"One of the Second Batch Players is a nurse; I learned some things from her."
She then cast a casual glance at Xu Hang, who was still preparing his backpack.
"The next stage is the desert; prepare some suitable supplies."
"How do you know that?"
Xie Huai asked in confusion. Following Xu Nuan's gaze, he noticed a wall at the Supply Station with a green door above which flashed five words on an LCD screen.
Illusory Desert.
"Why add the word 'Illusory' before 'Desert'?"
Xie Huai continued to express his confusion.
"According to the hints, this is the way to pass."
Xu Nuan looked up at the IV drip, contemplating whether she should increase the speed.
It was Xu Hang, who had been silent, that finally spoke up.
"Are you saying that when we push open this door, we'll find ourselves in a desert?"
Xu Nuan maintained her upward gaze.
"Although it sounds like something out of a sci-fi movie, that's exactly how it is. This Game Base is quite extraordinary."
While Xu Nuan believed that modern technology couldn't possibly create an environment where jungles, deserts, swamps, and more coexisted on a single island, she had no other explanation for the scene before them.
Once everyone had taken a shower, changed into clean clothes, rested enough, and gathered their belongings, they all stood in front of the green door. None of them knew what dangers awaited them beyond it.
As Gu Ze's hand rested on the doorknob, Xu Nuan suddenly spoke up.
"From this point onward, I won't be joining you all in clearing the levels."
