After hearing Deng Yinyin's words, Gu Ze narrowed his eyes, remaining silent, while Xie Huai was already softly comforting Deng Yinyin beside him.
Gu Ze's silence was, for Deng Yinyin, a sign that he was contemplating the credibility of her words. This made her feel dissatisfied, and she immediately turned to Xu Hang with a pitiful expression.
"I think the zombies might be out because the Luminous Pearl has been taken. We should hurry and return it."
Xu Hang looked at Deng Yinyin with an expression of satisfaction and admiration for the first time. "You're right in your analysis."
However, before Xu Hang could say anything further, Gu Ze quickly interjected.
"You two go return the Luminous Pearl. I'll go find Nuan and use that hall as our meeting point."
Without waiting for anyone's reaction, Gu Ze turned to Deng Yinyin, his voice low. "Where did you all originally separate?"
Deng Yinyin paused, still feeling wronged, her voice choked. "I don't remember. This place is like a maze; I don't even know how I got here."
Gu Ze frowned slightly. "Forget it, I'll find it myself. You all stay here."
Seeing Gu Ze turn to leave, Deng Yinyin, who had just been tearful, immediately grabbed his hand. After being ruthlessly shaken off by Gu Ze, she looked at him with teary eyes.
"Aren't you coming with us to return the Luminous Pearl? I don't know the way."
Why did this man, who was always warm and polite with a smile, seem like a different person when it came to Xu Nuan? He radiated a dark aura.
No, this dark and ruthless side wasn't the real Gu Ze. She wanted to see the gentle Gentleman Gu Ze from before; surely without Xu Nuan, this man would return to his former self.
No one knew what Deng Yinyin was really thinking; they only saw her usually vibrant self now appearing so fragile and pitiful. At the same time, Xie Huai and Xu Hang also expressed their concerns.

"I'll go find her. You take those two back to the Luminous Pearl. And if the Zombie stops moving earlier, she will be safer."
Xu Hang was concise; he knew that as long as he highlighted the importance of the situation and how it would benefit Xu Nuan, Gu Ze would agree. After all, years of friendship were not for nothing.
Gu Ze fell silent for a moment before nodding and adding, "Make sure to find her. We'll wait for you in the hall."
"Leave the direction to me."
Xu Hang nodded seriously and turned to leave first.
Gu Ze had no choice but to lead Deng Yinyin and Xie Huai toward the place he remembered.
Along the way, Deng Yinyin tried to strike up a conversation with Gu Ze. Her words revolved around how difficult it had been for her to reach that high platform, how she had evaded the Zombie, and how terrified she felt as a woman in such a situation.
Gu Ze did not respond; he occasionally glanced at her and Xie Huai, seemingly listening while also confirming that they were keeping up.
Of course, Gu Ze walked quickly, showing no consideration for Deng Yinyin, who had just escaped from a fright and was slightly out of breath.
It was hard to believe that he used to be such a gentle and understanding person. How had he changed into someone so authoritative? Though somewhat domineering, his attitude of looking down on others was truly infuriating.
Deng Yinyin felt very dissatisfied. Aware that she should display some pride, she stopped engaging with Gu Ze and instead spoke to Xie Huai in a condescending tone. Xie Huai appeared flattered by her attention.
Gu Ze indeed paid little attention to Deng Yinyin's words; his mind was consumed by thoughts of the missing Xu Nuan.
What words could possibly describe such feelings?
Perhaps it was unease and guilt.
A person's soul is always filled with various traits, yet he had no time to ponder what those traits might be. He was deeply entangled in the essence of that woman.
He thought he wasn't too deeply involved, that they could work as a team, occasionally using their momentum to pressure her or deliberately provoking her by targeting her weaknesses, hoping to see her light brown eyes reflect the colors he favored.
He believed this was a shallow entanglement, reveling in such daily interactions.
Then he and that woman became allies.
A woman with many flaws and many strengths, he enjoyed using those flaws to provoke her, watching her reactions. He silently admired her strengths, unconsciously magnifying them in his mind.
Ah, this version of himself was becoming somewhat unrecognizable.
The words of Buddy echoed in his ears repeatedly.
"When you are drawn to someone's soul and are unsure how far you can go, should you draw closer or keep your distance? When that person is not around, what will you be like? At that moment, you should have your answer."
Yes, he should have an answer regarding that occasionally dull yet sometimes sharp-witted woman.
She allowed him to hold her close, relishing in his childhood embarrassments while also softening enough to seek comfort from him.
It was true that he feared spiders, but how could that woman not imagine it? How could she not consider how a grown man could be afraid to such an extent?
Yet she still found amusement in it, laughing heartily.
When he realized that this person was worried about herself and smiling for her own sake, fireworks exploded in his mind, while his heart had long since turned into a sea of flowers.
That embrace was so warm, just like her name. She was someone who could bring warmth even in winter, someone you would never want to let go once you held her.

Gu Ze chuckled lightly, his expression somewhat strange. Deng Yinyin immediately stopped talking to Xie Huai and nervously asked Gu Ze, "Did you think of something happy?"
Gu Ze shook his head without looking at Deng Yinyin and quickened his pace.
Deng Yinyin pouted but still followed him, while Xie Huai walked dejectedly at the back.
They encountered no zombies along the way and reached the hall without any obstacles.
The hall looked the same, except it was dimmer without the Luminous Pearl. For some reason, the base of the Luminous Pearl was vibrating continuously, leading them to suspect that it was this very vibration that caused the zombies to start moving.
To be safe, it was Xie Huai who took the Luminous Pearl, so it would be Xie Huai who returned it.
"Here, for you."
Deng Yinyin reluctantly handed the Luminous Pearl to Xie Huai, but in her heart, she thought that if the Luminous Pearl was returned and the Zombie didn't stop moving, she might as well take the Luminous Pearl with her. After all, such a good item would be useless left here.
Xie Huai held the Luminous Pearl reverently and placed it on the green satin that had not fallen off despite all the shaking.
The moment the Luminous Pearl was set down, the platform stopped vibrating.

Gu Ze walked out.
"Hmph."
Deng Yinyin pouted, standing in place, her eyes darting around as if she were plotting something.
Xie Huai awkwardly tugged at his clothes, feeling a bit cold but unsure of what to say.
After a short while, Gu Ze returned, bringing with him some good news.
"The Zombies have stopped moving. We just need to wait here."
Deng Yinyin's joy at Gu Ze's return quickly turned to disappointment; that meant they couldn't take the Luminous Pearl after all.
Now, the three of them were left waiting in the hall.
The Luminous Pearl emitted a green glow, casting the entire hall in shades of green. Strangely, they felt that the green was much better than the red they had seen in the cave. Although it was sinister, it didn't evoke fear.
Unexpectedly, the group fell into silence, and time became difficult to endure.
There was no way to tell how long had passed. Gu Ze was in constant agony. He believed in Xu Hang and Xu Nuan; to avoid missing them, he had no choice but to keep waiting.
After an indeterminate amount of time had passed, Deng Yinyin and Xie Huai could no longer sit still and began to complain and speculate.
"What’s going on? Why haven’t they come back yet?"
"Exactly, this is taking way too long!"
Amid their alternating complaints, Gu Ze stood up and slung his backpack over his shoulder.
"Go find them, waiting is useless."
Gu Ze said this expressionlessly, and Deng Yinyin didn't dare to interject any further. She exchanged a glance with Xie Huai, then grabbed her backpack and followed.
As they retraced their steps, they encountered many Zombies, but these Zombies had stopped moving, as if they were still sleeping in the undercurrents of the pond. However, their smiling faces were still quite frightening.
It was unclear how Gu Ze managed to remember the way, but he accurately navigated through the chaotic caves back to the spot where he had rescued Deng Yinyin.
Then Gu Ze chose another direction and continued walking, while the other two acted as amplifiers behind him, continuously calling out Xu Hang and Xu Nuan's names.
While searching, Gu Ze suddenly felt his Tail Ring vibrating. Before he could press the button to check, an alarm sounded.
In a hurry, Gu Ze opened the screen and saw that the locator had picked up a signal. Besides the three of them, there were two other points; one had turned red and was shaking continuously, while the other was dim, uncertain if it was turned off or simply out of signal range.
The three of them now had a tacit understanding and ran towards the direction of the flashing red dot.
Who did that red dot represent? Who was in danger?
Xu Hang? Or Xu Nuan?
