However, with Tan Xiaodong's reminder, I suddenly remembered that there really was such a thing.
I smiled at Tan Feng, "So, the reason you had a nosebleed back then was because you saw me..."
I hesitated to finish my sentence, but everyone understood.
Tan Feng's face turned crimson as he gently nodded, "Yeah."
Tan Xiaodong burst into laughter, "My uncle is such an innocent guy!"
I couldn't help but laugh at the two of them, "You guys are really..."
Throughout breakfast, laughter filled the air.
After we finished eating, Tan Feng asked Tan Xiaodong to go buy drinks. I thought for a moment and said, "I'll go instead."
"Don't move," Tan Feng said as he stood up and handed some money to Tan Xiaodong, sending him off to buy drinks.
Tan Xiaodong took the money and ran off, while Tan Feng suddenly moved closer and sat down beside me.
He leaned in, and a warm breath enveloped me.
I looked up at him and found his gaze intensely fixed on my lips.
I cleared my throat lightly, "What are you doing?"
Tan Feng chuckled softly and leaned closer to whisper in my ear, "I've wanted to kiss you for a long time."
Before I could respond, he leaned in and kissed me.
His kiss was fierce yet gentle, filled with passion and tenderness.
I felt breathless from the kiss until he finally pulled away slowly.
Leaning against his shoulder, I gasped for air.
At that moment, I suddenly heard a burst of laughter.
I straightened up abruptly and turned to see Tan Xiaodong covering his mouth as he stifled his laughter.
"You..." My face turned bright red as I pushed Tan Feng away, "What are you doing?"
Tan Xiaodong laughed, "I didn't see anything!"
With that, he turned and ran off.
Tan Feng smiled as he pulled me into his embrace and kissed me again. This time, he blocked Tan Xiaodong's line of sight with his hand. We shared a deep kiss in the corner of the restaurant, bathed in the gentle morning light, in a world filled with love.
If I had known that one day I would be loved by Tan Feng like this, I would have posed more dramatically in front of that old Santana, wearing cooler dresses to catch his attention. But then again, if I hadn't acted so playfully, perhaps Tan Feng wouldn't have fallen for me at all. After all, he liked me just the way I was.
Since we confirmed our relationship, Tan Feng and I have been like a perfect match. Our personalities are similar, our hobbies align, and even our favorite movies and music are the same. Sometimes, when I look at Tan Feng, it feels like I'm looking at another version of myself. That feeling is truly wonderful. I think this might be the unspoken connection we share.
That night, Tan Feng sent me a message: "Actually, I've liked you for a long time. I noticed you the first time you took a selfie in that old Santana."
"You were really beautiful back then."
"You have no idea how much I bled from my nose when I saw you in that red spaghetti strap dress."
I laughed at his message. "So that's why you had a nosebleed?"
"What else could it be?" Tan Feng replied with an exasperated emoji.
"I can't just tell you it's because you looked so beautiful in your selfie that I started bleeding, right?"
I laughed heartily. "You can say that now."
"Now..." Tan Feng replied with just those two words, leaving me hanging.
I waited for a while before he finally sent another message: "Now, I want to bleed even more."
What on earth was going through his mind?
But thinking it over, I seemed to understand what he meant.
I teased him on purpose, "You want to bleed? Next time you do, let me know and I'll hand you some tissues."
Seeing his speechless expression made me laugh even harder.
I thought, this must be the most beautiful aspect of love.
Mutual affection and cherishing each other.
Being able to freely show our truest selves and laugh like children in front of one another.
I believe this is the best form of love.
