An hour later, except for Shunzi, all of us were dressed and ready to go. The fishing boat had arrived at the location I specified, and all the sailors were extremely excited, full of energy. However, they were unaware that a greater danger awaited them. This time was different; to deal with unexpected events and dangers, Mai Lao had instructed each of us to hold a Spear and a flashlight.
Just before we set off, Mai Lao surprisingly gave a motivational speech. With great enthusiasm, he said, "Everyone, we have found the location of the Ming Dynasty Shipwreck. As long as you all put in some effort and retrieve the Wreck as soon as possible, I promise you will never have to go out to sea again. You can live the rest of your lives in peace."
After Mai Lao finished speaking, the sailors erupted in excitement. It seemed that their interest in treasure hunting always outweighed their concern for safety. Jiao Ba and I exchanged glances, both feeling helpless because only the two of us knew that things were not as they seemed. Even if we managed to retrieve the Wreck, it didn’t guarantee that we would find any so-called treasure; these sailors might end up as cannon fodder.
Soon after, we began to enter the water. We lined up in a row and quickly moved toward the underwater area. This time, Mai Lao had me lead the team since I was the only one who knew where that dark sea region was located. The sun was already setting, and we needed to find the Wreck before it disappeared from sight.
About ten minutes later, we reached the seabed. The deep sea was still a deep shade of blue. I signaled everyone to follow me as Jiao Ba and I led the way. Thanks to the abundance of Underwater Light, we could see our surroundings clearly. Fortunately, we didn’t encounter any sharks; everything went smoothly.
After about half an hour of swimming, I finally saw that dark sea area again. Jiao Ba and Mai Lao looked astonished upon seeing it, while the other sailors also stopped in their tracks. That area of water still exuded an eerie hue.
Mai Lao nudged me and gestured with his hands, "Is this it?"
I nodded and pointed ahead, indicating, "It’s very dangerous here; everyone should be careful when entering."
Mike waved his hand, signaling the other sailors to move forward. I realized that this Old Man didn’t take my words seriously at all. I couldn’t be bothered to argue with him anymore; Jiao Ba and I were the first to enter that dark sea area.
This place felt similar to what I had encountered before. As Jiao Ba and I swam into this dark region, I could clearly feel the temperature dropping rapidly. The seawater became increasingly bone-chilling; it was so cold that I was shivering uncontrollably. Jiao Ba and Mai Lao were no better; they crossed their arms as soon as they entered because the icy water was unbearable for anyone.
Once inside this area, I stopped first. After surveying with my Underwater Light, I gestured to Mai Lao, "It’s very dangerous here; there are potentially lethal creatures around. Everyone should be cautious."
Mai Lao nodded and then relayed the message to the other sailors. This time, he did not hide anything but spoke the truth. Upon receiving the news, every sailor became highly focused. Although Mai Lao warned them of the dangers ahead, they remained undeterred, driven by the allure of wealth and treasure.
As I entered this dark sea, I felt an oppressive silence that was incredibly uncomfortable. This area of water was just as I had encountered before; once inside, it felt as if the entire sea had suddenly calmed, like a mirror with not a ripple in sight. In this eerie expanse, aside from some marine plankton, there was nothing else to be seen—no fish at all.
Jiao Ba was observing around us with an underwater light, just like I was. I nudged him and gestured, 'Be aware of everything around us; it's very dangerous here.'
Jiao Ba responded seriously with an okay gesture, his spear always ready to strike. Mai Lao showed no reaction; like the other sailors, he was waiting for my signal. I observed for over ten minutes without daring to make a move.
I had no idea when the creature that killed Landmine would appear. The unknown terror weighed heavily on me; even when facing the Coffin Corpse, I had never felt this level of tension. At times, I even questioned myself—was this all just a figment of my imagination?
Seeing that I remained still, Mai Lao patted my arm and gestured, 'Are you okay?'
I finally returned to my usual demeanor, forcing a smile as I gestured back, 'I'm fine; let's keep moving.'
I then signaled everyone to continue forward. There is strength in numbers; if I had entered this sea alone, I would have been scared out of my wits by now. But with so many people behind me providing support, I felt braver—if we were to die, we would die together.
Leading the way with my light held high, I kept an eye on everything happening around us. Jiao Ba was even more meticulous than I was; he didn’t miss a single corner of the seabed. After experiencing several life-and-death situations, Jiao Ba seemed to have matured significantly and learned to use his abilities to protect himself.
Throughout our journey, we encountered no sign of that unknown creature nor any strange occurrences. I found it puzzling why my first entry with Landmine had nearly cost me my life while now everything felt so calm—so different from what I had described.
We continued forward in this dark sea, which was eerily quiet. This silence made me uneasy; it was too terrifyingly quiet. I could hardly feel the presence of water around me or hear any sounds at all—it felt like a dream. The eight of us concentrated all our underwater lights ahead, which made this dark sea appear somewhat illuminated.
Just as my thoughts began to wander, I suddenly stopped in my tracks. I was completely stunned by what lay before me; in fact, it could be said that I was frightened because before me stood a massive ancient shipwreck.
The grandeur of the Wreck was far greater than the Qing Dynasty Shipwreck we had salvaged before. Holding the Underwater Light, I stood there in a daze, taking in everything before me. It wasn't just me; even Jiao Ba and Mai Lao were equally astonished, as were all of us, captivated by the sight.
However, deep down, I felt a surge of joy because I had indeed guessed correctly. In this dark expanse of ocean, we had found the Wreck we had been searching for all along. I glanced at Jiao Ba and Mai Lao; both wore expressions of excitement. After so many days at sea, our efforts had finally paid off, and we had discovered what we had been seeking.
Mai Lao wasted no time. He gathered us together and simply instructed, "Everyone split up and regroup here in half an hour."
The eight of us began to explore the Wreck separately. I teamed up with Jiao Bayi, starting our journey from the stern of the ship. To be honest, this Wreck brought me not only unexpected surprises but also hinted at many secrets yet to be uncovered...
