I returned along the same route with Jiao Ba, both of us marching in a single file, cautious and alert. My Spear was always ready for action, while Jiao Ba's Underwater Light swept back and forth, scanning for any signs of that creature lurking in the shadows. I couldn't shake the feeling that it was watching us from some hidden corner.
To be honest, I felt uneasy throughout the journey, my mind constantly on high alert. The memory of Landmine's death was still fresh in my mind. I knew very well that the creature was beyond our capabilities to handle; just the two of us could never defeat it. Our only option was to minimize the danger as much as possible.
Fortunately, we were lucky to make it back. After about ten minutes, we finally reached the meeting point where Mai Lao and the other sailors had already returned. Seeing Jiao Ba and me arrive late, Mai Lao gestured and asked, "Why so slow? Did something happen?"
I gestured back, saying, "It's not safe to talk here. Let's head back."
Mai Lao nodded and signaled for everyone to return to the fishing boat, following the same route as before. However, this time I quickened our pace. Jiao Ba and I led the way swiftly while Mai Lao and the other sailors followed closely behind.
As we broke free from the Dark Sea Area, I gradually relaxed my pace, feeling the fear within me begin to dissipate.
We then started our ascent. When we broke through the surface of the water, I felt a renewed sense of life. The sun was nearing its end, and twilight was approaching. Jenny dropped the Lifeline as soon as she saw us surface, and all eight of us climbed up one after another.
Once we were back on the boat, Shunzi was the first to come over and support me. "Brother Yi, are you okay?"
I shook my head weakly and replied, "I'm fine."
Jenny eagerly asked, "How is everyone? Is everyone alright?"
"All good," Mai Lao said as he removed his Oxygen Tank, panting heavily.
"Great! Did you find the Wreck?" Jenny asked with anticipation.
Mai Lao nodded and replied, "Yes, we found it. Just as Loyalty and Righteousness said, the Wreck is indeed in that dark sea area."
"Really? That's great! Finally, we found it! How big is this Wreck?" Jenny's face lit up with excitement, almost bursting into a dance. Li Xin, standing beside her, shot her cold glances, not bothering to offer even a single word of concern. The more he looked at her, the more he found her insufferable—she was like a cold-blooded creature.
"It's quite large, but I'm not exactly sure how big. It must be significantly larger than the Qing Dynasty Shipwreck," Mai Lao said as he began to take off his Diving Suit.
I chimed in, "This Wreck is at least one hundred forty meters long. I haven't checked the width of the deck yet, but estimating, it should be around forty to fifty meters."
Once I finished speaking, Jenny looked astonished and exclaimed, "It's that big? It seems we've found the main ship this time!"
"Main ship? What do you mean?" Shunzi asked, confused.
Jiao Ba grinned and explained, "If this is indeed a Wreck from the early Ming Dynasty, then it should be one of the main vessels from Zheng He's maritime expeditions."
"Yes, Jiao Ba is right. During the early Ming Dynasty, such large ships were primarily used for maritime voyages," Jenny added earnestly.
After removing my gear, I complained slightly, "Alright, enough of this. Let's eat quickly; I'm starving! We can discuss this after dinner."
Jenny glanced at me and chuckled, "Heh, why are you always thinking about food?"
"Come on! We went down to work, not for sightseeing. Of course we're tired! Besides, it's a miracle we made it back alive; we almost didn't!" I stretched my cold body to get my blood circulating again.
"Loyalty and Righteousness, did something happen between you and Jiao Ba?" Mai Lao asked with a puzzled look.
I took the towel from Shunzi's hand and wiped the seawater off my face. "Let's talk about it after dinner; I'm really hungry." Without waiting for a response, I turned and headed toward the resting quarters. I didn't have time to waste chatting; right now, I needed to rest as much as possible. These issues wouldn't be resolved in just a day or two.
Ever since we salvaged the Qing Dynasty Shipwreck, one problem after another had arisen. Who was that man in black? Where did Bearded Man's subordinates go? Jiao Ba and I still hadn't figured it out. Now we were facing these new challenges—how could my head not ache? This dive felt like a narrow escape; that ghostly thing hadn't attacked us this time, but if we went down again, luck might not be on our side.
I returned to the rest chamber and calmed my frayed nerves. Jiao Ba walked in and asked me, "Brother Yi, what exactly did you see underwater?"
I glanced at him, my tone heavy as I replied, "I don't know what that thing was; it was just a shadow. But the death of Landmine last time was definitely due to that shadow."
Jiao Ba's face turned pale as he said, "No wonder you were so anxious. So what should we do now?"
"Damn it, how would I know what to do? If I knew, I wouldn't be so scared. It's just one problem after another. Forget it; let's leave it to fate," I cursed helplessly.
At that moment, Shunzi called us over for dinner. After we finished eating, we gathered in Jenny's rest chamber to discuss the wreck. Jenny spoke first, asking, "Mai Lao, are you confident you can salvage the ship?"
"It's hard to say. Today we only got a rough idea. If we want to salvage it, we'll need to thoroughly survey the wreck first. From what I saw today, the damage isn't obvious, but it could also be that I didn't observe closely enough. After all, this wreck is enormous, and we didn't have enough time back then, so we had to come back," Mai Lao said calmly while adjusting his glasses.
Jenny nodded lightly and seemed to be talking to herself when she said, "With such a large ship, salvaging it won't be easy. By the way, Mai Lao, can we confirm that this is indeed the Ming Dynasty Shipwreck?"
Mai Lao frowned and replied, "It's still too early to say. However, based on the location shown on the nautical chart and the size of the hull, it should be a wreck from the early Ming Dynasty. In ancient times, only the Ming Dynasty could have built such a large vessel."
At that moment, Jiao Ba suddenly interjected, "Yes, Mai Lao is right. But if we want to confirm whether it's really the Ming Dynasty Shipwreck, we'll have to enter the cabin and check it out. Then we'll know if it's a ship from Zheng He's era and what kind of vessel it is—whether it's the legendary treasure ship or just some cargo ship."
