The white plankton suddenly accelerated, and at first, I didn't think much of it. However, when we were less than ten meters away from the wreck, I realized that these white plankton seemed to be intentionally approaching us, as if they knew where we were headed and were trying to stop us.
I quickly gestured for everyone to halt. Jiao Ba and I stopped first, and the other two sailors reacted swiftly, coming to a stop as well. The four of us floated motionless in the water like statues. Once we paused, the white plankton returned to their original behavior, sometimes slow, sometimes fast, without any apparent purpose.
I turned and used the underwater light to look around. Mai Lao and his team had already disappeared; it seemed they had successfully reached the wreck. Since they could make it through, we should be fine too. I glanced at Jiao Ba, shook my head slightly, indicating that we should continue moving forward.
Jiao Ba nodded and waved his hand. We prepared to advance quickly again. At first, everything was fine; the plankton didn’t react much. But as soon as we began to accelerate, those white plankton started rushing toward us again. For safety's sake, I immediately signaled everyone to stop.
I had no idea whether these creatures posed a threat to us. If they were just ordinary plankton, that would be one thing; but if they were toxic, once that poison entered our bodies in this abyssal depth, we would surely die.
After we stopped again, those creatures returned to their previous state. I was genuinely confused about what these white, elongated beings were. I had seen plenty of plankton before, but none resembled these. When we moved, they moved; when we stopped, they stopped.
I gestured to Jiao Ba and asked, "What are these things?"
Jiao Ba gestured back, "They should be some kind of organism."
Great, that was no different from saying nothing at all. I continued signaling him and asked, "What should we do now?"
After a long wait, Jiao Ba finally responded. He looked at me and gestured again, "Slow down and move through slowly."
I thought for a moment; it seemed that was the only option left. We had to try it out—if we kept stalling like this, our oxygen would run low soon.
I hurriedly signaled everyone to slow down our march. The four of us moved at the slowest pace, inching closer to the Wreck. As Jiao Ba had predicted, once we reduced our speed, those white ghostly entities showed no reaction, continuing to float aimlessly.
There were many of these white creatures. Jiao Ba gestured for us to steer clear of them. We began to ascend slowly above the Wreck, and after avoiding those ghostly beings, we gradually descended again. When we finally passed completely over this group of white Plankton, I realized that they were not close to the Wreck at all. Initially, I thought they were swimming around the Wreck, but as we got closer, I could see that there was a certain distance between them and the Wreck. They merely circled it like guardians, which left me puzzled.
At that moment, Jiao Ba indicated that we could speed up again. The four of us quickly dove down underwater, heading straight for the bow of the Wreck. The outline of the Wreck became increasingly clear—its sails, bow, and deck were all visible. Each time I saw the Wreck, it evoked different feelings in me, and this time was no exception. Looking down from above made me feel as if I were in outer space.
I felt a surge of excitement; perhaps the mystery was about to be unraveled. I glanced at Jiao Bayi, who gave me an "okay" gesture. It seemed he shared my sentiments. I even forgot that there was an Unknown Creature in these waters that could threaten our lives.
Instead of heading directly to the deck at the bow, we descended to the bottom of the Wreck to thoroughly assess its damage. Although Mai Lao repeatedly warned us to ensure safety and stick together, our Oxygen Tank was running low. To save time, we had to split up into pairs for exploration while ensuring safety by pairing up. We agreed to regroup here in twenty minutes.
Naturally, I teamed up with Jiao Bayi. We started our exploration around the left side of the bow. This Wreck was enormous; just exploring the bow alone was enough for us. The massive structure resembled a monster sleeping on the ocean floor, and I often felt an illusion that if we woke this 'beast,' it might take our lives in an instant.
After more than twenty minutes of exploration with Jiao Balang, using our Underwater Light, we could clearly see that there was no significant damage on the left side of the bow; in fact, it appeared quite intact. I even touched it several times with my hands.
However, each time I did so, a chilling cold surged through me, making me shiver uncontrollably. Yet I was willing to probe further because it was all too strange; this supernatural phenomenon always piqued my curiosity.
Once we finished inspecting the left side of the bow, Jiao Ba and I began returning to our predetermined meeting point. When we reached the center of the bow of the Wreck, the other two sailors had not yet returned. Jiao Ba and I had no choice but to wait patiently. Before long, those two sailors swam back toward us.
I gestured and asked, "How did it go? Any findings?"
One of them gestured back, "There’s a large gap on the right side."
"What? A gap?" I exchanged glances with Jiao Ba. This was quite the news. I quickly urged them to lead the way so we could check it out. The four of us swiftly made our way toward the lower right side of the ship's bow. As we neared the seabed, one of the sailors pointed ahead, and then Underwater Light followed along.
It was then that I saw it. Below the right side of the ship's bow, there was indeed a large gap. When we reached the front of the gap, I was stunned by the sight before me. This gap was not just any ordinary size; standing in front of it made me feel quite small, as if I were facing a cave within a great mountain. Looking down, I realized this was only part of the gap; another section was already buried beneath the seabed silt.
The Wreck was deeply submerged in sediment, with nearly half of its right side buried beneath the seabed. I shone my Underwater Light into the gap, but it was dark inside, and I couldn't see anything clearly. Just as I was about to venture in for a closer look, Jiao Ba suddenly grabbed my arm and gestured for me to stop. "Don't go in yet; there might be danger inside."
I realized I had been a bit careless. It was pitch black in there, and I couldn't see what kind of creatures might lurk within. If there were any monsters or water spirits, I would be in serious trouble. At that moment, I glanced at my Oxygen Tank; there wasn't much air left. I quickly signaled for everyone to return to our original location. Mai Lao and the others might have already gone back; we needed to hurry…
