I could hardly believe what I was seeing. The cabin was filled with bodies sprawled in disarray. Slowly, I stood up and used my lighter to illuminate the surroundings. The ground was soaked in blood, a thick scent of it assaulting my senses. 0

Among the fallen were Mai Lao, Li Xin, Jenny, and everyone else. They lay twisted on the ground, each one covered in blood, their wounds stark against their skin. What had happened here? How had it come to this? 0

I rushed over to Jenny, cradling her in my arms as I softly called out, "Jenny, Jenny, wake up. Please wake up." She lay still, a wound on her neck oozing blood that stained my clothes. 0

Her body felt cold. I reached down to check for breath beneath her nose; there was none. It seemed she had already passed away. My heart ached painfully, a wave of tears threatening to spill over, but more than that, I felt an overwhelming surge of hatred and anger. 0

Holding Jenny tightly, tears welled in my eyes. I wanted revenge—I had to have revenge. I fought back the pain and gently laid her down. 0

In my heart, I prayed to God that someone might still be alive. One by one, I checked each person, but sadly, Mai Lao, Li Xin, and everyone else present were all dead. 0

Every breath had ceased; their stiff bodies told the whole story. In just a short hour, they had all perished together. 0

A burning fire ignited in my chest. These people who had once fought alongside me were now nothing but cold corpses. Who did this? Who was responsible? I would find them; I would make them pay—I would tear them apart piece by piece. 0

I clenched my fists, trembling violently as my teeth chattered. Tears began to silently stream down my face, burning against my skin and leaving my heart restless. The last time I cried was for the death of a comrade; now it felt like history repeating itself. 0

I slapped my face to regain some composure; it wasn’t time to lose control yet. I carefully examined the scene but found no useful clues. 0

The perpetrator had left no traces behind; there were no signs of struggle or murder weapons present. No fingerprints or footprints remained—this was nearly a flawless execution. 0

This person must have been experienced; their methods were clean and efficient—each victim dispatched with a single blow. Every neck bore severe lacerations, a level of brutality that was simply appalling. 0

Looking at the lifeless bodies of my comrades filled me with indescribable sorrow and pain. In my heart, I silently vowed to avenge them. No matter who was responsible for this atrocity, I would capture them myself and ensure they suffered a thousand deaths. 0

As I wiped away my tears and turned to leave, I suddenly noticed an important clue: it seemed someone was missing—Shunzi was not here. 0

I suddenly turned around, hurriedly checking again, but the result was the same: Shunzi was indeed not here. My mind buzzed—could it be that he was the one who killed these people? 0

I recalled what Jiao Ba had said before; he had always suspected Shunzi was the mastermind behind it all. At first, I vehemently refuted him, unwilling to believe it could be true. 0

But now? The facts lay before me: everyone on the ship had been murdered, yet he alone had vanished. Didn't that say it all? He had cruelly slaughtered our companions and now fled without a trace. 0

That beast, that bastard—how could he do this? Was he even human? A raging fire burned in my chest. Once, he was my best friend, my closest brother, but now he had transformed into a veritable demon, a blood-soaked beast. 0

Anger surged through my mind; I lost my usual calmness. The bond of brotherhood had disintegrated along with everything else. Now, all I felt for him was hatred, a desire to strip his skin and pull out his tendons. 0

Just as my fury peaked, I suddenly heard faint footsteps coming from the passageway. Someone was there. I quickly exited the storage room and began searching in the direction of the sound. 0

As I neared the rest cabin, a figure flashed past me at lightning speed, darting out of the cabin before I could even catch a glimpse of his back. 0

"Who is it?" I shouted as I sprinted after him, but by the time I burst out of the cabin, the figure had already disappeared. 0

I knew he must have jumped into the sea since there was nowhere to hide at the bow of the ship. Standing at the edge of the vessel and using the moonlight, I began searching for traces of this person. Sure enough, there was someone on the sea surface, swimming rapidly toward Bearded Man's fishing boat. 0

This person's speed was astonishing; he was almost catching up to the fish in the water. His silhouette looked so familiar—he resembled the black-clad man from before. By this time, he had reached Bearded Man's fishing boat and seemed poised to climb aboard. 0

Suddenly, a signal flashed from Bearded Man's boat; a flashlight flickered urgently. It was Jiao Ba sending an emergency signal. I almost forgot that Jiao Ba was still on Bearded Man's boat. If this person encountered him, Jiao Ba would likely be in grave danger. 0

Without a second thought, I dove into the sea and swam with all my might toward Bearded Man's fishing boat. The moonlight illuminated the sea surface like a ghostly realm while that fishing boat drifted on the dark waters like a phantom vessel. 0

Soon enough, I reached the side of the fishing boat. I didn't even have time to gather my thoughts before scrambling up using the lifeline. But when I reached the deck, I discovered it was completely empty. 0

The bare bow left me bewildered. Where could Jiao Ba be? I distinctly remembered him signaling me from up front just moments ago, yet now he had vanished without a trace. Moreover, the coffin we had fished up earlier was gone too; I remembered clearly that it had been placed on deck. 0

I quietly searched both the bow and stern but found no sign of Jiao Ba. Could it be... that he had already met with misfortune? Deep down, I knew there was another person on this ship—likely one of those black-clad men or perhaps Shunzi himself—hiding in some corner and watching me secretly. 0

I pressed my body tightly against the side of the ship, inching forward. The hatch on the deck was wide open, but inside was an impenetrable darkness. The sea breeze howled, sending a chill deep into my heart. I quickly pulled the Paratrooper Knife from my leg, gripping it tightly in my hand, and then cautiously made my way into the cabin. 0

The passage was shrouded in darkness, the switch for the Underwater Light was broken, and I had left my flashlight on Jenny's deck. I took out my lighter, but it wouldn’t ignite, likely due to water damage. 0

Damn it, there was no other choice; I had to feel my way through the dark, carefully stepping further inside. Strangely enough, all the hatches inside were open. I began searching from the first cabin. 0

After rummaging through several cabins without any luck, I still hadn’t found Jiao Ba. Just as I was starting to panic, a loud crash shattered the silence of the night. It sounded like something heavy had fallen to the ground with a dull thud. 0

The noise came from the far end of the passage. I tightened my grip on the Paratrooper Knife and hurried toward it. As I reached the entrance of the last cabin, I caught sight of someone standing by the window, about to escape through it. 0

“Stop right there!” I shouted as I rushed in, but this person was incredibly fast; they leaped out before I could get a good look at them. 0

Just as I was about to chase after them, moonlight from outside illuminated something on the floor. 0

It was the coffin we had salvaged earlier. To my shock, it had been opened—the lid lay on the ground—and I could vaguely see a figure lying inside. 0

The loud crash must have been caused by the lid falling. At that moment, fear gripped me; what if this Demon Worm Corpse suddenly woke up? Steeling myself, I approached to see what kind of body lay within. 0

But when I looked closer, a jolt of terror shot through me, nearly causing me to stumble. The person lying in that coffin was none other than Jiao Ba... 0
