A loud bang shook the entire fishing boat, and I instinctively dropped to the ground, inadvertently pushing Jiao Ba down with me. It felt as if some kind of shockwave had hit us, and just as suddenly, it was over. 0

The boat continued to sway unsteadily. I looked up and saw that aside from the shattered glass on the windows of the cabin, everything else seemed unchanged. I was covered in shards of glass; thankfully, I had fallen in time, or I would have ended up with blood all over my face. 0

I turned to Jiao Bayi and asked, "What the hell just happened?" 0

Jiao Ba was still holding his head with both hands. I went over and gave him a light smack on the head, saying, "Stop playing dead; it's fine now." 0

Jiao Ba looked around nervously and said, "How would I know, Brother Yi? We need to get out of here; we can't stay any longer." 0

I pulled Jiao Ba to his feet. With the moonlight streaming in from outside, I noticed something unusual about the coffin. Surrounding it were wisps of black mist swirling around. Although it was hard to see clearly, it was evident that they were moving around the coffin. 0

"What is that next to the coffin?" I asked, staring at it intently. 0

Jiao Ba gasped and said, "That... that looks like it's coming from the female corpse." 0

"How could this happen?" When I first encountered a Demon Worm Corpse, I hadn't seen anything like this before, and now I was completely confused. 0

Jiao Ba's face grew increasingly pale as he spoke in a low tone, "This is bad. It seems she wants to break through that talisman. This Demon Worm Corpse is much stronger than the previous one; that talisman might not be enough to contain her." 0

"What do we do then?" Hearing Jiao Ba's words made my head spin. Without the talisman to suppress her, if this female corpse went wild, we would both be dead for sure. 0

"What can we do? We should hurry and leave," Jiao Ba said urgently. 0

I stared at the coffin and said, "But I haven't even pried open her mouth yet. What if there's something inside? That would be a waste of our efforts." 0

Jiao Ba pleaded with me, "Brother, our lives are more important than anything else. Once she breaks through that talisman, we won't even have time to run." 0

"But she hasn't gone wild yet! I have to pry open her mouth," I insisted. I didn't know where this courage came from, but I couldn't control my emotions. If I didn't pry open this female corpse's mouth, I'd feel like I'd suffocate from anxiety. 0

I held the Paratrooper Knife, ready to move forward, but Jiao Ba quickly stepped in front of me and said, "I'm begging you, brother, now is not the time to show off." 0

I pushed him aside and replied, "Now is also not the time to hesitate." 0

Jiao Ba couldn't stop me. I moved past him with the Paratrooper Knife in hand and approached the coffin. The black mist still swirled around it. I tried to touch it; after passing through the mist, I felt nothing unusual aside from a chill. It seemed this thing posed no harm to me. 0

"Brother Yi, hurry up and retreat! You're playing with fire," Jiao Ba shouted anxiously from behind. 0

I didn't have time to respond. I walked through the black mist and stood right in front of the coffin. The female corpse lay still inside, but suddenly I noticed something odd: her hands seemed to be changing. The moonlight was dim, making it hard for me to see clearly. 0

I asked Jiao Ba to toss me a lighter. Holding it, I examined her hands closely. Once I got a good look at them, it felt like an electric shock coursed through my body; my hair nearly stood on end as cold sweat began to trickle down my forehead. 0

The nails of the female corpse were actually growing longer, and they had a peculiar dark purple color, almost as if they were poisoned. The tips resembled the fangs of a wild beast, several centimeters long, leaving me utterly stunned. 0

"Lao Ba, her... her nails are growing," I said without turning back, my voice trembling slightly. 0

"What? Her nails are growing? Brother Yi, she's about to break through that talisman! You need to leave; it's dangerous!" Jiao Ba shouted behind me. 0

But at this critical moment, if I hesitated now, everything would be for nothing. I had to try; victory or defeat hinged on this moment. 0

After staring at the female corpse's face for a few seconds, I let out a furious roar. I swung my right hand holding the knife and thrust it into her mouth, then pressed down hard on the handle. Her mouth was pried open by my force. 0

I held the lighter forward and was pleasantly surprised; just as I suspected, there was indeed a small golden sphere inside her mouth. It was tiny, almost the size of a button. Without hesitation, I reached in and took it out. 0

However, just as I pulled my hand back, her mouth snapped shut with a loud crack. My Paratrooper Knife broke; she had bitten it in half. 0

Thank goodness my reflexes were quick; otherwise, my fingers would have been lost. Just as I stood there in shock, the female corpse suddenly opened her eyes. They were blood-red and glowing ominously. Before I could react to what was happening, 0

a flash of red light shot past me. It felt as if a truck had slammed into my chest; I was thrown backward with a thud against the wall of the cabin before rebounding and landing face down on the ground. 0

"Brother Yi! Brother Yi! Are you okay?" Jiao Ba rushed over to help me up. 0

I grasped Jiao Ba's arm, forcing myself to stand despite the pain. I didn't even have the strength to speak; that blow nearly killed me. Every part of my body ached, and it felt like my bones were about to fall apart. 0

Blood trickled from the corner of my mouth as I pressed my hand against my chest, confirming that there were no serious internal injuries, but I suspected some cracked ribs. Thankfully, my physique was strong enough; if it had been someone else, they would have either died or been left crippled. 0

"We need to hurry. In less than half an hour, that female corpse will break through the talisman, and we’ll both be dead," Jiao Ba said, supporting me with a pale face. 0

I nodded and replied, "Yeah, I've got what we need. Let's go." 0

But just as I finished speaking, I saw lights flashing outside the window, bright and glaring—much brighter than before. Jiao Ba quickly helped me to the side of the window to look out. This was bad; it was Jenny's Fishing Boat, and they were approaching with powerful spotlights. 0

It seemed that the loud noise earlier had drawn their attention. I hadn't expected them to come back. "It's Jenny's Fishing Boat; they're almost here." 0

"This must be because of that loud noise. Brother Yi, what do we do now? If Jenny sees us here, how can we explain?" Jiao Ba was starting to panic. Normally calm, he seemed flustered today. 0

I furrowed my brow in thought and said, "There's no way to explain it, so we can't let them see us here. I need to stop them from boarding. Once that female corpse breaks through the talisman, we're all in danger." 0

"They're likely coming from the front of the boat. Let's head to the back now. Once Jenny's Fishing Boat gets closer, we can circle around from behind and follow them quietly. Just do as I say and don’t talk too much; I'll handle Jenny and her crew." 0

"Okay, I'll follow your lead, Brother Yi," Jiao Ba nodded in agreement. 0
