When I shouted for everyone to run, the female corpse above me lunged directly at me. I vaguely saw her devilish hand reaching for my head, and panic surged through me. I quickly rolled forward, narrowly avoiding her nails.
I scrambled to my feet and grabbed a shard of glass from the ground, as I had no weapon left; my Paratrooper Knife was broken. I could only pick up something to defend myself against the Queen's husband.
Turning to face her, we were only a few meters apart. Since death was inevitable, I decided to fight back. My clothes were already torn by her nails; I was lucky to have dodged in time, or I would have met the same fate as Scarred Face.
To be honest, seeing Scarred Face die so tragically left me with an uncomfortable feeling. Unfortunately, that sympathy was quickly overshadowed by the terrifying atmosphere surrounding us.
The female corpse stood in front of the coffin, emanating a chilling aura. Her blood-red eyes fixed on me as if she knew I had taken something from her.
I dared not meet her gaze; it would cost me my life. At that moment, my hand holding the glass shard trembled slightly, and it cut into my palm, blood dripping steadily from my hand.
"Cough cough cough." I coughed several times. The sudden movement had intensified the pain in my chest; it felt like my left rib was broken, making even breathing painful.
Right now, I was buying time for the others. As long as I could hold off this female corpse, there was a chance for everyone else to survive. "Brother Yi, are you okay?" Jiao Ba's voice suddenly came from behind me.
"Damn it, why haven't you all left yet?" It dawned on me that Jenny and Mai Lao hadn’t escaped either. Wasn’t this just wasting time?
"The ship's hatch suddenly closed and won’t open! What do we do now?" Jenny asked nervously.
"Oh no, this... this is a zombie situation! What should we do? Think of something!" Big Guy, despite his intimidating physique, was pitifully cowardly. Jenny, a girl, wasn’t scared like this; he almost cried like a child.
"Shut up! What time is it? Stop whining!" I shouted back at Big Guy without turning around.
"Windows! You all go out through the windows; I'll cover you."
As soon as I finished speaking, I saw the female corpse's eyes flash with a red light. It felt like being hit by a car again; my body instinctively recoiled several steps back, though not as severely as before.
If she hit me again like that, I'd surely be done for. Just as I steadied myself, the female corpse came charging at me with claws outstretched. "Run!" I yelled and charged forward myself this time with a mindset of certain death; against such an evil being, I had no other options.
Her claws swept toward me, and I quickly ducked down to avoid them. If I hadn’t dodged in time, my head would have been taken off. Seizing the opportunity, I swung my arm and drove the glass shard into her abdomen.
However, it had no effect at all; instead, it seemed to enrage her. Suddenly, she let out a long howl that shook the entire fishing boat as if the world itself were about to collapse.
I quickly stepped back, but for some reason, it felt as if there was a pulling force ahead of me. A strong wind made it impossible for me to control my body; my feet were almost scraping against the ground as I was dragged forward, as if someone was pulling me.
No matter how I struggled, it was futile. The female corpse was getting closer and closer, and I could even see her dark purple nails clearly. It seemed like it was the end for me; once she pulled me in, I would be shattered to pieces.
Just at that critical moment, a gunshot echoed through the night sky. The bullet struck the female corpse right in the head, and the fishing boat fell silent. The pulling force vanished along with it.
I turned to look and saw it was Jiao Ba, standing by the window with a gun in hand. "Brother Yi, hurry up!" he shouted. Then there were two more gunshots, and the female corpse collapsed to the ground, black liquid oozing from her head.
I knew very well that this wouldn't kill her. I quickly moved to the window. "Give me the gun first; you need to leave quickly."
"What about you, Brother Yi? Let's go together!" Jiao Ba shouted anxiously.
"Stop talking nonsense; it's harder for two people to escape." I feared that the female corpse would chase us onto Jenny's boat, and that would be disastrous.
Jiao Ba understood the urgency of the situation and stopped arguing. "I'll be back, Brother Yi." After tossing me the gun, he jumped out of the window.
Now, only I and this Female Demon Bug Corpse remained in the cabin. This was the final showdown; whether I lived or died depended on whether I could hold out until Jiao Ba returned or find an opportunity to escape.
The female corpse slowly rose again, black liquid still flowing from her mouth. The temperature in the cabin dropped significantly. I aimed my gun at her head and fired two more shots. However, this time she didn't fall; instead, she wore a smile similar to that of the previous Coffin Corpse.
A shiver ran through me; it was better to run first. Just as I prepared to jump out of the window, the female corpse charged at me with incredible speed that was almost unimaginable.
I hurriedly dove to the side and fired another shot at her. The bullets were no longer effective; they merely slowed her down. My actions were just buying time.
I had two bullets left in my gun. Once those were gone and if I still couldn't escape, then it would truly be my end.
Now I felt a bit scared; heroes often meet tragic ends. When faced with life and death, no one remains righteous. The pain in my chest became unbearable; my body had likely reached its limit.
Suddenly, everything became blurry; the female corpse appeared as two figures before me. I shook my head vigorously and pressed my hand against my wound—the pain intensified sharply, bringing me back to some clarity.
I raised my hand and fired again. The female corpse merely twitched slightly; it had no effect at all. Once I fired my last bullet, I would be completely cut off from this world.
However, it seemed like the female corpse was deliberately toying with me now; she wasn't in a hurry anymore and slowly approached me step by step. With each step she took forward, I retreated backward until my back hit the wall. No longer able to struggle futilely, I could only wait for death to arrive.
Just as I was preparing myself for death, Mai Lao suddenly jumped in through the window, moving with such agility that I could hardly believe it. He was holding a large spear and shouted, "Loyalty and Righteousness, scatter!"
Without a second thought, I lunged to the side. Mai Lao thrust the spear forward; the female corpse was facing away from him, and the spear pierced through her body, pinning her against the bulkhead with tremendous force.
"Get out of here!" Mai Lao shouted at me again.
At that moment, I was in such a desperate state that I practically rolled to the window. Just as I was about to escape, I suddenly noticed a gas canister in the corner of the cabin—a small household canister about a meter tall.
An idea struck me. I decided to take a gamble. Standing by the window, I said, "Mai Lao, you go ahead. I'll be right behind you."
"Hurry up! I'm going down first!" Mai Lao said before jumping out of the window.
I opened the magazine and saw that there was indeed one last bullet left. The power of the Demon Worm Corpse was immense; she had already broken free from the spear, and the black mist around her was thickening. The fishing boat began to sway again.
I smirked. "Rest in peace, my friend."
I suddenly leaped out of the window. In that split second as I burst through, I aimed at the gas canister and fired. A deafening explosion erupted, engulfing the entire cabin in flames.
Everything happened so fast that before I even realized it, I was blasted far away by the force of the explosion. I was thrown out of the fishing boat's window and landed more than ten meters away, my body uncontrollably plunging into the sea. At that moment, I completely lost consciousness...
