Shi Tiankai continued to inquire step by step about Wu Rong.
Wu Rong explained that he had spent many years in a foreign country and had just returned home. Embracing someone was a matter of etiquette, and even kissing on the cheek could be attributed to not having adjusted back to local customs yet. However, while this might fool the Inspection Team and Jiang Chuchu, it was unlikely to deceive anyone who knew Wu Rong.
The principal had begun to see through the situation but naturally chose to side with Wu Rong and not expose him. As for how he became Rao Jie's tutor, that was even easier to explain.
Wu Rong smiled at Jiang Chuchu and asked, "Do you remember your freshman roommate, Wu Xin?"
Jiang Chuchu paused, her brow slightly furrowed.
Wu Rong sneered, "Coincidentally, I am her older brother. My younger sister asked me to tutor her good friend. I don't understand what made you suspicious."
The relationship between Wu Rong, Wu Xin, and Rao Jie became clear and understandable. At that moment, the principal finally added, "Jiang Chuchu, you may not be fully aware of some school regulations. Professor Wu is not an employee of our school; he is merely a temporary lecturer and does not participate in student grading or evaluation. Therefore, even if he interacts with students from the school, it is entirely legitimate, so there is no inappropriate relationship as you suggested."
The principal further explained Wu Rong's situation to the Inspection Team; for them, Wu Rong was completely independent and not subject to school management.
Upon hearing this, the members of the Inspection Team understood the context and realized that the truth was simply that Jiang Chuchu was unwilling to accept reality and had misinterpreted things.
Jiang Chuchu's face turned pale, and she couldn't utter a word; deep down, she felt guilty. After all, during that public lecture, Rao Jie's performance had already made her realize something. Her actions were driven by a momentary thrill aimed at ruining Rao Jie, but she hadn't expected things to go so poorly for her instead, leading her to feel even more guilty.
However, Jiang Chuchu's parents still sided with their daughter, believing there was some hidden agenda at play and that those involved were protecting each other.
Initially, they had confidently assured others that their daughter was outstanding enough to be granted direct admission; now that it suddenly seemed impossible, they felt humiliated and were unwilling to accept this new reality. Moreover, while these people provided reasons for their decisions, it didn't necessarily mean those reasons were true; reasonable explanations could merely serve as convenient cover-ups.
They felt powerless against such authority.
Jiang Chuchu's parents expressed their anger: "Whatever you say is right! The heavens are watching! If necessary, we will take our own exams at other schools—schools that are fair! Chuchu, let's go!"
At this declaration, the Ye family father and son were furious, and the members of the Inspection Team felt awkward.
Jiang Chuchu had no evidence to substantiate her accusations against Wu Rong. Everything was merely baseless speculation. They had clarified Jiang Chuchu's doubts; if she still refused to believe them, there was nothing more they could do.
As Jiang Chuchu's parents attempted to take her away, Shi Tiankai blocked their path. Since the matter involved police intervention, they indeed needed to discuss compensation regarding Wu Rong's reputation.
Jiang Chuchu's parents could hardly believe it; even the police seemed to side with those in power against ordinary citizens.
Just as the commotion escalated, Wu Rong spoke up with a voice as cold as ice: "Since you all believe your daughter is innocent, let the facts speak for themselves. Prove with strength who the true innocent one really is!"
