Pluto Legion commander Stepping onto the dense forest path, his towering figure exudes an imposing presence. His gaze is sharp, and he wields a special metal-crafted sword in one hand, leading his squad swiftly through the forest.
"Hurry up, soldiers!" he shouts loudly, his voice echoing through the dense woods.
A pungent burning smell suddenly filled the air, accompanied by the sound of fighting and roaring in the distance. Pluto furrowed his brow, knowing that the vanguard was likely facing a second attack.
"Stop!" he suddenly shouted, and the team immediately halted their steps.
"Listen, our mission is to assist Centurion Maximianus's vanguard and ensure they can safely retreat. Get your formations in order and prepare for battle!"
"Yes, Legion commander!" the soldiers responded spiritedly.
At that moment, a deafening roar shattered the tranquility, echoing throughout the entire forest. Everyone, including Pluto, felt a chill run down their spine.
An older soldier, with a look of fear on his face, whispered to his comrade, "These savages from Britain have a legend of shapeshifters. They call themselves bear warriors. It is said that in a state of extreme anger, they can transform into bears, losing all rationality and only knowing how to destroy everything in front of them."
Pluto Upon hearing these words, his body instantly tensed. He knew that this battle would be far more difficult and dangerous than they had anticipated.
"Whether they are human or bear, it is not a reason for us to retreat. Prepare your weapons and follow me!" Pluto tightened his grip on the sword, a glint of unwavering determination in his eyes.
The soldiers looked at him, and a strange courage arose in their hearts. They responded in unison, "Yes, Legion commander!"
And so, Pluto led his squad deep into the darkness of the forest, facing unknown dangers. But he knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, he had to lead these men out and return to Rome alive.
Because this is his responsibility as a Legion commander, and also his loyalty to himself and his legion.
Centurion Maximianus glanced at his vanguard with some disappointment. These new recruits had pale faces and were gripping their weapons unsteadily. Under the oppressive presence of the Giant bear on the battlefield, even the bravest soldiers would feel a hint of fear.
"vanguard, restore formation!" "Maximian attempted to use a commanding voice to rally the soldiers' courage.
However, his command seemed to have not achieved the expected effect. The soldiers exchanged glances with each other, but did not act immediately.
"Crossbow unit, ready! Maximian quickly turns to the crossbowman, "Fire rockets at that Giant bear!"
With the command given, the rockets burst into the air and disappeared in a flash. However, the Giant bear only roared in anger. Clearly, most of the arrows were blocked by its thick fur. Only two or three managed to penetrate, but the damage was minimal."
"Damn, how is this possible..." Maximian gritted his teeth.
At that moment, Cyrus suddenly appeared and quickly ran to the side of the centurion. "Centurion, I just noticed that the sword I had previously stuck in the Giant bear's body is still on its right side. That might be its weak spot."
Maximian widened his eyes in surprise, "Are you sure?"
"If we don't try, we'll never know, centurion."
Maximian took a deep breath and nodded. "Alright, team, focus your fire on the right flank of the Giant bear! Cyrus, lead a strike team and see if you can get close to that beast!"
"Yes, centurion!"
In the chaos and noise of the battlefield, Cyrus caught sight of an abandoned spear on the ground. He quickly picked it up, stood on a slightly elevated rock, and loudly announced to the surrounding soldiers, "Listen to my command! Our target is the right flank of the Giant bear! This is the key to breaking the deadlock and achieving victory! Who is willing to join my assault team?"
His voice echoed across the battlefield like a sharp sword cutting through the chaos and panic, drawing a clear path. Several soldiers, inspired by his momentum, came forward without hesitation.
"I'll go with you, Cyrus!" the first soldier said loudly.
"Me too, we'll go together!" another soldier joined in.
Nearby, Centurion Maximianus witnessed all of this, and his attitude towards Cyrus changed slightly. He believed that this young soldier had great potential and was worth cultivating after the war. However, he also knew that now was not the time to consider such matters.
He widened his eyes and stared at the giant bear ahead, loudly commanding the crossbow unit, "Shoot again! Attract its attention!"
Crossbow unit aims at the Giant bear, and a rain of arrows falls once again. Centurion Maximianus swings his sword and leads his soldiers to charge at the Giant bear in an attempt to draw its attention.
Cyrus sees that the time is right. He shouts to his assault team, "Now! Follow me!"
He led the assault team swiftly around the left side of the Giant bear, with a clear target - the right flank of the Giant bear. The soldiers followed closely behind, with spears, swords, and shields at the ready. They followed the path of Cyrus, filled with an indomitable courage, and in that moment, they became a true assault team.
Centurion Maximianus tightly gripped his sword, having seen enough of the rampage of the Giant bear in front of him. He turned and nodded to the soldiers behind him, a silent command that was enough for everyone to understand what to do next.
"Everyone get ready!" Maximian shouted.
Giant bear seemed to sense the unusual atmosphere, let out a roar, and suddenly swung its forelimbs fiercely towards Maximian. Centurion swiftly dodged to the side and at the same time, slashed at Giant bear's forelimb with his sword. The blade cut through the fur, opening another new wound. Although shallow, the wound was enough to enrage Giant bear.
Giant bear roared furiously and launched a fierce attack on Maximian as if it had gone mad. Each strike carried the power to destroy everything, but Maximian always cleverly dodged and found opportunities to counterattack.
At that moment, Cyrus led the assault team to the flank of Giant bear. Cyrus gritted his teeth, tightened his grip on the spear in his hand, and then thrust it sharply, accurately piercing the previously injured area on the right side of Giant bear. The spear penetrated the thick fur, causing the small wound to start bleeding.
Giant bear roared in pain and convulsed. Cyrus quickly withdrew the spear and dodged the potential retaliation from Giant bear.
Maximian seized the opportunity and shouted, "crossbowman, fire!"
With the command, the crossbowmen almost simultaneously released a wave of arrows, shooting towards Giant bear. Giant bear was hit by several arrows, further enraging it.
Centurion Maximianus seized the opportunity to charge forward, raising his sword high and thrusting it towards Giant bear's eye. The sword tip grazed the corner of Giant bear's eye, immediately leaving a wound on its left eye.
The roar of the Giant bear almost shattered the entire valley, and one of its eyes was already blurry. But Maximian knew that the battle was far from over. He tightly gripped the sword handle, ready to face the even fiercer battle ahead.
