Giant bear's roar shook the entire battlefield. It stood up, its furry body appearing even more powerful in the sunlight. Then, the bear fiercely slammed its paws onto the ground. The resulting shockwave was so strong that it was almost unbelievable—Cyrus's assault team was scattered and sent flying, people stumbling and some even losing consciousness in an instant.
Centurion Maximianus's front-line squad also felt the tremendous impact, the soldiers being thrown as if by invisible hands, landing some distance away. However, the Crossbow unit seemed unaware of the danger, continuing to shoot at Giant bear incessantly.
Giant bear no longer waited and charged forward like a raging war chariot. The crossbowmen had almost no time to react before being sent flying by the force of the Giant bear, instantly losing their combat capability.
Centurion Maximianus felt a sinking sensation in his heart. He knew that without the harassment and suppression of long-range firepower, the upcoming battle would bring great disadvantages to the ground forces. As he stood up, he quickly analyzed the situation.
Suddenly, he thought of the situation he had just observed: due to the injury, the giant bear could only see things on its right side. This might be a breakthrough.
Maximian immediately made a decision. He dropped the sword in his hand and picked up a spear instead. "Everyone, listen up, grab a spear and focus on attacking the left side of the bear!" he shouted.
The soldiers quickly responded, all switching to spears. They surged from all directions, but converged on the left side of the Giant bear.
The spear has a longer range than the sword and is more suitable for collective attacks. Centurion Maximianus led his soldiers in launching a fierce assault while taking advantage of the Giant bear's limited visibility.
Every time the spear pierces the skin of the Giant bear, it roars in anger, but this time, it cannot determine where the enemy is.
At this moment, Maximian knows deep down that they may have found a way to break the deadlock.
While Centurion Maximianus continued to launch fierce attacks on the left side of the Giant bear, Cyrus quickly organized the team. He picked up the crossbow that had just been dropped by the Crossbow unit, tightened his grip on the spear, and led the assault team in a fierce charge towards the right side of the Giant bear.
"Forward! Protect yourselves with shields, the target is its hind legs and side belly!" Cyrus shouted.
The soldiers of the assault team followed suit, and the spear, like a deadly arrow, pierced through the air and struck the flesh of the Giant bear. Centurion Maximianus saw the attack on the right also unfolding, reinforcing his own offensive. The Giant bear, caught in attacks from both sides, clearly began to falter.
"Keep it up, we're almost there!" Centurion Maximianus shouted.
At that moment, Giant bear suddenly let out a huge roar and with its massive claws, swept the soldiers of the assault team away. It turned around and charged towards Centurion Maximianus with all its might.
"Watch out!" Cyrus exclaimed, but it was already too late.
Centurion Maximianus was hit by a Giant bear and crashed into the dormitory next to the camp, with broken wood and rubble flying everywhere.
Cyrus was stunned, he did not expect the Giant bear to launch such a precise attack on an unseen left side.
"All of you, follow me!" Cyrus gasped, then led the assault team towards the direction of the dormitory, silently praying for Centurion Maximianus to be unharmed. He knew that the battle was far from over, and every decision could mean a different outcome of life and death. At that moment, Cyrus realized that he was not only responsible for himself, but also for the lives of the entire team.
In the thick smoke, a huge black shadow emerged once again. Giant bear lifted its heavy body and let out a soul-shaking roar, declaring that it still possessed the power to destroy everything.
Cyrus's heart sank in an instant. Not far away, Centurion Maximianus lay limp on the ground, his leadership and experience indispensable to the vanguard. Losing him was like losing a powerful pillar. Cyrus knew that it was time to act decisively.
Giant bear turned around, its remaining eye like a black hole drawing Cyrus' gaze. What surprised him was the deep spear lodged in Giant bear's left eye, undoubtedly the result of Centurion Maximianus's final struggle.
With a sudden surge of determination, Cyrus quickly analyzed the situation. The broken spear was the fatal weakness of the Giant bear. If they could push it in deeper, straight to the brain, the Giant bear would surely fall.
He swiftly issued the command, "Five or six soldiers in the front, use shields and short swords to distract it! The remaining ten, approach from the right side and continuously attack with bows, arrows, and stones!"
Soldiers, follow orders, despite the fear in your hearts, and proceed without hesitation. Cyrus circled to the left side of the Giant bear, quietly approaching a destroyed house.
The soldiers gritted their teeth and followed Cyrus's orders. Five or six soldiers formed a small team, roaring loudly, assuming a defensive posture, using shields and short swords to try to attract the attention of the Giant bear.
"Come on, you beast!" a soldier roared.
Giant bear let out a deep roar, and for a moment, everyone could feel the ground trembling slightly. It seemed to be drawn over, starting to walk towards the soldiers.
At the same time, another group of soldiers was quietly approaching from the right, tightly gripping bows and arrows as well as stones, ready to launch an attack at the right moment. As the Giant bear battled the soldiers in front, these soldiers immediately released arrows and hurled stones.
"Now!" Cyrus made a gesture in secret.
The soldiers on the right surged out like a flood, shooting arrows and hurling stones at the Giant bear in rapid succession. The Giant bear roared in pain and anger, but this also diverted its attention away from the soldiers in front.
