"Don't move." Liu Gen never expected to find himself in this situation. Not only was he shocked when he first saw Wu Zui's true face, but now the problem was that Guan Zengbin had become one of Wu Zui's people. Your joining our team made it difficult for Wu Zui to act directly against you. Of course, back then we still didn't know who Shi Huacheng's other two adopted children were and never imagined that you two were twins. We certainly didn't think that you, Wu Meng, were one of Shi Huacheng's adopted children."
"So you were protected while we began searching for the children raised by Shi Huacheng," Liu continued. "As we solved more cases, Captain Shao gathered more clues about Wu Zui. Consequently, I developed a habit; after Wu Meng joined us, I started buying lottery tickets continuously."
"Captain Shao crafted a story for me and meticulously played it out. In reality, I was the undercover agent back then, and that Drug Dealer group had long been eradicated. This was a weakness that Captain Shao created for me; he had once been Shi Huacheng's apprentice and understood Shi Huacheng's tactics and weaknesses—one person's greatest vulnerability."
Liu smiled. "So you probably didn't expect that buying lottery tickets was just a ruse to attract your attention. In Liu Yinyan's case, I intended to approach you first but was preempted by Wu Meng, which delayed my contact with you. But none of that mattered; it was your first real encounter with us. From that moment on, your fate was sealed. When you revealed your name, we thought it was just a random choice aimed at targeting Wu Meng. Little did we know you truly were brothers."
"However, we finally faced off directly," Liu sighed. "We just didn't anticipate how formidable you were; you managed to lead all your people away. During that operation, Captain Shao began to suspect there was an insider within the police department. If there wasn't an insider, how could you possibly know about our deployment? How could you devise a strategy to completely evade us?"
"At that point, Captain Shao rarely showed his face because he needed to investigate who among us had betrayed our trust." Liu's gaze was piercing as if he wanted to see through everyone's hearts. "In essence, our Special Operations Group was in the open while your organization operated in the shadows; this put us at a significant disadvantage."
Liu shifted his position as he spoke: "I was left behind because I needed to demonstrate my desire for power and money to draw you into our game. After Liu Yinyan's case concluded, the higher-ups expressed disappointment with the Special Cases Unit; thus our group was reassigned locally. I was supposed to follow along but Captain Shao told me this was actually a great opportunity—an excellent chance."
Liu shrugged. "That's why I joined Captain Li's team. It's really uncomfortable to be suspected by everyone, but I became an undercover agent right after graduating from the police academy. As an undercover agent, I've seen all kinds of situations and endured all sorts of suspicion. Captain Shao entrusted this mission to me because he trusts me. Under the cooperation of Captain Shao and Captain Li, I gradually climbed up the ranks."
"In fact, Captain Shao and Captain Li used to be bunkmates in the police academy; their relationship was so good that they could share a pair of pants," Liu laughed. "But they always give off the impression that they can't stand each other. Although Captain Li's abilities aren't as strong as Captain Shao's, in the grand scheme of things, Captain Li is not someone who would kick someone when they're down."
Liu Jixu continued, "When the Special Operations Group was solving cases locally, Wu Zui Gang finally started to pay attention to me. After several rounds of probing, we began a simple collaboration. Of course, at first, no one trusted anyone, so how could we increase trust? That's when Captain Shao came up with a plan."
"That plan was to make Wu Meng into a murderer." Liu seemed quite pleased with this scheme. "After discussing it with Wu Zui's informant, Wu Zui was very satisfied with the plan, and it was undoubtedly the best gift I could give him. First, it would strengthen Wu Zui's trust in me; second, it would expose my ambitions and make Wu Zui think I was easy to control; third, it would allow the Special Operations Group to operate from the shadows.
