My heart sank to the depths. Her child was dead, just like that. I held her tightly, filled with hatred. I would avenge my child. And Jiang Yao's son would surely die as well. 0

"Lin Yu, did you ever think this would happen?" Jiang Yao squatted down, gripping my chin, a smug look on her face. "You've always been better than me since we were kids. Father says I'm not as good as you every day, but look at you now, kneeling before me like a dog." 0

"Jiang Yao, why are you treating me this way?" I lifted my head and looked coldly at Jiang Yao. "I never believed I had wronged you." 0

"You never wronged me? Ha! Lin Yu, how dare you say you've never wronged me? My father praises you every day in front of me, saying how wonderful you are. Now I want to see just how wonderful you really are! My dear father only sees your goodness and overlooks me entirely." 0

It dawned on me then that Jiang Yao had always been jealous of me; those years of sisterly affection had been a joke. 0

Jiang Yao said triumphantly, "I knew it! I am the chosen one; I will definitely bear a dragon son. With a son, I will be esteemed as the queen. And you will never measure up to me." 0

I scoffed, "Do you really think that giving birth to a prince secures your position as queen? Let me tell you, the reason the emperor hasn’t moved against you is that you possess something he desires. Without that, do you think he will continue to dote on you like before?" 0

Jiang Yao's expression changed drastically. "What nonsense are you spouting? Now that I have the crown prince, I'm not afraid!" 0

With that, Jiang Yao drew a dagger and lunged at me. I didn’t dodge or evade; instead, a cold smile crept onto my lips. "Go ahead, kill me! You'd better do it; otherwise, I will make sure you suffer!" 0

Jiang Yao was completely provoked by my words and charged at me with the dagger. However, the Palace Maids blocked her path. 0

Jiang Yao failed to kill me. 0

I looked at Jiang Yao in her frenzy and smiled mockingly. I wanted to provoke her into losing control. As long as she lost control, I would have my chance. 0

Sure enough, not long after, the emperor released me and restored my status. 0

I have always known that what the Emperor desires most is someone who can bear the Dragon Heir. Otherwise, he would never let me off the hook. 0

Jiang Yao stood to the side, watching me with jealousy. She couldn't understand why the Emperor still held onto thoughts of me. She was the Empress! 0

Jiang Yao looked at me, a hint of malice flashing in her eyes. She brought the Crown Prince over, who was crying and fussing uncontrollably. 0

The Emperor, growing impatient, asked, "What is all this noise about?" 0

Jiang Yao quickly knelt on the ground. "Your Majesty, please forgive me. It is all my fault for not properly educating the Crown Prince. I beg for your punishment." 0

The Emperor coldly regarded Jiang Yao. "You truly are useless; you can't even manage the Crown Prince." 0

Jiang Yao was taken aback; she hadn't expected the Emperor to lash out at her. She glanced at me and saw a faint smile on my face as I provocatively looked back at her. 0

Jiang Yao gritted her teeth in anger. Taking a deep breath to suppress her fury, she said to the Emperor, "Your Majesty, I have something to report." 0

The Emperor looked at Jiang Yao coldly. "Speak." 0

Jiang Yao stepped forward and leaned closer to whisper a few words into the Emperor's ear. 0

The Emperor frowned slightly. "Are you sure?" 0

Jiang Yao nodded. "Absolutely." 0

After pondering for a moment, the Emperor nodded in response. 0

Jiang Yao turned to me and said coldly, "You, haven't you always wanted to see your father?" 0

I was taken aback and quickly raised my head to look at Jiang Yao. 0

Jiang Yao signaled to the Palace Maids with her eyes. 0

The Palace Maids approached, carrying a box. 0
