On the day of the product launch, I met Lin Miaoke in the L&C conference room. I noticed she was fixated on the new smartphone, her eyes filled with admiration. It seemed she really liked this phone.
Three days later, I was called to the company by Shen Kun to discuss details. Suddenly, my phone buzzed. A message from an unknown number appeared.
"Miss Fang, hello, this is Lin Miaoke. Do you remember me? I’ve accepted the endorsement for L&C because I trust you."
I excitedly held my phone and shouted in Shen Kun's office, "Shen Kun! She agreed! She agreed!"
Shen Kun frowned, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes. He didn’t expect that I could actually pull it off. But soon, he regained his composure.
"Come on, it's just signing a celebrity. Why are you so excited?"
"Of course it matters!"
I shot him a glare and turned to leave. Lin Miaoke was Qu Yue, the girl next door. Years ago, when her parents divorced, she left with her mother. Later, I heard she got into a film academy and became an actress. I never expected she would turn out to be Lin Miaoke!
Speaking of which, we had some fate between us.
Ma Yue knew I was going on a business trip and invited me to dinner a day in advance. He chose a Sichuan restaurant, aware that I didn’t usually eat spicy food. Yet in the end, he still ordered spicy dishes to accompany me.
During dinner, he kept pouring water for me and warming the bowls and chopsticks. On the sidewalk, he made sure I wasn’t jostled by passersby. These little gestures made me feel his attentiveness and thoughtfulness.
After finishing his meal, his lips were swollen from the spiciness. I rushed to the convenience store and bought him a box of milk to ease the heat. He stood downstairs, watching me, hesitating for a long time.
“Miao Miao, will you be my girlfriend?”
I was taken aback for a moment, feeling a bit uncertain. He quickly explained, “Back in college, I had feelings for you. But at that time, Shen Kun said he liked you and wouldn’t allow anyone to get close to you, so I gave up on you.”
“Now that you two have broken up, can you give me a chance? Let me be your support when you need someone to rely on?”
I looked at him for a long time and smiled lightly. “Senior, thank you, but… I think we should take this slowly.”
“Okay, okay! No problem!” Ma Yue exclaimed excitedly like a child.
The next day, Ma Yue took me to the airport. Before going through security, he held my hand tightly, reluctant to let go. “Miao Miao, call me when you arrive; I’ll come pick you up.”
“Sure.” I smiled and turned to leave.
Not far away, Shen Kun crossed his arms and looked at us with an unhappy expression. “Tch, getting together so quickly?”
I shot him a glare, feeling annoyed. “What’s it to you?”
"Of course it concerns me!" Shen Kun said, a hint of urgency in his voice.
"Fang Miaomiao, you are my ex-girlfriend!"
"You said it yourself, 'ex-girlfriend,'" I replied coldly, fixing him with a stare.
"Mr. Shen, I hope you won't interfere in my personal life, or else I might mistakenly think you still have feelings for me."
Shen Kun paused for a moment, turning his head away awkwardly.
"Tch, who likes you?"
"It's just for fun," I shot back.
"For fun?"
I let out a cold laugh and leaned closer to him, locking my gaze onto his.
"Mr. Shen, if you keep this up, I really will think you still like me."
"I..." Shen Kun opened his mouth but ended up only saying one word.
"Mm."
Mm? What does that mean? Is he admitting he still likes me, or is he just brushing me off?
I stared at him, feeling utterly confused. But he turned and walked away without looking back.
What on earth does this guy mean?
