Because my cousin is a nurse, when I fell ill last time, she specially brought some supplies to my home for me to use. So, I had all the sterile equipment at home. 0

I sat on a chair in the bathroom, tied a tourniquet around my left leg, and then used a sterile syringe to puncture a vein and draw blood. 0

I collected about twenty milliliters or so, then squeezed it into the Porcelain Bowl. I went to the bathroom mirror and dipped my hand in the blood, smearing it across my face. 0

By the time I had covered my entire face with blood, I noticed that strangely, none of it dripped down; instead, it was all absorbed into my skin. 0

At that moment, the sky outside had turned completely dark. I stood alone in the bathroom, my face smeared with blood, which was gradually being absorbed like blotting paper, revealing an increasingly pale complexion. 0

Suddenly, a cat's cry echoed from outside—piercing and eerie. 0

I felt a chill run down my spine, and my hands trembled violently, nearly spilling the blood. 0

But I knew that in the face of survival, I should not be afraid. 0

Shakily, I applied all the blood to my face. The dark red hue gradually lightened until it disappeared completely, returning to normal. The Human Skin Mask simply fell away. 0

I reached out to touch the Human Skin Mask; it seemed smoother and softer than before, almost like tofu. 0

"Could it be that it sustains itself by absorbing blood?" 0

This kind of thing absolutely cannot be kept nearby. My first instinct was to throw it away; as long as it was gone, everything would be fine. 0

I took the Wooden Box and placed the Human Skin Mask inside, then carefully inserted the broken Peach Branch to secure it, pulling it slightly to ensure it wouldn’t fall out before I left. 0

I specifically went to a farther Garbage Dump to dispose of it. Just as I arrived, a garbage truck passed by, and I casually tossed the box onto it, feeling relieved that I could finally rest easy. 0

After all that hustle, I realized I hadn’t eaten anything all day. As soon as I relaxed, my stomach growled with hunger. I planned to go back, eat something, and get to bed early, hoping everything would be better by tomorrow. 0

I cooked myself a bowl of noodles and, as I walked into the living room, my eyes swept across the table. To my shock, the box was lying there perfectly intact. 0

At first, I thought I was mistaken and rubbed my eyes, but it was still there. When I poured myself a glass of water and stepped back out, I saw the box again. No matter how much I rubbed my eyes, that thing remained undamaged on the table. 0

The box was quite vintage and unique in appearance, so there was no way I could have misidentified it. 0

My hand trembled, causing the cup to slip from my grasp and shatter on the floor. As I bent down to clean up the shards, I accidentally cut my hand. Red blood dripped from the wound onto the Porcelain Cup, leaving a faint Blood Taste behind. 0

Then I heard a “Gla” sound. Looking up, I saw that the box had opened by itself, revealing the crystal-clear Human Skin Mask inside. It wasn’t just an illusion; it seemed like that thing moved slightly on its own. 0

“Ah—” 0

I screamed again, not caring that I was still in my pajamas. I quickly closed the box and threw it back into the garbage station before rushing home. But before I even set down my keys, I found the box lying safely on the floor again. 0

I tossed it out once more and returned home only to find it there again. This cycle repeated many times until I was utterly exhausted, collapsing onto the floor with an overwhelming sense that I could never escape this thing. 0

Perhaps the only one who could save me at this moment was that fortune teller. I changed my clothes and took the box wrapped in a cloth to look for him, but his stall was nowhere to be found. 0

"Excuse me, do you know if there's a fortune teller's stall around here? It was here this morning; how could it just disappear?" 0

The elderly woman looked at me with suspicion and replied, "A fortune teller?" 0
