I vaguely saw a small white pearl floating within Lin Shan's body, becoming more pronounced with the rise and fall of her emotions. 0

That White Pearl, I had seen it in Yunxia's body as well. 0

"Tian Tian and the others said they didn't know, so I cut them open and dug out their hearts, but that wasn't mine; it wouldn't fit. Can you tell me where my heart is?" 0

"I, I—" 0

I swallowed hard, trying to calm myself. "If I tell you where your heart is, can you give Lin You back to me?" 0

"Lin You?" Lin Shan turned slightly, and I saw Lin You sitting on the ground nearby with her eyes closed. Her clothes were intact, and it was hard to tell if she was injured. "She's over there. Tell me where my heart is!" 0

"I need to confirm if Xiao You is alive." 0

Perhaps Lin Shan thought I couldn't escape, so she didn't stop me. Seizing the opportunity, I crawled over to Lin You and pushed her hard. "Xiao You, wake up! Xiao You, it's Anxin! Xiao You!" 0

"An, Anxin?" Lin You slowly opened her eyes, and I immediately felt relieved. "Anxin, hurry up and go! It's dangerous." 0

"No, if we're leaving, we leave together." 0

Lin You looked extremely weak. I grabbed her hand to help her stand up, but before we could steady ourselves, a sudden force knocked me to the ground. 0

Lin Shan glared at me furiously, while Yin Hong's eyes were filled with blood. "Gu Anxin, you lied to me! I'm going to kill you! I'll dig out your heart." 0

“Anxin, run!” 0

Lin You suddenly shouted. I grabbed a broken chair nearby and threw it at Lin Shan, seizing the opportunity to pull Lin You and dash outside. I had no idea how long we ran before finally stopping, leaning against a wall, my throat dry and prickling like needles. 0

“Xiao You, are you okay?” 0

I turned to look at Lin You, only to realize that the person I had been dragging along for so long was not Lin You at all. “Yang Qing!” 0

Yang Qing grinned at me, her head tilted, eyes hollow. “Anxin, you can't escape.” 0

“No!” 0

I shook her off and turned to run, but Yang Qing relentlessly pursued me. She was fast, her fingers outstretched as she reached for my forehead. At that moment, a light shone from above my head. Yang Qing screamed and collapsed to the ground. 0

I stared at Yang Qing in confusion, reaching up to touch my head. I grasped the hairpin and pulled it down, noticing it still emitted a faint glow, a soft yellow that felt warm like feathers. 0

Remembering Jun Chong's words, if the hairpin could truly protect me, then I would have the courage. 0

I returned to the classroom where Lin You was being held up by Xiaoya, perched precariously on the windowsill; one push and she would fall. Lin Shan watched me from the side. 0

“Anxin, if you escape, Lin You will die.” 0

“Please don’t hurt Xiao You.” 0

"Then tell me, where is my Heart?" 0

I pleaded helplessly, "I really don't know." 0

"Then you all can die with me!" 0

Lin Shan's voice was fierce, and in the still classroom, a chill swept through. I knew this time we were definitely doomed; the feeling was complicated. 0

"Your heart is here; come and take it yourself!" 0

Suddenly, I saw my hand reaching out toward Lin Shan, and in my palm lay a pulsating Heart. 0

The voice was mine, yet I felt detached from the words being spoken. 0

But I wasn't afraid. In the familiar coolness, I saw Jun Chong. 0

A smile flickered at the corner of his eyes; he had finally appeared. 0

Jun Chong, save Xiao You, I silently cried out, hoping he could hear me. 0

As soon as Lin Shan spotted the heart, her eyes lit up. She floated forward a bit but then halted, watching me warily. 0

"You were just about to prepare a fake to trick me, and now you want me to trust you again?" 0

"Whether it's real or fake, just take a look for yourself." 0

Lin Shan was clearly tempted and said to Xiaoya, "Bring it to me." 0

Xiaoya released Lin You and walked towards Lin Shan with the heart in hand. 0

"Jun Chong, I—" 0

"Shh, don't say anything. Stay here and don't move." 0

"Okay." 0

Even though I had been terrified just moments ago, the moment Jun Chong appeared, that feeling vanished completely. I didn't understand why. When he wasn't around, I had been waiting for him, even feeling a bit annoyed that he didn't come out to help me directly. 0

But now that he was here, it felt as if a voice was telling me that he wasn't absent; he was simply waiting for the right moment. 0

I couldn't explain why I felt this way, but at that moment, there was nothing I could do. If waiting could end everything, then I was willing to do so. 0

Lin Shan had no means of defense and could only lower her head to touch the heart. Just then, beams of light erupted from within the heart, and then it exploded. 0

A hand reached out in front of me, forcing me to close my eyes. Jun Chong's gentle voice sounded in my ear, "Don't look." 0

Lin Shan's anguished scream faded away in no time, and it was then that Jun Chong emerged from the darkness, walking toward Lin Shan's location. 0

The area looked as if a small explosive had gone off, leaving everything in disarray, blood and flesh scattered everywhere. 0

Jun Chong bent down and picked up a White Pearl from the ground. With a squeeze of his hand, the small orb shattered instantly, and he let out a low laugh. 0

The sound was cold, like the chill of late winter. 0

It was the first time I had heard such laughter from Jun Chong, sending chills down my spine, no less terrifying than the panic I had just experienced. 0

"Turns out I can be deceived by this thing too," Jun Chong muttered to himself, or perhaps to someone else. "Come out! I don't think a few corpses will fool me." 0

"Hehe, these things certainly can't deceive your eyes. Lin Shan's soul still has its uses for me, so I can't give it to you just yet!" 0

Suddenly, Lin You jumped down from the window. The moonlight shone brightly into her eyes, reflecting an eerie red hue. The voice that spoke came from her lips, echoing with an ethereal quality that was hard to distinguish between male and female, yet carried a playful tone. 0

"I just didn't expect that a simple test would actually draw you out." 0

I was taken aback—Lin Shan wasn't dead? 0

"You really went to great lengths for this!" Jun Chong gritted his teeth. Under the silver moonlight, his handsome face radiated waves of malice. 0

"This is nothing; I just wanted to let you know that dreaming of reclaiming your body is futile." 0

Body? 0

Jun Chong's body? 0

I think I heard that female ghost from Human Skin Mask mention this before. 0

Looking up at Jun Chong, could it be that he originally had a body? 0

But isn't he a ghost? What does a ghost need a body for? 0

"How would you know if you don't try?" Jun Chong's fingers curled, and black flames ignited around his fist. "I, Jun Chong, have never been unable to obtain what I want." 0

"Jun Chong, that's Lin You! Don't hurt her!" 0

I thought Jun Chong was going to attack Lin You, and I screamed in fear, which made "Lin You" suddenly smile at me. 0

"Just like her?" 0

"Lin You" pointed at me, her face sweetly smiling yet revealing a sinister edge. 0

Before I could react, I felt my body lighten, my feet lifted off the ground, and then a force surged from my chest, pushing me out of the window. 0

Outside the window, the dark clouds parted, and the moonlight was serene. I looked down at the loss of sensation in my feet but found that I wasn't falling. 0

Sixth Floor Although it wasn't very high, it was still enough that a fall could mean death or serious injury. 0

“Jun Chong, the thing you wanted is here. It contains clues about your body!” 0

“Lin You” took out a White Pearl that emitted a silvery glow, standing out vividly in the endless darkness. 0

“If you want it, come and take it. But—” “Lin You” turned and smiled at me, “she’s going down. It’s a choice between two; what will you decide?” 0

I stared blankly at Jun Chong, who had his back to me, not turning around or saying a word. 0

In that moment, my heart felt an indescribable ache. 0

I could tell that what the person said about the body was very important to Jun Chong. If this White Pearl truly contained clues, wanting to obtain it wouldn’t be unreasonable. 0

But that person wanted him to choose between the clues and me. I thought he would surely choose the former. 0

After all, to him, I was just an ordinary woman. Even as his so-called wife, it was impossible for us to be together. 0

Because I was human, and he was a ghost. 0

Humans and ghosts are destined to part ways; throughout history, there has never been a good ending. 0

So when Jun Chong stepped forward, I didn’t blame him. Although my heart surged with piercing pain at that moment, I still closed my eyes. 0

"Jun Chong, remember to take Xiao You back." 0

As the restraints on my body loosened, a sense of weightlessness immediately engulfed me. I felt myself plummeting downward, and soon the pain of impact would come crashing in. 0

My heart grew colder, piece by piece, just like the speed of my descent. It was then that I realized how long I had unknowingly harbored feelings for someone. 0

"You fool, taking her back is your mission, not mine." 0

When my body fell into the soft coolness, I could sense his familiar presence beside me. I opened my eyes to see Jun Chong holding me as we landed on the ground. 0

"I only need you, Jun Chong." 0

In that moment, tears streamed down my face uncontrollably. I had never known that after experiencing such overwhelming emotions, it could all vanish with just those words. 0

Simply because he held me in his heart. 0

"But what about the clues—" 0

"The clues can be searched for again, but if I lose you, I'll never find you again." Jun Chong tightened his grip around me as he began to walk back. "So don't leave me." 0

"Jun Chong." 0

"What is it?" He stopped and looked at me. 0

I reached out and wrapped my arms around his neck, leaning in to plant a quick kiss on his lips before pulling back, my heart racing. 0

I didn't know why I did it, but in that moment, my heart felt warm, like the gentle sun on a winter day, soft and comforting, filling me with happiness. 0

Jun Chong looked down at me from above, a smile spreading across his face. As he set me down, his right hand pressed against the back of my head, and he leaned down to kiss me fiercely. 0

He only released me when I was nearly breathless, lifting me up again. "Wife, it's time for us to consummate our marriage." 0

Surprisingly, I didn't argue because I knew I had developed feelings for him. 0

However, once the tension faded away, drowsiness hit me hard. I slept soundly until the next afternoon when I was jolted awake by Lin You's urgent phone call. 0

"Lazybones! The sun is already shining on your backside! Get up and meet me at school!" 0

Hearing Lin You's cheerful voice on the other end relaxed my heart. Her yelling meant there was nothing seriously wrong. 0

I wasn't sure how she found out about what happened yesterday. Lin Shan's spirit hadn't disappeared, but Jun Chong assured me she wouldn't be showing up again anytime soon. 0

Still, facing the deaths of Sweet and her friends left me feeling deeply regretful. 0

If there had been no hatred, none of this would have happened. 0
